I ordered Science! For $32 and got sent Ceasar instead, nice... so I ordered Science again, and the MH3 energy deck for $35 and got both... can't wait to mash them together Christmas morning!!
As someone who merged them (with some extra stuff thrown in), it is by far the most powerful commander deck I have made, those who I join games with fear it.
It's amazing, put in some other powerful energy cards from previous sets and you're good. Plus, I believe the new precon from Aetherdrift in December will have another energy focused deck, so more cards. It's a ton of fun and I enjoy playing Dr. Madison Li (I kept my deck primarily a Fallout theme with all the lands and mana artifacts as well as bobbleheads to try and keep the Fallout vibe.)
Riders of Rohan has been my favorite precon in the last few years. She's a beast out of the box and with a few upgrades it becomes a problem very very quickly.
I couldn't find Riders locally when I wanted to build Eowyn a couple of months ago... So I picked up a bunch of the singles and mashed them together with a land base i already had. For less than $100, I have a pretty solid Humans deck with the great sub-theme that every creature's art is a female. I call it "Ladies who could kick my ass", and it simply rocks!
Death Toll precon got so little hype compared to other precons and it's actually pretty sweet. I've upgraded it and it's shocking how satisfying the deck is to run.
I've bought all of Duskmourn's precon but Death Toll is the one that is sticking the most in my head. I don't upgrade precons but it's just a fun deck with nice graveyard shenanigans, and Winter is harder to get rid of than people might think, owing to Deathtouch and that sweet 5 toughness. I've bought Miracle Worker only very recently so I can't judge it too much but so far, I feel like there hasn't really been a bad precon for DSK. Even Valgavoth, which some people have described as not really performing, is actually nice for a burn deck. I feel like people say that Valgavoth is weaker, but that is probably because they rely too much on the Commander when you are supposed to first set up the burn damage and then reap the benefits of Valgavoth as a value engine.
@@kumabear5229 interesting to hear you don't upgrade precons. Do you just keep the 4 together as sort of a boardgames experience, where you have all the pieces and they're all consistent?
I am using it in a precon sealed event where you start with an unopened precon from recent sets and then every week get to open two booster packs from recent sets to upgrade it and I went Death Toll with Duskmourn and Foundations to upgrade it and it is the strongest deck in the league and I have the most wins

I haven't had the opportunity to use those tho, but I like the precon how they are and they feel more or less balanced so if I invite friends, it could make for a fun night.
Cabaretti Cacophony was my first deck I ever bought about a year and a bit ago. Got the 5 deck bundle on Amazon with my friends and I picked this one because I liked the cat commander. Kinda a shame you didn't talk about the alternate commander for that deck as she's WAY better honestly and gets rid of the weird goading part and focuses on token production which is what the deck is really all about. Building wide and power in numbers. I've spend the most TLC on this deck and it's my strongest one clocking out at a 7 on commandersalts! Always a good time playing this one!
Same for me, first precon purchased and played it for quite some time before switching the commander to jetmir which was waaaay more effective for closing out games :)
I’m so happy to see Lit Kanto (intentional misspelling) get some love! She’s been one of my favorites for a long time and has been such a great purchase. She also still has the underdog effect where not everyone knows what she does and you can catch a lot of opponents off guard from the beginning. A new recommendation from foundations is Slumbering Cerberus! It doesn’t untap normally but instead when a creature dies each turn. Which means people either choose to chump the trampler, lose a creature and gives you your body back to goad again, or take all the damage. Arabella, Abandoned Doll is also a great addition as a finisher for all of your small token guys!
Eowyn has to have ANOTHER human enter under you control. So you need to be able to create another one the same turn you cast her to take full advantage.
Shoutout to First Flight! I bought it when I was trying to get into Commander and I have been consistently playing and upgrading it for like 2 years at this point. It was fun out of the box and it is still fun now that the decklist looks completely different and I switched over to Kangee as commander. Turns out there are a ton of great creatures in Azorius colors that also have flying and therefore fit the gameplan (Faerie Mastermind, Selfless Spirit, Ornithopter of Paradise, etc.) with more coming out all the time so I never stop getting new deckbuilding ideas. People consistently ignore Kangee until it's too late because he's not immediately threatening, so my win percentage is very high. It's straight up my favorite deck, fun to play, fun to build.
That was also the first non beyond universes precon I bought along with boosters from Bloomburrow and I ended up making a Kastral bird deck with 16 pieces of removal/counterspells as well as a couple stax cards I found in my LCS. By far my favorite deck.
Death Toll is great! It’s so easy to upgrade, and have delirium the turn he comes out. The deck is explosive really early, and I enjoy being the archenemy.
I’ve been looking at Kit for a while now because I wanted to make a tokens deck because I don’t have one yet. I instead built Halsin/Inspiring Leader as my tokens deck even though it’s leaving the red out but it’s been a blast to play.
Love these videos! Might pick up Enduring Enchantments, I keep wanting to build an Abzan deck, and I’ve gotten sick of my Tuvasa enchantments deck. I’ve played against Anikthea a little, she’s strong and interesting but not busted.

