- Hi all, today I'm making a very popular Hawaiian snack Musubi. This is a very tasty snack that you can make yourself and it's also a good snack on the go. It's so easy to make yet so delicious. I hope you give this recipe a try!!
Musubi
Ingredient:
• 5 cups of cooked short grain rice (Sushi rice or Calrose brand)
• 12 oz can of low sodium spam (cut into 8 slices)
• 4 Nori sushi sheets (cut in halves)
• 4 eggs
• 2 tbsp soy sauce
• 2 tbsp sugar
• 1 tbsp oyster sauce
Directions:
• Wash and cook rice in a rice cooker.
• Slice the spam into 8 pieces the long way.
• Crack eggs into a bowl and mix well.
• Using a large frying pan, make two large round egg sheets.
• Cut the Nori sheets in halves.
• In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sugar and oyster sauce.
• In a large skillet, brown both sides of the spam slices, once both sides are brown pour in the sauce mixture and coat both sides with the sauce. Allow the sauce to thicken a bit. Remove spam slices onto a plate/platter.
• To assemble, place nori sheet on the cutting board, place the musubi mold in the center of the nori sheet.
• Scoop a spoonful of rice into the mold, try to spread the rice evenly. Using the mold press, press the rice firmly. Add the spam slice, the egg slice and another scoop of rice on the top. Using the mold press again, press the rice down, while lifting the mold up.
• Remove the press, fold both ends of the nori to seal.
• Repeat steps until ingredients are used up.
