I'm glad this is backup. Had me thinking of how many hard drives I have used as storage for 15 years now, before that I was backing up videos to old fashioned digital tape. I had always used WD 4TB Elements but now days the smallest I can find is 8TB. I have always had plans to change to a naked external system but my drive (no pun intended) for UA-cam is now at a all time low. I just find it amazing how UA-cam's systems are constantly finding faults with my content Vs their endless morphing rules. There are days when I'm so close to just ending it all. As it stands i'm now a charity for Google, it costs more to make a simple video Vs the income it's ever going to make. Just amazing how this site has collapsed.

Yeah, it's a far cry from those days of milk and honey. And all of my channels are google charities now. I have no adverts except the ones that YT/Goog put on there for themselves. Think of the scam they're running. They take my adverts away, and then put their on adverts on my videos. As for storage, no one can tell me which is better, flash or the old-style HDs. Additionally, no one can tell me how long data is safe on flash drives; 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, or longer. And does frequent powering up of the drives help the longevity of the data storage? Does the data become volatile if the drive in not used for long periods of time?

@@BM22TechReview BM22, this is how the rich get richer. It was never about rewarding producers here, it was all about adding more billions ot Googles profits.

Flip your USB-C cable over and see if it works -- the A->C cables often do not support universal connections in C and that can cause trouble. I don't know if this works properly on C or not so that's worth a test.

$50 and lose RAID? No thanks.

I bought my 4-bay trayless one first, and then I bought this one and then the single. I started at the top, and I've been working my way to the bottom 😁