8:48 "Absolute Menance of a cat" 😂 Not sure if that choice of adjective was intentional in Anikthea's segment. Also, I highly recommend Anikthea players add the new "Demonic Covenant" enchantment. It makes 5/5 flyers every turn, also mills. Plus draws when the demons attack. If the ability makes you sacrifice itself, Anikthea can bring it back for another go. I have a decent bit of population effects in the deck so this was a fun.
3:30 LITERALLY the first card (alphabetically) in the creatures list on moxfield is Angler Turtle. Doesn't have flying haha! Sorry Beezy , I just, I just literally had to :P (literally, the rest of the creatures DO have flying!)
Geez you can't rely on 3/3 menace to get through or even have any feasible attacks past early game without a major help (like 6 dedicated slots in the deck e.g. Sleeper's Guile). Without it, it doesn't really work well
Am I crazy or can you not put the Vow of Duty enchantment on your own creature and still attack with it? The way they discussed it was as if you were putting it on an opponent's creature. I will agree that it's not the most efficient way of buffing your creature and giving it vigilance, but it's not a complete waste of a card either.
They only put Death Toll at the number one because Ishkanah is in the precon. I have half a mind to believe it wouldn’t have made the list if it wasn’t in the precon.
I think winter unfortunately suffers from kind of a wordy and less appealing design for newer or less experience magic players. I find that people are a bit allergic in graveyard recursion value decks to exiling cards they might 'want or need later' and are put off. He's also a bit harder to build efficiently than your average deck I think, wanting a lot of boring looking vegetables cards and as many dual type cards as you can reasonably fit, since unlike meren you can't really get away with milling only a little bit and just recurring the same guys over and over, you really need almost as many mulch's as you can get. I think if people gave him a chance and saw him less as infinite recursion meren and more as graveyard khaalia of the vast being able to cheat any permanent into play every single turn (even without attacking!) they'd really enjoy him. I love him so much, was shocked when I found out he was the least popular duskmourne commander
Honestly, I feel like it's the best DSK precon, or at least it suits my tastes when it comes to gameplay. With Winter, you don't really have to worry too much about draw engine and if you can give him shroud/hexproof, he's basically gonna stay until the next board wipe. Also graveyard funsies, as a guy who enjoys N'ghathrod, it's funny doing basically the opposite. And when you hit that sweet, sweet Deadbridge Chant, your deck just plays itself. My only gripe is that while the engine is great, the deck lacks a good wincon outside of Polluted Cistern burning enemies or, y'know, slapping with creatures. I wish the deck had Infect, so that it would weaken creatures and threaten with poison trample.
Played it once, game lasted 3hrs and ended with me decking myself lol deck has a lot of potential with upgrades, I just felt like it lacked the punch to finish the job.
Nah there is a reason the first flight precon is cheap AF, it is absolute trash with maybe a few good cards in it. If you can directly use most of the good cards sure go ahead and grab it, if not it just isn't a competitive deck.
If you want a good precon from the Duskmourn set, don’t go for Death Toll. It’s just a reanimator deck. We’ve seen them time and time again. Go for something like Endless Punishment. Lots of value, the commanders kick ass, and actually does something with or without the commander. Heck, even Jump Scare hoses Death Toll with all the insane reprints. I don’t know what paint their huffing, but Death Toll ain’t it.
I need someone to explain first flight to me, that deck is terrible out the box and has no direction it has some value but really for whatever it costs it is non-coherent garbage, plz don't play it. withouut dismantling it for literally any other deck

Bought First Flight for my sister's first commander deck and she loved it.
1st flight was actually my 1st deck and I usually toss it to new players, it isn't complicated and hard to defend against
Found my new favorite podcast. I only shop at Cardkingdom, only sleeve in Dragonshield, and only use Moxfield for decks! Crazy!
Death toll goes great with the necron precon, especially if you use that alternate commander

Every precon online is like 3x MSRP currently. Not advising anyone to buy one just buy the singles or find one in a retail store for retail cost.
I think death toll kicks ass. Winter is so much stronger than he reads. Forgive me if I get winters pronouns wrong I do not keep up with lore anymore.

The great thing about cats is how they let you know your priorities are out of whack.
