  • I install a Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake on my 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited. The 2.5T motor comes to life with the new sounds coming from the intake. A must have for anyone looking to really emphasize that turbo sound.
    Sound check at 15:15!!!

    Just did mine today. Ordered the shorter K&N and was able to keep the air diverter in. In time I'll make an ABS box that bolts to the stock mount points for the original filter box to keep the ambient engine bay temps more "away"than the setup is now. Great vid!

    • @floridabornoutdoors
      @floridabornoutdoors  10 місяців тому +1

      I had a friend make a good point to me. The ambient air temp in the engine bay makes very little difference on a turbo engine with an inter/aftercooler. I never thought of it like that. So putting it in an enclosed box may not be totally necessary. I'd be interested to hear when you do to see if it made a difference.

    Hi. are you sure this is the MAF sensor at 4:20 ? I have the same engine on Santa Fe 2022 and was looking for the MAF sensor, but this one has only tubes. Where is the cable plug ? I don't see any cable there. So, if you know where it is I will be thankful if you share.

    • @floridabornoutdoors
      @floridabornoutdoors  Рік тому

      Sure is. Depending on the type, it can have the sensor right at the tip or down a tube. I believe that this type is deeper into the tube. My BMW was right at the tip and didn't have any hoses connected to the back like on the Hyundai

      It's really for sound more than anything. Performance intakes do very little for otherwise stock cars. The main advantage is never have to change your filter again. You just clean it and put it back in.

    Just Some FYI K&N makes a New Air filter that does the same thing with out taking everything apart and replaced the Factory air filter with the new K&N ! I did this to my Santa Cruz and Completely eliminated the Turbo lag. Raises mpg as much as 5 mpg . Its awesome deference.

      They can deny anything they want and by the time you get a lawyer involved, you could have bought a new car. 😉 Just saying, as a former performance speed shop owner and current manager for a nationwide retail custom shop... Moss Magnussen is there but very difficult to enforce and takes lawyers to take advantage of since most dealers are crooked and have much more money to spend ruining your life than you do theirs. Again... the laws exist but dealers will go to court in most cases than follow it... in addition... most dealership service advisors dont even know about cars much less the law regarding modification to said car. They will do/say whatever company policy is which in most cases is, "if ANY modification is present, it boids all warranty packages including purchased ones through the dealer" and that vould be something as stupid as toping off your coolant or having an oil change done outside the dealer. Read the fine print signed when buying the vehicle. It also can supercede law especially in extended warranty scenarios.

    A warm air intake on a turbo vs cai is not really as big an issue on a turbo car that is intercooled than a NA vehicle. NA vehicles will be his harder performance wise especially in warm months. Intercooled turbo cars, not AS MUCH. The larger intake flow will compensate for minute temparature variant exiting the intercooler. Will the air be warmer? Potentially... but the degrees are going to be small at best. Please remember the compression of the air in a turbo already generates massive heat, hence the need for an intercooler. These cars are engineered to run well in the hottest of temps... think Vegas at 120 degrees in the summer. The charge air is already 160+ hoing through the intake. Sensors read this and compensate. Same with a WAI. SO performance increase? Potential. Minimal but potential. Cool sounds? Sure. Ram air nonsense in the video talking about running cold air over the filter? Rubbish and completely nonsense. Effectively... you may decrease lag slightly whilst lowering mpg and getting a "cool sound". Will I do it? Maybe with a better quality cone such as a K&N and a barrier setup potentially, but with my pedal commander and drop in K&N my mileage is already worse. But my 0-60 is at 5.5 at elevation (4600 ish) and eat the bubarus (wrx and the like) for dinner on the commute home. So all good. Worth the $80 fillups every week or two.

      Does the drop in change the sound at all?

    • @thehornblasterjohnny
      @thehornblasterjohnny 8 місяців тому

      @honoredsage4946 no... not at all. Not noticeable anyway... i have a full on AEM intake which I changed from a K&N setup after the drop in. K&N is much louder but was open without the box. Less filtering. AEM has the dry filter setup and is claimed to filter 2 times as much with 15hp improvement. I plan to test the AEM SETUP with both AEM and K&N comparisons to see the power outputs. I forsee the K&n being more performance based but can use the AEM for when I clean the K&N. Lets see but dynod at 392 awhp and 427lbft at the wheels after exhaust, tune and intake. Wheels are also 14lb hypergrams from konig so yeah. I DUST tesla model 3s all day. The top of the line awd high battery ones get me till 30mph or so but after. Walk in the park.
