  • Dino’s Tinker Shed, S2-Ep22. Repairing cracked plastic with a stapler?
In this episode I review a plastic stapler, not a stapler made of plastic but rather a stapler made to repair plastic parts such as car bumpers, snowmobile hoods, motocross fenders or just about anything made of plastic that has broken.
This stapler cost me around $35.00 Canadian on Amazon and was one of the least expensive units I found. It is a no name brand but is a claimed 50 watts and also came with around 100 “stapples’ in four different shapes.
As always, I have included Time Codes for you to skip though if you want to revisit a section:
    00:00- Cold opening
    00:50- Intro
    01:09- Overview
03:27- Review of what is in the box
06:22- What are we going to fix?
    07:23- prepping the stick
07:54- How to use the tool
    09:27- Using the tool
    13:26- Testing the repair
    14:54- Airbox repair
    15:29- Summary

Hey Dino, neat tool and great demonstration!
Although it's strong enough on its own, try using a soldering iron and steel wool for extra strength.
I shattered one of the side fairings (into about 7 pieces) on my KLX300 four+ months ago and the steel wool heated/pushed into the hidden side of the fairing is incredibly strong!
Still holding up even after riding tight trails with lots of branches AND after a few falls. 👍🏽

Happy First youtube Birthday!!!! I've loved watching you at work. Your videos are fuss free, informative, entertaining and very well constructed. I never fail to learn something. I'm not sure where you thought you would be at the start of year 2 but if you are disappointed please don't be. You have many loyal fans. Looking forward to to what DTS has to offer in year 2 !!!!!!!!! And btw following your safari tank install video made the job I did yesterday for the first time so much easier.

Wow, thank you very much, I never figured someone would pick up my UA-cam birthday!
I am really glad you are enjoying the content as much as I enjoy making it, It has been a fun first year and the fans make it all worth it, it really feels more like friends than fans and I feel the channel is as much yours as mine.
Thank you again, you made my day 😃.

That’s a fun tool! I can think of many uses for sure. Also it looks satisfying to smoosh it into the plastic lol

Wow, how clever. Cant say ive thought of such a solution. Im gonna have to keep this in mind.
    Edit:
By the way since im the first comment, i just wanna say that the production quality of your videos is incredible! And then I looked at your short backlog! I dont know who does the editing/filmography but it seems like they have experience! Have to imagine its you Dino.
Anyway, just swapped a 78 CT90 for a 2012 DR650 and your videos have been a great help! Thanks for making them!

Glad you found the videos interesting and helpful and congratulations on your new DR650!
I do all the filming and editing myself, I started about a year ago now I guess and am learning as I go, its nice to get positive feedback on the content, I see it so much it's hard to gauge its quality so thank you very much.

I know you were giving us a simple demo but I would have gone the whole hog and firstly glued with cyanoacrylate then used your staples then smear JB weld over then filed flush to see how tough it got. I reckon it could have possibly been just as good as before . The ultimate test would have been the kids. Well done. I enjoyed that vid Dino.

Guys and our gadgets. You still got them hockey skills, Dino. Nice vid but (not sure if it's you or UA-cam) a lot of adds...

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 роки тому

The adds are a bit of both, in order to receive some return on the videos I have to have the adds, I hope you understand, I would have them add free if I could.
