This man was responsible for most of the soundtrack of my youth. Escape From New York, The Fog, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, Halloween, Christine, it goes on and on.
This man is a legend.
Thanks for showing this to me Jay.
Very cool
borderline experimental
That’s right, Jay!
Happy 75th Birthday John Carpenter!
I would put Carpenter into the same category of film composers as Morricone and Hermann. He is that good.
Well, Morricone did THE THING soundtrack and very pleasantly emulated Carpenter's style.
but, did any of those guys write and direct great pictures? hence why Carpenter is possibly the greatest artist ever, ever ever.
Ennio's sh! gettin robbed by grifter commercial advertz...
me too
This track got me through a very dark time. I love it at the end when the the drums come in at Straight Four. They Live, We Sleep. ❤I love you, John.
Carpenter and his crew are leaving an indelible mark on music forever! Carpenter continues to inspire!!!
Carpenter is a fuckin BOSS!!!
John Carpenter does NOT get enough credit for his music. He’s mostly known for his movies. However as good as his movies are, his music is even better. Dude quite literally inspired an ENTIRE GENRE with his music, and so many people have no clue. Let that sink in.
I agree. But what genre?
@@emilmrkeberg9523 DarkSynth
His music will never get old.
If you play this song in the dark and light a candle you will see your entire future.
I did all of that, and the black guy from the horror movie "Candyman" appeared.
Tony Todd
:-D. LOL
Fucking awesome, as usual. To all those begging Carpenter to make another movie, I tell you this: You know what you want to see and you know what you want to hear. You don't need to be a trained musician or film maker and you sure as Hell don't need permission.
Loving the strong _Big Trouble in Little China_ vibe the bass is giving off.
Easily one of the best Lost Themes and so glad you played it live on the tour!
John Carpenter, you are literally the coolest human being alive today. I love you, man.
Carpenter is such a fucking badass. One of the best filmmakers ever with some of the best musical scores ever.
Carpenter is such a boss, a complete artist. I can't think of anyone besides Robert Rodriguez who does it all: writing, directing, producing, and scoring (Rodriguez edits his films too, but whatever). Even if you don't like his films or his music (and who the hell doesn't!?) you still have to tip your hat to a guy who practices his craft in so many different ways.
Carpenter has also edited many of his films such as Assault On Precinct 13. Carpenter’s one of my favorite directors and film scorers. He knows how to use horror elements and suspense when it is perfect and he matches it so well with his scores.
you got me at - John Carpenter :)
Carpenter is definitely a RUSH fan !
+Axel McFly i think also maybe a GY!BE fan
+munky cheez what makes you say that
Steven T i dont even remember why i said that lol i might have been high or summin
+munky cheez The bassline does kind of sound like "Vital Signs."
Yea! It reminds me of Vital signs a lot.
I was expecting such a contemporary work of genius, but didn't expect a band video to suit it so well. Go John boy!
What a time to be living in with the Master of Horror & Great Composer~ A Renaissance Man. John Carpenter . Must see him live.
The guitar and bass tones are magnificent.
well... if you have a talent, you will have it forever. John always were 5 steps forward from us. So many masterpieces movies, and never people get it on time. Now i discover this!
John is a true artist.
Big John is the Man not only in movies but in music. This man is a genius so underrated in his own country. My little tribute to this great filmaker/composer if you have 3 minutes to spare : ua-cam.com/video/B1Br69iC8gw/v-deo.html
HOLY MOTHER OF THE UNIVERSE... my mind was just blown! They're all clearly NOT outta bubblegum... and they're kicking ass!!!
I just realized. John Konesky, Scott Seiver and John Spiker of Tenacious D. Awesome people for a support band!
0:32 "Hold on, I just need to put on my ass-kicking glasses."
This song is phenomanal. When they performed it LIVE it was amazing

