FYI - not supposed to "wash" mushrooms, just dust off with dry paper towel because they are porous and will retain water - but I appreciate your yummy recipe!!! Thank you!!!!!! 😊

Another good idea I think, would be to put a slice of tomato underneath the cheese. It would probably cook real nicely. I love cooked tomatoes! It really brings out the flavor! Yum! Great job. Portabellas make a great burger replacement... grilled like a burger and similar cooking time. But real cheese gives it a lot of fat... and you can make your own cheesy sauce from nutritional yeast, raw cashews, lemon juice, water and a starch to thicken it.

  • @TheEMC99

Love that music - it reminds me of Charlie Brown lol - seriously. So I thought that pouring water directly onto mushrooms was a no-no for fear of soakage - is it just portobellos that can take it or are people just to jumpy and can you marinade them for longer than 15-20 minutes or will they become soggy? I have never eaten a mushroom burger (I'm just starting to tolerate mushrooms as far as liking them) but I'd like to try to replace some meat dishes with mushrooms and this looks fantastic!

I tried that marinade you made for portobello mushrooms it was excellent. I substituted the bread and use the mushrooms as my bread. It tasted incredible with the homemade jalapeno burger patty. I'm not sure if you're aware but you're supposed to use a damp paper towel to wipe off the mushrooms. But great marinade. Thank you

Just tried this recipe, I personally think the balsamic vinegar simply overpowers and masks up any natural earthy taste that this amazing mushroom has to offer. Do not recommend putting so much vinegar.

dude from some experience and knowledge: don't wash mushrooms and the gills are clean they open up in 2 days, it's clean inside, damp towel or paper towel is best, just swipe em clean on outside. after a water bathing they inhibit too much water so the marinading process does not take place.
