Awesome work Steve! This phone was in my grandmothers house as we grew up with my three brothers playing with it. When she passed this was the only thing I asked for and thank God we found someone who knew enough about these things AND could restore it. I fully recommend Steve for his expertise, patience, and honesty in this project.
I'm super happy that you have this phone not just in your possession but restored and modernized! I've always loved the concept of the family heirloom, regardless of what the item is, as a physical tie to those who came before us.
@@TelcoSteve you’re welcome. I also got to tell you that I can’t believe I still have my beige colored wall phone after years. It is made in China and I can’t believe it still works.
I have one that looks just like this except it says it is a Stromberg Carlson. I bought it from a retired Phone Repair guy who fixes old phones. It works great. It even has a push button dialer inside where the batteries used to be. Love the old phones.
Im watching this video because I just bought one exactly like this. The one I bought is still 100% intact with the old eveready batteries and all. The only thing that's messed up is the receiver cap is cracked and the cord is pretty shredded. I found both on E-Bay for less than $20. Mine has a square ceramic lightning arrester that would have mounted somewhere out of sight. Its my understanding that it spent its entire life hanging in a closet of an old mansion. When they upgraded the phone system they just disconnected it and left it hanging there. I paid a guy a measly sum of $60 for it. I don't plan on doing anything to it other than oiling the finish and using it as a wall hanger in my dining room.
Help! I am restoring an Acme wood wall phone like this one. I took out the generator and I am putting in a modern phone system. I need help with the hook up. I need a 4 pull, 2 throw hook switch...... the one I have in the phone is the classic 2 pull 2 throw hook switch. I saw you put a relay in this one. What relay did you use? and how did you hook it up? Hope you can help! Thank you!
That relay is used fro ringing generator not for a hook-switch to pull talk battery in an off hook condition. Not sure what network you are using - so at a disadvantage for a suggestion. Thanks for watching!
@@TelcoSteve well I pulled a network from a telephone from the late 1990's and to make it work I need a 4 pull 2 throw switch. The hook switch on the 1906 is a 2 pull 2 throw and will not work with it. Any ideas?
Please email me pictures of the phone. Outside, top , bottom, mouthpiece (transmitter) and earpiece (receiver). Complete inside panel and entire inside. Email to telcosteve@gmail.com. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!
It depends. Do you have one already? Do want one? How do you want it to work? Ring on incoming call and crank ring at same time with no switches? Dial? No Dial? Where are you located? ---Sorry but don't ship outside of the USA (even though you pay shipping costs). Thanks for watching.
Steve, I have a small hand crank wall phone with the name plate of PALMER BROS. ELECTRICIANS MIANUS, CONN. It has a long post OST receiver. I cannot find that name anywhere on the web. Are you familiar with that company. Can send pictures of phone if needed. Thanks. - RBB
I have no information on that model, however at the time there were many small and less popular companies itching to join the already booming telephone apparatus market. This item could be one of very few examples. Good luck on your research.
I have a very similar phone I would like restored to working again. I believe all the parts are inside. Assuming the worst what is the estimated restoration cost?
Hi Steve, I have this old phone "Telefon A.B.L.M Ericsson Stockholm" It belonged to my great-grandfather and I would like to know what its value is? I have tried to search for this model but I can't find its exact value, I would appreciate your help! Greetings from Mexico City
Sorry for the delay. As far as I know they do not sell batteries like the ones that used to be installed in these. Those batteries were the size of a larger Beer can. I had heard years ago that someone took a 9V and inserted it into a fake mock-up big battery. The reason you can't get a new one that size is because, well...Let's face it. Battery sizes for 1.5Volts - 9Volts DC (low current rating) have been reduced in size over the last 110 years. I imagine a 9 volt transistor battery would work, but then I have not done that. Too busy with 14,000 other things planned. Thanks for watching.
I have an old wall telephone that I want to be repaired so that it’s in working order because once I turn 18 I’m going to get rid of this god forsaken cell phone. How much would you charge for a job like that?
It depends on several factors. Send me an email to telcosteve@gmail.com and include pictures of the front, top, sides and bottom. Send Inside pictures and not partial. Use you god forsaken cell phone to take the pics as that is how it is done. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.

What is the proper height for wall mounting phone
It would depend. Any handicap issues? if not then it also depends if you want to stand or sit. Other than that? mid chest level. Thanks for watching!
