Looks like a nice truck if you can afford it. My dad's 13' Tundra has 195,000 miles on it. He loves everything about it except the fact that it gets 14mpg
The previous generation of V8 vehicles have set an incredible standard of longevity to overcome. I have doubts the complexity of Dynamic Force engine plus turbo plus hybrid would ever match that.
Kirk, For those who need a common sense, full-size work truck but can survive with less than 400 hp, I hope Toyota comes back with an adequately powerful yet highly efficient powertrain option. 🤔
@@abes7181 Saw your reply just now. Only a few trucks on the market, afaik, are unibody: The Honda RidgeLine and the Ford Mav. Which isn't surprising, according to C&D there are 2 advantages to ladder frames: 1) tensile strength, good for towing 2) lower R&D costs. Essentially, ladder frame vehicles can tow more and are more rudimentary compared to unibody, which is good for workhorses like trucks.
Trd sport sr5 fully loaded $56,000 vs trd pro for 71,000+ ADM which is your choice!!! To me sr5 sport is a no Brainer for me. Is the hybrid actually worth it Kirk??
I do understand that with current inflation $70K does not have the same value it used to have in past but still, $70K for this Tundra is a kind of a lot. Few yrs ago this truck used to cost $35,000
Looks nice. But, the interior feels incredibly cheap. For $70k, it's a hard pass IMO. The powertrain had a bunch of teething issues from the onset, despite coming from Toyota. A complicated hybrid powertrain will only be a detriment to it down the road. For the cost, you'd have to be foolish or a brand loyalist to get this over any of the Big 3 offerings.
Ram is lucky because they haven't had a refresh, but not problem free. Ford GMC/Chevy have quite a few issues, top being transmission and the amazing bust into flames feature. Sure, but let's go with that 😂
I hope Toyota has worked on reliability. (Edit: By that, I meant that I hope it got the small bugs worked out. I’ve been hearing small issues on the Tacoma and Tundra after going from V8 to turbocharged V6. Of course Toyota is still way ahead in reliability even after these small issues)
Where are they having issues with this truck? Wastegate only affected a limited amount of trucks. Backend torque on bolts was fixed before I got mine at the end of 22. So like what??? Maybe they should follow suit with GMC/Chevy and Ford for the insta bust into flames and transmission issues? No ty
Thanks for this interesting perspective comparing with the Sequoia and 4Runner. I'm curious how the adaptive cruise and (maybe) lane centering functioned? Some are great, some barely useable. How did Toyota do on this model?
I live the country and have a mini-farm, hat and boots. Haul hay, ATVs and UTVs , and a camper. Also work remote in cybersecurity. Need to add that to your list 😂
@@naveenthemachine nobody will hit 27mpg. People will tow things and will never hit even close to that. Sure good number for full size trucks but that's a pipe dream. For a compact hybrid truck that's impressive
Hybrid system seems completely useless in my opinion. No major advantage in fuel economy and no advantage in towing. What’s the point? Fast acceleration? Why buy a truck for that? Lol
No tow hooks as if it won’t need them 😅 , bad turning radius , useless bed outlet that can barely power a hair dryer , mismatched headliner even though in the other models it’s black and no 4 Auto .
Those of you who think Toyotas high quality should see this. Interior rattles and subpar interior quality for 70k!? This shows Toyota quality isn’t any better than other brands so you may as well go with the far superior brands

I'd buy a Tundra with a NA V-6 with around 300 hp, like the domestics offer.
Something way cheaper, efficient and hopefully, reliable.
@@jimthumerzs2301 Exactly.
$70k is criminal for a truck, body on frame vehicle have the lowest manufacturing costs of all vehicle types.
Is that true? Why did they move to subframe unibody designs then? Safety reasons?

I called it Tactical Camo...it's called Technical Camo actually! But which sounds better?!?!
I prefer Technical Camel.
Absolutely love the color ❤❤❤❤❤❤ beautiful truck 😊 I definitely miss the 🥺 V8 😔🪦💐 fantastic review 🤘🏾
$70k for this trim? Ouch... and that's not even the most expensive Tundra, either. I'd pick the SR5 trim, for the best value proposition.
I believe the red stripe on the steering wheel is so you know where your wheels are completely center. "TRD Proness" as nothing to do with it.
Solid pickup truck Toyota worth all your coins, sadly Mazda has no pickup trucks in North America thats lame.......
Thank you for sharing this review. Please, my question is that, can I also do more town-riding with this Tundra TRD PRO?
That negative equity looks great bro did you do 84 month financing?
Id recognize Ave Maria everytime! perfect place for low speed test drives

Hybrid is not worth it.
With only an increased of 6mpg with Hybrid, it just isn't worth it.

@@JIPlatium Yes yes! My bad!😅
I really wanted this trim with my Lexus as a good daily and off road type of vehicle but it’s seems I might have to go for the platinum trim

With brake torque is the battery hybrid even working?
70k plus 15 or 20k markup for the ol Plastic Fantastic.
Would those wheels fit on the Lexus LX600?
Probably 🤔
What size wheels tires on this vehicle?
The types of people I see driving these tundras are office workers cosplaying as construction workers and Toyota salesmen.

The TRD Pro should be based off the Platinum/1794!
Yup - Wish it had a few more features especially in the backseat

Is the back window behind the back seats automatic?
Yes it is.

18 - 22 mpg on a daily driver?
no big deal when you have $70k for this truck.
My GS 350 averages 20 to 21. It’s my daily by it’s also 7 years old
Yeah, the color isn't coming across very well - not a fan of the color from what I can see, but perhaps I'd change my mind in person.
I may have missed it but how do you feel about the turning radius? I here it's much worse than the previous generation.
It's terrible. It's like driving a barge in tight spots
@@KirkKreifels That sucks! My 2013 has a great turning radius for its size. Wish the had kept it the same.
Better than the upcoming Taco Turd Pro?
If a vehicle cant be driven everyday then why buy it, unless it is for specific purpose like heavy towing.
Kirk if TRD stands for turd why would I want to be seen that way by the aliens in the balloons being shot down?
I’d pick the f150 powerboost. That inverter / generator it has is a game changer and the mpg is a lot better
