I've read a lot about the Kupcinet Murder story - I even had a good friend who had a LONG talk with Mark Goddard about it - and I'm convinced she committed suicide. Goddard said he thought for YEARS that Andy Prine had probably killed her, but his alibi was sound. She wrote a suicide note (you can see it on wiki) she had done a few things in those previous months that indicted a mental unsoundness - she had an abortion in Mexico of Prine's baby, she sent him and herself threatening notes, she was hooked on drugs, she was depressed - all of which adds up to self-harm. The door was locked when her guests left the night before, and it was still locked when Goddard and his wife got there the next morning. Kup and his wife refused to accept the suicide - she mentions her mother in the note - and he was a big enough guy to pressure the DA office to say it was murder. She probably hit her neck when she collapsed on a coffee table before rolling onto the sofa where they found her - the ME then said her neck had signs of being choked... never heard she was raped, as others are saying, don't think that's true. Anyway, that's my two cents, good channel, thank you.
She had a broken hyoid bone in her throat, which almost always results from Strangulation...she didn't strangle herself to death. Of course Mark Goddard would defend his friend Andrew Prine. Why are people so easily dissuaded. If you were the one murdered, you would want people to look into it more. Someone is guilty.

To begin with, the only way you can test sperm is "if" at the time of the rape/murder a rape kit is done and the "swabs" are taken and properly preserved. Sperm does not survive inside the body, it is a "living cell," and dies usually within 24 hrs in normal warm body temperatures, but more rapidly in a dead body, as the body temperature cools. Then when a body undergoes autopsy plus embalming that type of evidence is destroyed. It would not serve any purpose to exhume the body. Unless there was a rape kit done in 1963, which they ~ even in Hollywood/Burbank, CA did not do, in 1963. The 'bone' you could not think of, is the "hyoid bone," also called, the "floating bone." I am retired LEO, and just happened across this video.

@@FacesoftheForgotten I HAD to write tonight, the second you said Prine, .. My thought was Andrew, that guys a scumbag, everyone and his dog know s it!! Would love to talk to you, sometime!
DNA recovery depends on many things, if the body has been burned, you might find some in the teeth but there are conditions where DNA is preserved enough to be examined. Mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother, your DNA would be compared with hers in order to properly identify you. Since Karyn was raped, there could have been semen left in her but whether or not it would still be viable is not certain. You want to gather DNA evidence as soon as possible because it can degrade. I doubt the killers of Karyn will be found or are even still alive; where ever they are, may they pay for their crimes.
Great input here. Agree. I was focused on hoping that there was something left (killer’s or killers’ skin) under her fingernails as she scratched for her life, because she was strangled.
@@jenniferandrew2470 only the swimmer’s! They can get DNA from semen years and years later if the specimens were collected and stored properly. Unfortunately I guess in the 60’s they wouldn’t have imagined the improvements in science 🧬 & technology
Andrew Prine died on Halloween 2022. The Hathaway guy died 20 years ago, but Edward Stephen (or Stephen Edward) Rubin is 81 (Birthday is in November). is still living. I feel the way you do about last ones to see Karyn alive. Interesting walk through the cemetery seeing the different Graves and hearing a little about different ones. I had never heard about the stones on Jewish graves.
Kudos to you for trying to help solve the cold case of "Cookie" Karyn Kupcinet! It's never ever too late to find her murderer(s), deceased or alive. I know you'll keep us updated. 🤗
Btw, Karyn got hooked on 'speed' thanks to her mother who started her taking them. Also, her mother had the idea that Karyn (from birth) should be a star. Poor kid didn't have a chance! (the bone in her neck that was broken is called the 'hyoid' bone)
My mom knew Esse, I heard about Karen's death most of my life. I am from Chicago. Karen's niece p!aged a drug addicted mom on Y &R in the 80's or early 90's. I never knew about the speed. Her late dad wrote a memoir years ago.
When they collect old DNA, they do it through teeth or deep in bones. A perpetrator’s DNA would not be within a tooth or bone and would decompose along with the body.
I concur. When a tooth is used, it's the tooth pulp/soft inner core that's used. To look for any forensic DNA evidence of the perpetrator, the clothing of the victim has to be tested. Hopefully, the clothing would've been stored properly or, finding foreign DNA that could be used becomes impossible.
@@badkitty4922 - that’s fantastic information. Unfortunately in this particular case, after thinking about it for a while, being very tenuous to the Kennedy assassination conspiracy, and other factors like high powered political people, the actor Prine, I’ll bet the Los Angeles police never saved any of the evidence. She was an amazing woman. She was so smart. They absolutely killed her 100% she was about to break that Kennedy case wide wide open. Anyway I know you know all of this, I was just super excited to see someone else does too. I wish I could go in a Time Machine and meet Dorothy, a very inspiring woman.
@@FacesoftheForgotten I vaguely recall that incident. She was an investigative reporter who was found in her bed dead. Rumors swirled about her being murdered because she supposedly had information on the Kennedy case. She used to be a regular participant on an old game show too. I just can't recall the name of it. It's definitely a very interesting case that raises alot of questions.
@@donna6368 What's my Line was the show
@@FacesoftheForgotten She also did reporting on the famous case in Ohio the Dr Sheperd case who killed his pregnant wife the tv series The Fugitive was based on him theres a book out on her titled Reporter who knew too much by Mark Shaw brilliant book makes you think love your channel just came across it👍👏👍👏
Just subscribed!! As strange as it sounds. I enjoy watching these and learning facts about the known and unknown.
welcome aboard Robert, great to have you with us! a great group here we have!!
