I really want a half slice of American cheese between the rice and the spam. 😀. And, maybe for a breakfast, a little tamogoyaki in there, too. Yum! Spam, cheese and eggs. What’s not to love?

It’s oddly really good this way. Not good for you, but delicious.

Wow musubi has just been demystified for me. Can you do a whole series on portable foods such as for a picnic or school/work lunch?

I recommend putting the furikake layer between the rice and spam to be a little less messy. For a deluxe option you can add a layer of omelette between the meat and rice.

As someone from Hawai'i, I approve. Only difference I would put the furikake between the spam and rice instead of adding it at the end. Well done!

If you have rice wine vinegar, season it with sugar and salt and use it to flavor your rice! Next level

It would no longer be spam musubi but spam sushi. Musubi and sushi are not the same thing.

@@ecebear3 The great part about food is that you can choose your own adventure. There's no rules saying you cant season your rice : )

Yummy! Yum! Yum! Can anytime else be substituted for Spam? Can brown rice be used instead of white rice?

Musubi can be made with just about any protein. I've seen tofu, chicken katsu, egg, sausage, etc. Brown rice is fine. Frankie basically made the traditional/basic recipe but it's super customizable. One of my favorite breakfasts when I was on vacation in Hawaii was a spam and egg musubi from 7eleven.
