I have always loved these old phones. My Grandfather had one in his shop and we would play with it as kids. It’s a super easy and fun build. I hope you build one. Thanks so much for watching.
Love this! I am buying an old phone similar to this on Tuesday from a seller on fb marketplace - I am hoping I can make a few simple mods to achieve what you have created here! Thank you for a wonderful video. You are an artist!
Nice project Gene! Clever use of the PVC- I was just looking at that stuff in Lowe's the other day but didn't have a use for it. I wasn't thinking this far out of the box.
Thank you so much for continuing to watch the DIY Gene Channel. Let me know if you have any ideas for other creative projects. How is the weather in Australia? I hope you are doing well.
This is a great idea. I found a replica antique phone at the thrift store and this would be a great way to use it. Also I have seen the brass bells on eBay for cheap, so that would save some time and effort making those. I also was excited to hear about this aging black spray paint. Just the thing I need to give that replica a little older feel. Thanks so much for the video.
Savor the irony: I watched this video earlier this evening. I am, of course, a subscriber and have been for quite some time. But that's not the irony. The irony is that I happen to own the actual original of this particular phone. It makes me wish I could afford a land line along with my cell phone. I don't know how to send you a picture of my old phone on this platform, but it is identical to the one you made.
Love the video, it is Genius, I (Dan) love the old style 1930s look. using the funnels was also genius. maybe one day i could get one or make something like it. btw did you want to be on the show for march 28th? we still have that slot open. let me know and if you want you can email me. do you still have the emails?
Gene, do you have LIDL near you? You use exactly the same Parkside tools as I do, even down to the flooring you have on your garage is the same as mine. It seems you might get them from LIDL the German Supermarket chain, hence me asking because I'm in Europe and you are in the US.
That is so funny because I do! I love LIDL’s I have had some really good luck with some tools and other projects. I just picked up a bunch of storage stuff from LIDL yesterday.
@@DIYGene tell me about it..i get the flyer and start marking what i need and get there on that that day at opening, the tools fly off the shelves. Nice to know it exists on the US as well. Ohh and congrats for inspiring others to build!
@@DIYGene what can we say right? I think I'm addicted to their tools and accessories eheh. Sometimes I don't even need it but I still buy it if I think I might need in the future, every week is an opportunity! ;)
You're like the Bob Ross of wood working!! Great vid!
