You know, when a contemporary figure leaves us and moves into history, we feel loss, but for those of us who love history and cherish this country's past, they are never really that far away. We thank you for a lifetime of service and achievement for this country Senator Dole. God bless you and sleep well.

I was very fortunate to have met Senator Dole and I even shook his hand! He was in Rochester, NY for a Lifetime Inspiration Award which was presented to him by Lifetime Assistance, a nonprofit agency for people who have disabilities. He wasn't supposed to sign autographs that evening, but he signed one of his books for me. This was back in 1999. I have a photo of him and I around here somewhere and I still have that book. Bob will be greatly missed and I'll always remember his kindness.

Yes, Bob Dole prided himself in the Senate as a great compromiser, and to him that was not a weakness but a way of getting the job done in a way that benefitted everyone.... not just those who had the upper hand. One can only hope some of that spirit rubbed off on politicians still around today.

I'm not sad he's gone. He took handouts when he was in need then years later tried taking handouts from others. He's the reason why I turned to the Democrats. 1996 was the year I was legally allowed to vote and his campaign repulsed me. He moved me from the Center to the Left, where I stayed till Hillary Clinton ran the last time. I won't celebrate his death, but I won't mourn nor honor him either.

I hope Mrs. Dole does not invite Cheeto to the service, as George Bush senior and his wife also decreed.

CBS wouldn't give Bob Dole the time of day when he was alive. Now suddenly he's a great man. Liberal hypocrisy.

CBS wasn't considered conservative or liberal in Bob's tenure. Reporters on the from lines in Vietnam may have been anti-war, but that's not liberal or conservative. All that footage of Dole was CBS, ABC, etc.
      So, you haven't convinced me.
