    i’m a distant cousin to melissa, my mom used to babysit her and was 14 when she passed. I live right next to Somonauk and there is not a single person who doesn’t know this story. I was never allowed to go anywhere alone as a kid because of Brian Dugan. Thank you for being respectful towards the victims, as they were so much more than what that monster made them to be.

      I heard about him and the names of the victims but nothing about minor details. Thankfully with videos like we learn a lot. I rode through Illinois last year in a cross country trip when my childhood friend from Perth Australia came to America for the first time last year but I did not get a chance to stop anywhere there in the state. It does look like a beautiful state there with a lot of country type towns. It's a shame such nice places have such notorious murderers.

    I feel so sorry for Missy's best friend. Even though she was just a child, she must have carried a lot of guilt for hopping out of the car and running away. When the fight, flight or freeze kicks in, sometimes it can be hard to overcome that instinct and change it to one of the others when needed, especially as a child. I hope she got some help so that she can live her life free of guilt and honour her best friend with everything she does

    I've kind of become a graveyard afficianado as I get older. I'm now 63, and much more aware of my mortality and interested in the history of those who came and went before us. I have long been into true crime, but get disgusted at how the killers get so much press. I love that you tell the stories of the victims, and are so respectful of the gravesites, and pay special attention to veterans. My dad was badly injured in Korea 24th infantry and a sergent, and my last significant other was an air force captain-a pilot during Viet Nam.

    • @NorthwoodsShooter
      @NorthwoodsShooter 3 роки тому

      Hello, and thank you for the reply. Let me start off by saying that I greatly appreciate and respect all you do. Your dedication to your passion shines brightly through to your viewers on each and every episode.
      Having spent countless days over the decades traveling with my father to track down genealogy; visiting libraries, speaking with funeral homes, historical societies, tracking down rumors, family folklore, dead-ends and looking for headstones (or lack there of), I appreciate and applaud your efforts, and thank you for producing such great content.
      I believe my comment on the other post may have been taken a bit out of context, and perhaps it was my approach. For that, I apologize. The intended receiver of that message was for others (your viewers) who may be inspired by your hard work and dedication, and who may want to do a little research on their own. Perhaps there is a cemetery nearby where your viewers live where they might want to go out and try to do some similar work, and I felt some of those tips may have been of help to them. Some just may not know where to start. This is why I said “as I’m sure you are well aware”, as I know, you know the techniques I was trying to convey. I was just simply trying to point out to them that there may be more ways of identifying a worn gravestone.
      Hell, I’m personally tickled pink to see a fellow Chicagoland guy like me, take interest in these great, and all too often forgotten stories. As I watch your videos, I’m often reminded of the late, great Richard Crowe who himself was a great storyteller. I also find your journeys often pick up (or tell the rest of the story) where books like Richard Lindbergh’s “Return to the Scene of the Crime” and “Return Again to the Scene of the Crime” leave off.
      Again, thank you for all you do. I truly look forward to more of your works.

    Great job covering this story. I was a kid when this happened but I remember it was in the news almost daily. The prosecutor almost killed two men is just horrible. Time, money, energy wasted prosecuting innocent men while leaving the guilty free to hurt more people.

    • @sidmeyer2011
      @sidmeyer2011 2 роки тому

      The police often grab someone to make it seem they are effective and silence criticism for not finding the criminal. Prosecutors want to seem as if they are tough on crime and will railroad a potential suspect. Plea deals are the worst. When they have a weak case they can threaten an innocent person with frightening consequences and offer a much lighter sentence if a guilty plea is made. If guilty, a real criminal gets too light a sentence because the prosecutor doesn't do the work to prove a case. If innocent, scared and pressured people will plead guilty because the alternative stated if they do not is a risk they dare take. They know they are innocent, they know the prosecutor is unjustly framing them, and they feel if the prosecutor is dishonest enough to frame them, he is probably dishonest enough to fabricate evidence and convince a jury for the maximum sentence, so they take the deal. A solid case does not require a plea deal. Also, bribes or well connected people can get a watered-down sentence in a plea deal. l am always suspect of the innocence, guilt, or justice achieved in plea deals.

