What makes this scene especially funny is that it starts off relatively innocent, but then it gradually descents into a paranoid, Post-Vietnam flashblack making it extremely clear that Major Payne suffers from PTSD and should probably be in therapy rather than in a position of authority at a school.
When I used to read this story to my kids, when it talks about the train wanting to take the food and toys to the kids on the other side of the mountain I would add: “Needless to say, there was plenty of opposition.” Made my wife smile.

As funny as his story is, it's also sad because of why Payne is the way he is, because his friend was nearly killed when they were outnumbered by the enemy during a battle. Despite his stone cold demeanor, he most likely has PTSD.

This movie is criminally underrated. I know Marlon and Shawn get a lot of recognition for their comedy- they’ve done great work so it’s deserved and Keenan is a fantastic actor and director, but Damon is probably my favorite Wayans brother.
I like that the counselor knows when the story has gone in an ugly direction but she's too disturbed to say anything until he starts screaming. For a scene this funny it's also pretty realistic.

I am 39 years old and this movie is still some of the best pure comedy I have ever seen.
I laughed ao hard when I saw this as a kid, it was genuinely the best scene in the entire movie even though I didn't understand what he was saying.
Considering Payne is still alive here telling this story, he really did wipe out that entire ambush of Charlie with just his sidearm.