Who in the heck is talking about sperm? I’m talking about DNA from under her fingernails. 👍
That's nasty it smells in the mosleum they need to clean it up,,,what an insult to the people visiting there
If the mausoleum has a structural defect in its crypt drainage it would explain where the smells are coming from.
let the dead burry the dead🙏🏻the ground the dirt is the best
Cookie looks so much like Elizabeth Taylor.
You are right!!!
Very much so! But her cheek bones, wow! Beautiful woman.
I can see it as well. All before my time but beautiful.Im a Marilyn Monroe fan...but "ALWAYS" thought that Elizabeth Taylor was truly naturally beautiful...Marilyn was more Sexy and Alluring...just my opinion...but good comparison 👍
I noticed that too
@@FacesoftheForgotten I HAD to write tonight, the second you said Prine, ..
@@FacesoftheForgotten dna under the fingernails would last but not semen dies in 7 days.
PS It's so nice when you share pics of the wildlife!
This video will become a classic. Absolutely great! Amy
I would think some of these actors would have better tomb stones
True, most people walking by would probably never make the connection to who he was. It might have been his wish if he was not a "showy" person.
My same thoughts
Agree with all that money 💰 they make wow
Aww Robert Reed, only 60 😢 I loved that show as a kid! 🕊♥️
Love your channel ! you have a new sub from the UK.
Me too! Fascinating on so many levels!
Such a beautiful cemetery. The most beautiful I have ever seen.
Great channel. I love how respectful you are towards the people you talk about.
I agree, let’s help Cookie and bring justice for her.
Really enjoying you posts!
When they collect old DNA, they do it through teeth or deep in bones. A perpetrator’s DNA would not be within a tooth or bone and would decompose along with the body.
bummer. great intel, ty.
It was very haphazard and disgraceful.
And her parents have passed on, I remember her father “Kup” was very prominent in Chicago but he’s been dead a long time now. I was going to track the descendants down, kids but ran into dead ends and the one son I found was kind of a, well -let’s just say “not much there”
@@FacesoftheForgotten thanks, sweetie!😘
I have a keen interest in forensics, and sciences dealing with the treatment and care of the dead.
@@markthoms385 Yes. Properly preserved are the key words.
Working my way throught all your streams starting here there many I've missed starting here ron.
Yep that one’s pretty close to the beginning. Be careful, early on they’re pretty brutal productions, shaky camera, learning back then.
Lance corporal was Rudolfo rank in the marines! He was not the pilot! They crashed on a training mission and the bodies never recovered.
I was in the movie Gettysburg with Andrew Prine......Met him and talked with him a lot
My friend Olivia’s dad, Ron Maxwell directed that film.
@@auntjemima9768 Ron is a great guy. I still communicate with him on Facebook now and again. I really wished we were able to do the third movie.
This is so amazing to see. Wonderful seeing people connect on a video.
Was he a good guy? In your opinion?
@@heatherhent4445 In my opinion yes he was a good guy. He wasn’t standoffish or anything. He mingled with us and took time to chat. I wasn’t aware of his connection to this until this video. I am not sure what to think of it but as they say anything is possible.
Cookie was on a episode of The Andy Griffith Show. It was the episode “A Feud is a Feud” and she played the Juliet role in the episode. She was really beautiful and had a promising future in film. So sad.
Find a Grave Alan Curtis Section C, Lot 407, in the same grave with Chris H. Ueberroth
Why in same grave??!
It would be the hyoid bone you're thinking of.
I saw Robert Reed perform at Pheasant Run circa 1973
I love your work man, thank you so much for your research on the many, many lives of people that matter in the world!!!!!
I agree with you, sounds like they did it, and trying to blame the mob. It's a shame, but they sometimes get away with murder. She was a beautiful lady, I remember watching different shows with her in them.
Nobody gets away with anything. GOD'S justice is unavoidable. You reap what you sow either in this life or in the next where it's far worse.
I agree. They could find out through DNA if they wanted to. However I believe they don’t want to.
This is a sad video but good as always i really enjoy your video honey you tell the stories so good
I think Otto was Alan's brother or some relation because Alan Curtis was born in 1909. I remember Ilona Massey from a Marx Brothers movie and "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman".
I love to hear there stories about some of these people. I find these stories so interesting. I wish I could go back in time to see what it was living in these different era's. I didn't know Irv's daughter was murdered. I remember seeing Andrew Prine in some different things. Tom you're a wealth of knowledge.
My grandma and great grandparents are buried there.
So are my Grandparents . About 3 rows west of hers . Best Wishes .
just discovered this video and really enjoyed it,all the best from England
While you could examine Karyn's DNA, it would be unlikely that you could get any useful perp DNA at this point.
Unless a rape kit was performed AND stored properly.
@@barbwire539 but only Karyn's.
I love your little trips.. Love it.. keep it up.. Love it!!!
Otto could not possibly be the father. he was born in 1895 and Alan was born in 1909. the dates don't add up. dad would've been 14 when Alan was born.
And.....
I enjoyed the video. There are so many fascinating stories . Thank you for Shari them
I am appreciative of how respectful you always are of the graves, Good on you, sir.
I used to like doing this when I was younger but all my family and friends called me a weirdo. So I appreciate your videos I wanted to start at the beginning.
the early episodes are tough to watch, just learning.
Justice for Cookie 💖
The mausoleum looks like the halls of a high school.
Thank you very much I'm catching up on your videos
me too🥰
your cat is so cute 😸
Chris’s son, Harry Ueberroth (screen name Alan Curtis) is buried in an unmarked grave with his father
I hope justice will be served for her. There should be closure for her death. Thanks Ron for sharing her story.
