Hollow cornerbead cracks and dents very easily. I mud the corner then mash the cornerbead into it, fasteners if needed. I prefer the paper faced cornerbead for this, but plain metal bead works too. Plastic cornerbead is garbage.

I’m building my home almost all by myself. I am not using metal corners because we have a lot of static electricity and in the old house my wife was getting shocked a lot. I opted for vinyl bullnose bead. I filled the corner with mud and mudded over the flanges. No metal and I think my wife will be happier. The bullnose does require a little extra attention when the baseboard is installed. But it looks great.
That sounds great! Yes, I don’t always use metal corners because they dent easier but I had extra in the shop so I used it on this project. ;). Best of luck on your build!
You're supposed to use 1⅝ vinyl coat nails or nail guns, then tape w mess tape. 1st application use sure bond then use all purpose or lite next 2 coats.
I can tell you 2 things wrong metal needs to be all the way up to ceiling baseboards cover bottom sheetrock needs to be cut back are the metal rocks I have been doing it for 36 years but great finish job keep it up
@@thebuildinginvestor8427sorry for the novice question but you do this at each corner of the room after drywall? I’m looking to drywall a bonus room over a detach garage.
Yes, all outside corners will need a protective corner like this. If you didn’t have corner bead your corner would crumble every time something bumped into it. And it also gives you a nice clean straight corner. On a inside corner you just use tape. I have a short about the inside corner too, if you need it. :) good luck with. 👍
@@thebuildinginvestor8427 Yes, I would like to see the video on inside corner. I just finished putting in the air vents today so I can begin insulating the ceiling and walls.

I agree the plastic is crap. Paper faced is the key for sure.

I have a 9 foot tall open doorway (no door). Do I have to put drywall over the wood door frame or can I put finished 1 bys directly? Thx!
If I understand your question, I think you can put them directly on without drywall :)
You need to mud or glue the corner bead
Screw, mud, sand ,paint
Bunch of "critics"n the comments section as usual
Always ;)! Sometimes it’s helpful but not normally but I’ll take all the attention they want to give my channel! Lol

Screws instead of nails?????
Paper faced corner beads are much stronger and ery rarely cracks
Do you have a video or how to smooth after?
I do not but I’ll try to make one some day. :D a small area you can use a sanding sponge a big area I would use a sander and a vacuum.

Please don’t use drywall screws for this… use drywall nails.
Screws work fine -never had a crack or an issue on a corner
He's apprentice
Right 🤣
Staple it?
That works too :)
more like how to install a corner bead.
Wtf that was not finished.. where’s the mud?
Nope don’t quit your day job. This is NOT how to install bead proper.
American = shoddy
Where can I buy these
Any hardware store. Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards etc. in the dry wall section.