    How these parents suffered, it's bad enough for your loved ones to die on any circumstance, but to die by the hands of a slime ball like this is horrible. For Opal to have seen her friend for the last time, being taken away is awful. She was a victim also, to remember this for the rest of her life. These children are in heaven, God takes all children home with him they are innocents, they have no sins. They are at peace in the arms of the Father. He should have gotten the death penalty, but I am assuming they do not have that there. The poor nurse never saw him coming, you have to watch everything around you, they are out everywhere. Sorry I do tend to get upset when it comes to senseless murders, and the demons who do them. Thank you, your narrations are great.

Why we pay for these peoples free meals in warm beds, while there victims are 6 feet under, I will never know. It’s a society we live in, the society of compassion even for killers and horrible devils. The woman that killed our daughter in Colorado got no jail time at all.

    The horror the victims had to endure. Incomprehensible.

    Wow. Grew up there in aurora. When I was 4 in 1978, I had an incident with a man who lured me into a remote area. He let me go after exposing himself to me. Seeing his photos, I believe it could have been him. I believe my guardian Angel saved me that day.
    That was Randall Rd and just an fyi... you started on Illinois Ave (not Galena). Randall was 4 lanes back then. Spent many years near that whole area, including Mooseheart.
    I appreciate your respect to these poor victims. 🙏 peace to all those beautiful souls.

    I think there may come a day when you can walk up to a grave, push a button and a life-sized hologram of the dead person will come up and tell you all about their life and death. Can you imagine going to a cemetery and seeing holograms popping up all over the place talking to people? It would be an eerie feeling.

    A freind of mine who is rip tried to kill dugan in pontiac. He stabbed him several times. The two hispanic guys that got locked up for these murders before dugan were latin kings. When they were released for wrongful conviction and dugan was locked up the kings put a hit on him and he was in p.c. my freind Robinhood aka Andrew Englesman was one of the first non hispanic latin kings and they had him check in to p.c. Tho he stabbed dugan several times dugan did not die. They gave hood 30 years for this.

    That is so devastating what happened to these young ladies. Donna's Dad having a heart attack and dying 5 mos later was heart breaking. Then the Mom was grieving alone.
    Beautiful music during the drone coverage. God bless these three girls and families.
    No telling if there were other victims he attacked and they were just too scared to say they were raped. He probably worked up to rape - murder from rape.
    By the way ladies everywhere: rape should not be embarrassing for the victim. The victim didn't do anything wrong. The criminal is the one with the sick, evil mind and deviant behavior who cannot control their impulses.

      2 years later, watching this vlog and still feel the same. Still noticed the same. I am at least consistent.
      Women should feel encouraged to tell their story as it could be a survival guide to others.
      One heifer at work tried to discourage me from telling about the violent attacks done by my then senior leadership but I challenged her and she shut up.
      Ladies, talk to people you trust. If those people change toward you afterwards, at least you learned they are not your tribe and you can avoid them in the future. It is good to thin out the fake friends.

    it breaks my heart..I know how it is myself. 2 times was tried to do me bad. Once shortly before kindergarten (I could run away) and twice when I was at a party in my youth. On the way home, a man with a stocking over his head ran after me on a dark path. I didn't notice because I was listening to music and I had taken alcohol and some drugs. I was not aware of the evil situation. He grabbed my shoulder. Because he was naked I laughed at him and made jokes about his "little thing" between his legs. Then he ran away. I stopped the next car and informed the police. Other girls were sexually abused by him, the police later told me and got on the news here. I think about it often when I see something like that on youtube. The world is full of bad people.

      @@michelesmall3858 I'm glad that you, and I too, can laugh about it today. At that time it was my stupid, naive and puerile nature, coupled with the desire to party and drugs, that made me react like this! But all drugs do not protect! Please don't take it as an example. Yes, it's a bad time we live in unfortunately. Especially here in Germany.
