- Although we hear much of Princess Zelda in Hyrule legend, in only one story in the numerous disputed timelines of Zelda lore do we hear of a sibling: an unnamed prince in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. In this cover of the Palace Theme & Grand Palace Themes, let's explore this accursed figure.
(The arrangement of Great Palace theme in the 2nd half of this video is based on a midi that was done by Ricoberto Dones, or rdones, on KHInsider. I have no idea if rdones has any stronger internet presence. I looooove the arrangement so much.)

Checks out. This was awesome, musically and story-wise! I loved that you effectively scored the story with tempo and meter changes to suit the brother's story. And the brother definitely fits well into the oft-forgotten Zelda 2 story as that archetypal glossed-over royal child trying to take what's theirs.
getting the story fitting the music is one of my favorite parts. I was trying to also have it work for the video clips, but that's a bit harder with only stock footage lmao XD

Ooooohh. That's a really neat arrangement. There's a lot a small bits to explore for the audience throughout. The pitched down saxophones really serve the impending doom ambiance up to the conclusion of the story.
Some crunchy harmonies in this one! Love the story and music integration, great job!
I didn't know the world needed a sax arrangement of the Zelda II palace music.... but this clearly proves it did.

I love how well this arrangement pairs with the story you're telling. the way there's so much tension and how it all overflows at about 1:36.
This is definitely something I try to work on for every cover story! The one challenge comes in that in some of my pieces, the musical beats come by too quickly for the text. I feel like there was a risk of doing that with the back and forth at 1:36 but that it ended up pretty well!

my impression when i was adding instruments at that part was, "are people going to get this?" but then my doubt was drowned out with, "WHY WERE THERE ELEVATORS IN ZELDA 2"

I enjoyed this arrangement and performance, especially while reading along to the story! The music follows along and adds tension as the story reaches its climax, and it opens up imagination. This is the first I've heard of a possible prince of Hyrule, and the possibilities for timelines and games really makes one think. Nice work!
Yup, the 2nd game's Zelda was actually a Zelda placed into a magical sleep long ago. Here's from the wiki:
"Zelda's brother tried to force her into telling their recently deceased father's secrets concerning the Triforce. Princess Zelda refused to reveal its location, and the prince's wizard friend, in anger, tried to strike her down with a spell. Zelda fell under a powerful sleeping spell, but the wizard was unable to control the wildly arcing magic and was killed by it. The prince, filled with remorse and unable to reverse the spell, had his sister placed in the castle tower, hoping she would one day be awakened. He decreed that princesses born to the royal family from that point on would be named Zelda, in remembrance of this tragedy"
Also of note, the Link of Zelda 2 is the same Link from Zelda 1, just older. This Zelda is a different Zelda from the one in Zelda 1 so when you think about it, there are two Zeldas in that world. :D
@@psycosulu oh wow that's mind-blowing! I never knew this lore I always thought it was the same characters from the Zelda 1, they really make the story and timelines so cool which is why Zelda is one of my favorite vg series!
yeah haha, people thought the zelda timeline issues happened later in the series, but in reality, they didn't even get to game 2 before writing in shenanigans.

I like what you added to the Zelda II lore, I'm assuming a lot of people don't know about the storyline of that game. I also really liked the 2nd half of the song when they were into the depths of the palace. Great job!
Thanks! My entire goal every time is to try to write something that does two things:
1. it works for people who know the lore, but gets them to think about things in a different way, but also
2. It's a great self-contained story for people who are utterly unfamiliar with the source game.
Still working on the balance between these haha

You are *very* creatively consistent, where do you get the inspiration for these videos from? Playing the games involved? Nostalgia bringing back memories?
a combination! Some of the videos are from games I have never played, but really liked the music/stories to anyway. I always try to do enough research before every cover story so that people hopefully can't tell which games I have played and which ones I haven't ;)
I want to try to make it so that these cover stories are engaging even for people who aren't familiar with the source material and who have no pre-existing nostalgia -- but also bring something of a twist for those who do already have familiarity with the source material.

All I get is, a 10 words writing option. I've subscribed to that forum but still I'm unable to type & submit my issue which is more than 10 words. I hope you could help. My other channel GOTHAM WORLD has been removed by youtube by wrong decision. Yesterday I received a community strike on a video that's not even available on YT anymore because YT had given me a second strike on that same vid on 12th February by sending an e-mail & when I appealed against that decision, they rejected that on same day of 12th Feb. and removed from the platform. Now yesterday on 29th March, I received another strike on that same vid & I had not uploaded that vid again. So how can YT pit a third strike on my channel & remove it. I appealed to the Google account forum which link was sent in the same mail from UA-cam but it seems, that forum run by bots because 2 time I tried but everytime they said that they are stick to their decision. How fair is this? If I had done anything wrong , I would've accepted that but how it's fair when you didn't do anything & you got the punishment for the thing , for which you have already received a punishment? Could you please help me? I beleive that unlike me, you must know someone from YT who can address my issue there. And they can check all the mails sent to me this year from YT, specially 12th February & this 29th March, you'll find it all a wrong decision made by YT. Please help me to get back my 2 years of hardwork. I'll be grateful of you. Thanks.

0:45 Interesting error. Hyrule often was governed by the divided balance of the Triforce, until Zelda inherited the full power of it during the Calamity in reference.
An unusual oversight, but poetic as always. The prince's seeming interest in power mirrors the fault of Hyrule: Power means little there. Anyone can have it. But without Wisdom or Courage, it defines evil. Likewise, this is why Link and Zelda have continously won: They have earned the true semblance of Power. Ganon and others corrupt it otherwise.
Cute how you interpreted Zelda "the First" as also scholarly and unsure of herself.
I'm assuming that there's a looooooooooooooooooooooooot of time between A Link Between Worlds (where the Triforce is reunited) and Zelda I and II (where the triforce is split apart again.) The timeline does describe the "Golden Era" vs the "Era of Decline" in basically exactly that way.
And with that amount of time, I'm also allowing that they invented elevators, because Zelda II clearlyhas elevators. When I described the Prince calling the past "medieval history," I can imagine him looking back to the events of the downfall era games similarly as we might look to the dark ages -- we just would never consider it possible to happen to us again.
(And just for additional confusion, I think "calamity" e.g., "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity" and BoTW is also far after basically all the other events. But yes, I imagined the "first" Zelda as having similar issues as the BotW one, kinda sorta.)

So if Breath of the Wild was in the Fallen Timeline, was it possible Rhoam was married into royalty?
everything I read suggested that BotW definitely takes place so longer after everything that it's not really in any of the timelines, buuuut there's a memory in BoTW where Zelda talks about how her mother says she would inherit powers from her *grandmother*. This kinda suggests that Zelda's mom was not blood of the Goddess, but Rhoam was (and that Rhoam was the son of a previous Zelda.)
...although to me, there's also some uncertainty here, because I always thought Zelda was hoping to learn more about her powers from her mother, but her mother died. So, that's weird. I'm not even going to try to figure out how the biology/genetics of it all works out through the ages.
@@subversiveasset That makes sense. Although I do wonder what happens with sisters. Especially the non-crown sister, if she were to have her own children could we have another lineage of Hylia Avatar blood? And possibly eventually end up with a Richard III situation where 80% of England's population is a descendant of him. That is meaningless if one is to ascend to a throne, but in the context of Zelda, Goddess Blood genetics will still persist in any human (Hylian, Sheikah, Gerudo) with the same generation amount Breath of the Wild's Zelda has.
haha, i would totally play a game where there are sisters and everyone is pinning all their hopes and dreams on one of them...but it turns out the neglected sister is the true zelda heiress.
