Walnuts as a meat substitute is surprisingly PERFECT. I love tofu, mushrooms, lentils, all that. But I gotta say, ground walnuts are the closest thing to ground beef. I do eat veggie burgers sometimes and enjoy them. I’ve seen other videos making veggie burgers, but yours got me interested especially since I like walnuts and black beans, just never thought they went together. I’ll definitely try this!
I'm by no means an expert on veggie burgers. I'm still working on getting my perfect recipe together. But, I have never had luck with black beans. For me, they always result in a wet burger-shaped goo that never quite resembles meat. I've had much better luck with Garbanzo beans. And because they're drier they don't require as much of the bread crumbs to hold them together. But I totally agree about the walnuts. Bulgar wheat is a good texture for veggie burgers. I want to try some quinoa soon.
Make sure you drain the black beans first before adding, also you can dry them out a little for 5-10 minutes in the oven before crushing with a fork (how I tend to do it)/food processing it. Adding some oat flour or cooked rice/quinoa can help firm patties/burgers up, too.
Thank you for this recipe...I haven't had too much luck with veggieburgers so far...they always come out too mushy for my taste but these look a little more solid so to speak! Can't wait to try this recipe!

I also read that it helps to cook them on top and then put them in the oven for a bit. What do you think? Have a great day!
It came out as a wonderful burger. Very yummy. Probably best veggie burger I had. We kept in freezer 30 min before frying it in a very hot steel pan using hazelnut oil. For next time I consider to put 1 more egg to make it easier to fry as 1 piece. Paula, what do you think?
QUESTION? What nut is a good sub flavor wise for walnuts? I love them but have two family members allergic to them. Walnuts have that richness with a bright contrast whereas pecans are just Sweet....I am stumped.
I would like to make a mix that has beet juice or root in it for color and for a slight earthy flavor. The grey color is just not appetizing to me. Maybe carrot and beet pureed would be a good color and texture combo.

Oh wow! Thank you! I will now make my own at home, will add ALLLL the fixings, spicy cheese, spinach leaves, tom, onion, pickle, A-1 sauce, mayo, dijon must, toasted buns w/butter, and finally homemade from scratch - steak fries, w/ketchup!!!!!!!!!!! Yum! Yum! Awesome! 🍄🍟🍞
I used aminos cocos instead of worcester source, anyway result was very very satisfying.
WAYYYYYYYYY BETTTERRRRR alternative. Keep using the coco aminos over EVERY other option, GREAT JOB ! Keep going
What is aminos cocos and where would I find this?
@@juliehuston6847 farmers market, I go to sprouts maybe whole foods or trader joes
Harris teeter
I go to an asian market for coco aminos! ❤
Wow, excellent vid. Not a spare word or ingredient. Looks soooo delicious. I can't wait to make them. Totally sold - new subscriber here after this one view. Thank you!
Yeah that's a seriously good burger. Finally made a batch and they were a highlight at lunch!
That’s what I love to hear ❤️
This was a great video.
I AGREE with the "Burger" definition you go by!!! I'm a vegan, love this recipe.......thanks a bunch for sharring
I definitely appreciate this wonderful recipe and the work it took to make the Video for our benefit. Thank you so much! 😊
Yum. Thank you.
Your burgers look delicious! I can’t wait to try them and I must invest in a food processor! Thank u for this wonderful idea bc I’m trying to switch over to plant based foods bc Of my present illness! But I think I’m going to use a brioche bun they see softer n not as thick.Thx u much! Shout out from the Big Apple 🍎🙋🏽♀️😀
Nothing but great reviews! I definitely have to give it a try!!!
Thanks for the recipe. I will try it 😊
I freeze them on a cookie sheet and then bag them. They stay nice and separated in the freezer without paper.
I'm not a vegetarian either but enjoy a good veggie burger..Thanks for sharing..
What make is your griddle? Thanks.