Getting some "Big Trouble..." vibes off this one. Awesome!
They Live!!!
Wow! John Carpenter forever!
YES! John Carpenter is one of my favorite filmmakers of all time. not to mention one of my favorite composers as well.
Prodigal Son brought me here. Never knew John Carpenter composed. Glad i do now ♡
Fantastic concert in Mesa, AZ, last night! Played all the great movie themes and songs from Lost Themes I and II. Everything sounded amazing.
Pity that many think this is an imitation of Stranger Things, when in fact it was the other way around.
Only God Forgives 🤔
@Bubba Sawyer You don't even know if its true. Calm that boomer impulse dude.
@Bubba Sawyer then you elaborate the "this generation..." stuff, grumpy dude. Go yell "le wrong generation" at a bird.
tribute is the right word, reference is the key. That's great part of Stranger things sucess, that's why i love both, this old man and the kids.
The guys that made the Stranger Things theme list John Carpenter as and influence. Both songs came out in 2016 but both are listed as previously unreleased songs. So they were most likely created independent of one another, but This is so very quintessential John Carpenter sound and you can hear his influence on the Stranger things theme.
Thank you Mr. Carpenter!!
Message to John Carpenter if you're reading - PLEASE make another independent horror film, old school style, without CGI.
@@frankthespank John can take my soul in exchange for the completion of that project...after i finish watching and re-watching the movie a couple dozen times ;)
he said he wanted to direct again a few years ago
yes plsssss! just one last one!
I would love to pen it...
Do you prefer monster gore, or psychological psychedelic thrillers?
Hell yes!
the boss ......everyone of his soundtracks stand the test of time..keep going john
I don't know what to say. I've loved a lot of music, and a lot of artists, but this is the first time that hearing an album (I ordered all 4 of J.C.'s recently, actually) has made me want to go work for a record company. Sacred Bones is so cool for bringing this to us.
I can't believe how awesome this is.
Carpenter the mans still composing awesome shit!!!
Holy shit; it's sounding like Snake Pliskin and Barry De Vorzon jamming in the Baseball Furies club house before going out to rescue the Canadian Prime minister from an alien that lives on Mars. This song needs to be a movie!
John Carpenter's Music!
THE MAN!
excellent director , excellent musician.

John Carpenter ROCKS!!!🎸
Rad, cannot wait to see this live in NYC!!!!
Today is the day!!!!!!!!!!
+SuperRubster yes!!!!!!
i am obsessed with the end
JC can't leave this earth with his last movie being "The Ward." He's gotta make another film. Although, I am content with his music. It's phenomenal.
The Ward is actually a great movie and very underrated.
If they ever make that Big Trouble sequel this would work
Masterpiece!!!!!
John is crushing it!
This song just randomly came up in my recommended, and I'm not disappointed
The Stars, My Destination
Halloween 2 theme still haunts me today. Carpenter is a master of his trade.
I expected this to be bad for some reason. Most people form Hollywood suck at music if that's not their main jam. Apparently this has been Mr. Carpenter's primary love his whole life. I can tell. I am very impressed. As a musician this is great shit!
Simply WOW
Carpenters music is really cool stuff. At least what i heard so far.
He is one of those people, that are big without being mainstream oriented.
He's got his own print.
My favourite movie is " They Live".
Also there some cool sounds. Simple but effective.
They Live is such a great movie.
(My fav is Big Trouble, but that doesn't change my respect to his other classics.)
John Carpenter is genius par excellence.

I don't know how many times I've watched this, I love everything about it!
See him live in La Rochelle, France, with my wife : what a great cine-concert !! Unbelievable that this master of fantastic movies came to my town !! Only two dates in France and the other was Paris... What a bass line in this track, kick my ass to the moon !
Fantastic!
I have front row seats for his Seattle show in June. I can't wait!
more this!
The greatest master
I love this. I love both of the Lost Themes albums, and I hope he makes more.
epic
Awesome
Fantastic
Renaissance Man John Carpenter!
Gloria eterna al maestro!
*smiles blissfully* I wasn't sure I'd like this, but then it hit thirty seconds and I go "Oh, fuck yeah!" And reset it to the beginning and raise the volume to almost painful levels.
Winning!
I was really impressed by the high quality of the cinematography of this video clip, then the penny dropped. It's John Carpenter! Obviously!
So cool!
amazing!
Get it John!!!
This is dope.
BRING IT!
Alucinante
Grande Maestro!
merci john
Simply EPIC!!!!
Amazing!
Master Carpenter! Respect!
Can't wait to see him live in June!
Wow, fantastic!
Seeing him live in London on Halloween!
I envy the hell out of you. have fun dude
+Graham Ginty gotta gotta get myself them damn tickets!
I don't care what people say....John's always "had it" and he still does. Also, is that Cody on the other synthesizer?
An album release of these live versions would be awesome
just incredible.
Go Master!
I once heard someone say that John has been looking a 100 years old since he was 45. Can't stop thinking about that now.
Rich is always right
@@mattfan5 John is so lucky to get mentioned by famous actor Rich Evans.
@@snail2755 oh I know, Rich Evans of the Ellen show. What a class act puttin the spotlight on mr. carpenter
