I've read a lot about the Kupcinet Murder story - I even had a good friend who had a LONG talk with Mark Goddard about it - and I'm convinced she committed suicide. Goddard said he thought for YEARS that Andy Prine had probably killed her, but his alibi was sound. She wrote a suicide note (you can see it on wiki) she had done a few things in those previous months that indicted a mental unsoundness - she had an abortion in Mexico of Prine's baby, she sent him and herself threatening notes, she was hooked on drugs, she was depressed - all of which adds up to self-harm. The door was locked when her guests left the night before, and it was still locked when Goddard and his wife got there the next morning. Kup and his wife refused to accept the suicide - she mentions her mother in the note - and he was a big enough guy to pressure the DA office to say it was murder. She probably hit her neck when she collapsed on a coffee table before rolling onto the sofa where they found her - the ME then said her neck had signs of being choked... never heard she was raped, as others are saying, don't think that's true. Anyway, that's my two cents, good channel, thank you.

She had a broken hyoid bone in her throat, which almost always results from Strangulation...she didn't strangle herself to death. Of course Mark Goddard would defend his friend Andrew Prine. Why are people so easily dissuaded. If you were the one murdered, you would want people to look into it more. Someone is guilty.

Hmm. Except- she was violated...from many reports.
I don't believe she was "elective departure ". If anything, someone could of forced her to write a note.
Most women, would not willingly expose themselves in the nude to exit. Especially from that generation.
      It's intended to humiliate.
Accidentally crushing your Neck/ Trachea in the living room, casually rolling onto a sofa is pretty far fetched...........
I'm sorry for the loss- however they need to exhume her body for DNA matches.
The fact they haven't, to rule out any possibilities or kinks- says much.
Her father had power- and probably knew far more than he could publicly express. Privy to influencers of his day.
      A parent KNOWS. Intrinsic Intuition.

Sounds a lot like Marilyn Monroe- eerily enough.
Were all these women " unstable " or were they vulnerable.... knowing too much??? 🤔
They all had positions of dangerous proportions...

Also, I'm sorry if I sounded rude. I've worked as a grief counselor for nearly twenty years. I've heard every type of passing scenario, as you can imagine!
      This just isn't plausible...
Anyway- apologies if I came across condescending in any way. Certainly wasn't my intention. :)

That was really creepy for me, I grew up in Skokie, born in '58. Got my license in 1975. Me and my friends would pile into my mom's huge Buick, smoke a shitload of weed and went hot rodding all through the cemetery for hours. In all the times we did this we never got kicked out. My family is there and soon I will be too. Our plot is on the Old Orchard Road side of the cemetery. Very creepy.

Isn't weird how that closeted generation of actors/politicians/and other notables, who ended up dying of AIDS ended up looking like Rock Hudson right before he died? Curly hair, mustache, & thin (for obvious reasons)

@@lemankurtz8950 No, I don't see it as weird. That was just the style of the time period.
What I do find "weird" is how disgustingly the AIDS virus and it's victims were treated at the time. I understand the why but that certainly doesn't make it right..

The cold case of Cookie Kupcinet is being held up by members of the Outfit. To exhume this poor girl's body would reveal a lot of things previously withheld from the general public and the police. A lot of closet skeletons would be unearthed if authorities would reopen this case.

On the Karyn Kupcinet murder-- In 1988, Irv Kupcinet wrote a memoir. In it he said neither he nor his wife believed Andrew Prine had anything to do with Karyn's murder. Though he had a daughter who appeared on the show as one of Marcia's friends, he was openly gay. His passing was felt deeply by all the cast members!

To begin with, the only way you can test sperm is "if" at the time of the rape/murder a rape kit is done and the "swabs" are taken and properly preserved. Sperm does not survive inside the body, it is a "living cell," and dies usually within 24 hrs in normal warm body temperatures, but more rapidly in a dead body, as the body temperature cools. Then when a body undergoes autopsy plus embalming that type of evidence is destroyed. It would not serve any purpose to exhume the body. Unless there was a rape kit done in 1963, which they ~ even in Hollywood/Burbank, CA did not do, in 1963. The 'bone' you could not think of, is the "hyoid bone," also called, the "floating bone." I am retired LEO, and just happened across this video.

DNA recovery depends on many things, if the body has been burned, you might find some in the teeth but there are conditions where DNA is preserved enough to be examined. Mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother, your DNA would be compared with hers in order to properly identify you. Since Karyn was raped, there could have been semen left in her but whether or not it would still be viable is not certain. You want to gather DNA evidence as soon as possible because it can degrade. I doubt the killers of Karyn will be found or are even still alive; where ever they are, may they pay for their crimes.

To look for any forensic DNA evidence of the perpetrator, the clothing of the victim has to be tested. Hopefully, the clothing would've been stored properly or, finding foreign DNA that could be used becomes impossible.

Unfortunately in this particular case, after thinking about it for a while, being very tenuous to the Kennedy assassination conspiracy, and other factors like high powered political people, the actor Prine, I’ll bet the Los Angeles police never saved any of the evidence.