Thanks for your recipe!!!😊
My pleasure 😊
I do eat veggie burgers sometimes and enjoy them. I’ve seen other videos making veggie burgers, but yours got me interested especially since I like walnuts and black beans, just never thought they went together. I’ll definitely try this!
I’ll try them, they look like they have good flavor, 😋well they look like burgers thanks !
Well those look real good. And I agree on hamburger 🍔. Need to be made. I got hungry watching you make those. Yumalicious yum 😋🤤😋😋😋😋🤤
Great presentation. I bet they're wonderful.
@@j.w8680 Great tips! Thanks.
@@totallyunmemorable You're welcome!😊
Love your video and keep them coming please
Thank you for this recipe...I haven't had too much luck with veggieburgers so far...they always come out too mushy for my taste but these look a little more solid so to speak! Can't wait to try this recipe!
I hope they work out well for ya!
@@HowToMakeDinner I finally got around to making your recipe for veggie burgers and it was very tasty but it was soft .....this is the problem I always have no matter what the recipe. I am beginning to think that maybe I don't cook them correctly...maybe not long enough. About how long on each side? I also read that it helps to cook them on top and then put them in the oven for a bit. What do you think? Have a great day!
It came out as a wonderful burger. Very yummy. Probably best veggie burger I had. We kept in freezer 30 min before frying it in a very hot steel pan using hazelnut oil. For next time I consider to put 1 more egg to make it easier to fry as 1 piece. Paula, what do you think?
I agree with your burger definition. 😁
Wow I love this video it's just the way your laid back down home way of cooking 🔪🙂👌🏽💋
Thank you for making my burger day great 😊👍🏽🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thank you! I get this recipe to my cook note!
I definitely agree with you
Making these tonight hopefully I do them right 😊
QUESTION? What nut is a good sub flavor wise for walnuts?
I love them but have two family members allergic to them.
Walnuts have that richness with a bright contrast whereas pecans are just Sweet....I am stumped.
Charlie - a combo of sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds works very well!
Fantastic!
Look good thanks im making hongkong
Love the laid back style of video
I would like to make a mix that has beet juice or root in it for color and for a slight earthy flavor. The grey color is just not appetizing to me. Maybe carrot and beet pureed would be a good color and texture combo.
In England we will call it lee and Perrins and we know what we mean….Wooster sauce works also. ❤
Looks so delicious, I made a squash and black bean burger years ago and loved it, not sure why I’ve not made them again…but definitely going to give these a try.
I agree with you a burger is grounded up and formed into a pattie
This is the first time that I have subscribed to a channel after watching just one video and without even checking to see what other videos the channel has.
Welcome aboard! I hope you like the other vids :)
Something happened to me after loosing my sense of taste and smell for 1 year and 4 months due to Covid, I noticed texture and gristle in hamburger and sauage - those foods are not on my eating list now. I find them gross. So seeing this vegan burger 🍔 looks so great to me. Thank you ❤ I will try it.❤
I’m going on 5 months with no smell or taste. Did your come back yet?
I also developed an aversion to meat since Covid.
These will be a regular in my house.
Superb...
Can we substitute walnuts with soya granules...
Any substitute for bread crumbs...maybe roasted chicpea flour....
Great recipe! Is anything we can use instead of the breadcrumbs to make it gluten free?
Oatmeal works really well
I am thinking adding garlic and onion powder and some soy or tamari sauce too. I need BIG flavour. Looks good!
Looks great!!!
Could quinoa be used instead of bread crumbs
Great video
Thank you and that double whopper look good!
This is my first time on your channel. I am a pescatarian. I love the way you made this “burger”. I absolutely enjoy mushrooms, anyway it’s done. I’m definitely going to try making this veggie burger… and yes, I agree with you… a piece of salmon or chicken etc. , between two pieces of bread should be call a sandwich. A burger should be ground up and shaped into a patty…Thank you very much for sharing your delicious burger recipe.🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
I never subscribed to a cooking channel but I love your recipe ideas and videos. I'm learning a lot about cooking!
That’s such a huge compliment! Thank you!
