    I just got the GP Challenge 1 - first nike shoe in a long time that actually fit my feet and had room for a custom orthotic. Good support and structure for heavier players. I really like it. I agree they expanded the toe box and on my left foot, it can be a little tight.

    What I've never understood is how these big companies can't design a shoe that has modular inserts that do different things. For example, a standard shoe but some sort of insole/insert that offers lots of spongey cushioning (eg. GP Turbo), another insole/insert that offers energy return (eg. Challenge 1), another one which is thin/light (eg. Vapor) etc. That way people can buy the shoe and have the choice of which insert they prefer or swap them around.

      I think they certainly could but that would mean too much variety in one shoe so they couldn't make as many models.

    • @JayRuf3438
      @JayRuf3438 3 місяці тому

      They could, but that would increase costs and complexity of the product. It's just more efficient and cost effective to create multiple models.

    I have the women's version, Osaka colorway. I had to size up 1/2 size but I find them to have a good combination of comfort and support. They are not as narrow as other Nikes I've tried. The outsole appears very durable. It feels a tad heavy but it's nice and stable.

    is this all court\hard outsole good also on clay? what do u think?

    I do want to say this is an amazing review! I saw these and wanted them because I loved the vapor 11 so much, it was my favorite shoe, but it just wasn't responsive enough for its wait, plus the lockdown was just meh. I had to resort to the vapor pro 2 as my go to shoe but do you think this would be an upgrade to the vp2? I'm asking because of its weight as I have used the vapor 11 with not a huge problem for weight, it was just not responsive enough to overcome it, so I was wondering if these are for their weight, thanks!

      Thank you! I had the exact same problem as you with the 11, and ended up with the Vapor Pro 2. I still think the Pro is more responsive so I don't think I'll be switching.

    Thanks for the review. If this doesn't have the same plush feeling of the GP Turbo can you recommend another tennis shoe that is closest in plushiness to the Turbo?

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  4 місяці тому +1

      You're welcome! To be honest, not much does have the plush feel of the Turbo... I've never felt anything like it - you could try the CT Rally as it's a little bouncier than average but still not nearly as soft.

      You could get the fresh foam new balance shoe, or just give the gp challenge 1 shoe a try honestly. It will have great response it sounds like, and foot doctor Zach channel found lot of similar feelings to them in these so it comes down to personal preference and style and where you lay down pressure in a shoe, just give them a try, Nike has a 60 day return for shoes you can try on the court lol

      I would love to but the issue with that is I don't really have clay courts in Vancouver to test them on.

    Hello Luca, great video as always. I’ve a question, how do you compare Nike Vapor pro 2 with Wilson Rush Pro 4.0? Thanks

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  2 місяці тому +1

      The Rush has an overall more conforming feel around the foot whereas the Pro 2 is a bit more natural. That also makes the Rush a bit more supportive.

    • @leandrorodriguez6077
      @leandrorodriguez6077 2 місяці тому

      Than you very much. I’ve the Vapor pro 2 for hard court and love them. I just wanted to try something else for clay since my zoom pro broken and I’m really tempted with those Rush. Based on your opinion I guess I’ll give them a try, thanks again

    I bought a pair of these last week and spent about 2 hours in them today in a friendly match. I like them! They feel pretty cushiony to me with the two spongey Zoom units in the forefoot and heel. Not as much as the pillow like GP Turbo's but still pretty good. They feel plush. Slightly wider / more accommodating fit than the Vapor Pro 2 I also have and overall, an improvement on those. If I did have a criticism, I'd say that my foot doesn't feel completely 'locked in' with these. I can slide these off my feet for example without having to undo the shoelaces!

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  4 місяці тому

      The lockdown certainly could be better but all the other characteristics are great!

      100% agree withs summary from Tennis Nerd:
      "Comfort-wise, they are some of the most plush-feeling shoes I have ever stepped into. As I wrote above, I can go for walks in these. They feel roomy to me and require zero break-in. My worry is that my foot is not quite locked in and that the softer structure of the shoe can lead to too much movement of the ankle/foot. This would lead me to feel less secure in my movement. To get the comfort of the Zoom GP, you will obviously have to compromise somewhere and I feel like that locked-in feel is a little missing."

    How do these compare to the nike court zoom nxt? The cushioning and springiness of the nxt were nice, but the heel wasn't very secure.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  2 місяці тому +1

      Way more secure in the heel and similar amounts of cushioning. A better shoe altogether.

    My foot is widest on the outside (tailor's bunion I think it's called).. how uncomfortable is this shoes for that? Looks like that plastic stability arch is positioned right where the small toe joint is...

    I need super cushioning like the turbo. ANY recommendations?

    • @vwmusicplaylist1935
      @vwmusicplaylist1935 4 місяці тому

      My suggestion would be to find a roomy shoe of your choice, go one size up and fit flat + shaped insoles of your choice to provide the extra cushioning. Not sure what shoe that would be though.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  4 місяці тому

      There is really nothing much like it anymore. I find the New Balance CT Rally to be pretty well cushioned but still no where near the level of the Turbo.

  • @bruno_mart

    Man you do the most through reviews. Perhaps you can help then lol: clay court player, I have relatively wide feet, need something stiff in the ball of the foot area due to hallux rigidus (kind of like a rocker shoe that doesn’t bend), and I need a quite roomy upper because I use custom orthotics. Am I doomed lol?

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  4 місяці тому

      Thank you! Nothing perfect springs to mind right now, but the Gel-Resolution is always a good option for a platform shoe (for an orthotic).

    I've been trying these for the past week. I think they're pretty spongey and cushioned. Not sure why those people from the tennis warehouse forums are moaning about them. If anything, I'd say that they lack a bit of outright speed due to the sponginess, but they're definitely comfortable shoes in terms of cushioning.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  4 місяці тому

      I'm not quite sure. Perhaps because it's a little slower through the air so you can't snap it through the service motion as quickly. There's not much you can do about that, unfortunately.

      @@RacketsRunnersVancouver Sweet! Looking forward to it. I used to play a lot (varsity in US), have more conventional than modern strokes, including a one handed backhand. Like a prostaff sort of feel for my rackets and back in the day played with a head radical, then a blade, then pro staff. I’m in my 40s now and getting back into it heavily. Haven’t gelled well with some modern frames I’ve tried though. Liked them all at first then quickly realized they weren’t for me - pure aero, tfight 305 and ezone 98 (still tempted by last one). I’m now trying to decide between two similar and one quite different racket - percept 97, 97D or the new or current boom. Basically a control racket which I like or one that gives a little extra help 😊. Would love to get your thoughts please 🙏🏾🙂.
