Hey Brian, another great review on here. I do have the falcam quick release in F 38 they weren’t great, but as you said, sometimes, it’s hard to get on there and off of there. I was looking for a cage and normally go with small rig, but may reconsider looking at your review here!
Thank you!! And I completely get you, I usually go smallrig, but I also have a neewer cage, and now the FALCAM, and all have their upsides, but I do think these are the highest quality cages of the bunch and I guess even if the quick release can be slow, it's better to have it than not sometimes.

But seriously, I thought of you with this cage, as I know you obviously love cages, but I also think you like them to be a bit more unique like the FALCAM whereas the others sort of all look the same. I love the f38 system, but is not limited in the weight the top handle can handle? Was not to small for any sizeable rig?
Those are good questions and although I can't speak from experience as I didn't rig it up, I can say the falcam cage and accessories is way sturdier than the cages that I have rigged up on my other cameras (mostly smallrig and Neewer parts on my FX3). Yet, as for the quick release system itself, I personally think it could handle putting a monitor on the top handle easily and still quick-releasing it
@@BrianCatalano I think I remember that when I checked it I thought it would be sufficient to hold the camera/cage plus a monitor and a microphone. The issue comes if you want to add rods and av-Mount plus a zoom recorder. There I start feeling a bit uneasy. Otherwise, love the system!

I think what you're referring to is the connector to my wrist strap, which is detached. I have wrist straps on all my cameras...

@@BrianCatalano I’ve asked them if the a7iv or a7riv cage will work and they tell me NO. They did say that they are developing one for the a7rv. TBH, I’m not quite sure what the difference or hold up is…

Been looking for a good cage for an FX30, have you used their FX3/30 cage? But yeah, who doesn't love free stuff?! ;)
I haven't yet, but I sort of wish I waited because I bought the Neewer cage for the FX3 because it was the cheapest and seemed to do what I needed but honestly have been disappointed with it, especially the HDMI clamp, so I wish I bought this instead!
And just to note, I'll happily enter you in the giveaway but it's specifically for the zve1 cage and side handle. Is that cool?
@@BrianCatalano it looks like the NATO top rail comes forward enough to clear the hot shoe. That's what interests me more so I can continue to use the hot shoe.

@@Brandon_Cash I was just looking at the fx3 cage, and you're right it does appear that you can keep the top portion of the cage on while using the hot shoe... In spite of not seeing any pictures showing it... Or if there's a difference between using the cage and the official top handle vs a regular mic. Yet, that top portion is removable as a separate piece which is nice. I'm seriously considering picking it up and if I do, I'll let you know!

@@Brandon_Cash it does look like you can... I actually just messaged Falcam to see if they'll send me that cage to review. Not sure if they will but if they do, I'll definitely test that. Yet, again it does seem like you can use that mic with the cage on
Does their system work with at a Swiss?
Yes it does, the cage will attach to an arca swiss clamp or what I suggest is getting the quick release plate which also attaches to an arca swiss clamp and then the cage is quick release as intended. Does that make sense?
@@BrianCatalano after doing some research, it doesn’t look like the new DJI wireless. My adapter will fit with this cage on. It wouldn’t fit with my small rig cage either and only cage. It looks like it’ll fit for is the tilter rig

Hello. Thank you for all these nice videos on the Sony ZV-E1. I am looking for a small and discret cinema camera. My goal would be to shoot scenes in the streets without attracting too much attention. the ZV-E1 is a small camera with a good stabilization and a good autophocus but from what you are showing the dynamic stabilization is sometimes not working great when you are turning fast. My question is, do you think that it would be possible to follow an actor in the streets handheld with this camera? Hello, and thank you... I really appreciate that! Great question! I do think the dynamic stabilization is for me the best in-camera stabilizer in any full frame camera, and after the most recent firmware update, seems to be even more improved of late. I also think it is possible to do a shot like that with the camera if you were super careful. However, I wouldn't even try because they make so many affordable and compact gimbals AND the zve1 is so lightweight, I'd fly it on a gimbal. That's really the only way to get that shot. You could still be discreet with it if you're trying to do some gorilla filmmaking. Yet, again maybe you could do it with the stabilization or the center framing feature, but you'd likely need several takes to nail it.
