Heya, just to make things clear as I get some messages about the title. The Sarafan were racially prejudice against the vampire race, attempting genocide. I don't want to spoil the video but that's the tie in to Raziels racist past... anyway, hope that clears things up!
Vampires aren't a race they are an abomination of undead forcing a soul into a body. In any case anyone who seriously cries about crap like "muh racism" irl let alone about an in game world is immature intellectually and emotionally. By every single metric of measurement mass third world immigration has made every European nation far worse diversity is just a different way to say colonialism except with none of the innovations and technology being added just crime/child grooming/economic burdens etc. The thing is though people on the far Marxist left can't handle grown up discussion they think being right is about being able to explain why you're offended or outraged at something. Moral/Traditional/economic/quality/criminal decline in society is something they don't want to hear about...ever...
Your not wrong about them but the vampires weren't saints either Kain for example was already a bad human and became worse as a vampire and his own corruption spread to his sons as he raised them but even then what little they recalled as humans was more or less gone unless they tried hard to remember but the worst monster of them all was always beyond the veil between the worlds.
1. Raziel's opinion and morals shifting every time a piece of new information is revealed makes him a *really* interesting protagonist , mainly cause it makes him very proactive 2. The vampires in Legacy of Kain, in general, are thematically treated as "fallen angels". Something that only becomes more apparent as the games go on. 3. The tomb guardian, nicknamed by the fanbase as Morlock, and his entire interaction with Raziel is recycled dialogue from the original version of the game where he would encounter Turel, the penultimate boss, who would be guarding Kain's sanctuary near the tail-end of the game Fun fact: Kain isn't able to create vampires by transmitting the curse traditionally because he was created through Necromancy. But he *did* obtain the ability to "breathe" parts of his essence into corpses to call their souls back into their bodies and then afflict them with the curse. Hence why Kain was able to raise the Seraphan warriors despite their bodies being so heavily decayed.
Raziel learns that the vampires were the *original* guardians: "The Sarafan were fanatical murderers, and I lead them to kill the last of them... And now I gladly march to complete the circle, and end my own past selves life!"
The funny thing about this scene is that before Raziel found out that he was once a Sarafan, technically, he was right about them, especially when considering just how monstrous they were in comparison to the vampires they swore to destroy. The difference between his thoughts circa pre-Sarafan revelation and his thoughts during his visit to the Sarafan era was that vampires back then were actually persecuted and relatively harmless, with certain exceptions, while the vampires of his era were vicious dominators that flaunted their superiority. The morality shift throughout the series is SO incredibly fascinating, as it actually feels rather realistic to how these sorts of things can go down, especially with the themes of the persecuted becoming the persecutors, and vice versa.
Damn this series needs to be remastered/rebooted. It's been so long since I played them it'll feel like a completely new experience if reboots came out. Played Soul Reaver, Defiance and Blood Omen 2, didn't play the original Blood Omen though nor that Nosgoth multiplayer game they brought out.
Would love to see you dive into the world of Rivellon and the lore of the Divinity series. in particular divinity 2 and the history of the dragon knight. Who wouldn't want the power to turn into a dragon?
That voice acting cast, just 🤩 Wow. That game holds up today for any “people” that haven’t yet played, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PLAY!.❤❤❤ the story is so mind blowing. And heart breaking. So get it.
I don't think the Sarafan viewed vampires as a "race", as most of the vampires then were turned from humans. I believe vampirism was considered a "plague".
There is finally a time paradox that couldn't be avoided, and it makes my head hurt. Just how many times can raziel kill his brothers, and it turns out himself without causing a paradox?
Just want to say Im enjoying this series. Soul Reaver was one of those games where I would thumb through the strategy guide at my local EB but would never dare ask my religious parents to buy for me. Cool to finally see the story vicariously.
I love that you delved into the real world inspiration for the names of Kain's sons. I always enjoy hearing about angels and demons, outside of their religious context
Is it not telling how the Elder God allows Auriel to guide not only Kain, but also Raziel? I find her level of depth of despair, and lack of foresight so very interesting. She fell so far somewhere along the way, and I cannot help but wonder who taught her, who created her flawed/misguided thought? Despite her awareness of the Hylden and their machinations, she falls victim to them just the very same
The spirits and vampires of the Soul Reaver Era are most definitely Sentient. However just how Sapient they are is of great question. They respond to stimulus quite well, being very awear of such things usually, like any other. Buuuuut how much they think and process info are very very questionable 😆
Some people might not like that you said "Christian Mythology." I, on the other hand, do. Reason being is pretty much all of the named archangels and a lot of the more mystic elements of Christianity come from a series of books called "The Apocrypha". These books were written hundreds of years after the events they describe and often contradict the teachings of the Bible. They are thus not considered Biblical cannon by the vast majority of Christianity.
Yeah, its tricky as usually I refer to all religious text as theology - though some is cast aside over time. Same school of thought & zero disrespect intended.
@@DarkLOREDash I draw a sharp line between Wraith Raziel and Sarafan Raziel. Hell, seems like Vampire Raziel was already immensely more noble and principled than his former self ever was. To bring up the evils of his former self right now seems very out there and too early in the story to make any sense here. And, let's be fair. Not every racist is a genocidal maniac.

You did a great job, telling the truth. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
It's been so long since your Blood Omen videos that I've forgotten. Thanks for the reminder

I think it was more about getting the algorithm to recommend your video.

These are the comments I been looking for lmao

You say racism, I say standards.

Well, I am excited to play oblivion again. Never did tackle mass effect (I know)

I agree, however officially they are classed as a race in game

Love the videos but Kain does not kill Malek, the former summoms Vorador who turns into a wolf and slays Malek.
Oh right. I forgot we were left to contend with the other 2

All fans of the series are aware of the recognisable self righteous hypocrisy of the Sarafan. Please just stop with this nonsense.
Holy shit the history lesson and religion lesson went on too long.
Is this a cancel culture hit piece? 😂Cancel Raziel!
Shouldn't throw the word racism around where it isn't applicable. Happens enough as is, it's exhausting. Unsubbed.
This is dealing with Fantasy Racism.
