If I were you, I would just add a huge disclaimer at the beginning of each video, saying that the look has nothing to do with real military. However, there will always be people that take everything way too seriously or get offended for no reason, no matter what you do. As a veteran from the US, I see no issue with it. You don’t claim to anything, so there’s no issue. Wearing something to conceal your face is seen in A LOT of channels on UA-cam because people want to stay private…there is nothing wrong with that. It’s also an airsoft channel…wearing the clothes that you play in during your videos shouldn’t be surprising. This is your channel, do with it as you please. There will always be someone out there that won’t like the content, no matter what is done in it. You can never please everyone.
As long as we have shitheads among Airsoft players it will be very difficult not to be mistaken for troublemakers and wannabes. Fortunately I see very few of them around and I'm glad the club I'm in has a very low tolerance for that kind of players. It is up to us responsible players to make sure that the line is drawn in a "comfortable position" so that everyone can keep playing the way they like (either just for fun or reenacting), all the while the outsiders know that we're not training to go to war for real :P As for the balaclava... I believe the choice is all yours. If we had to leave out anything that points back at military stuff, we would have to start playing with pipe guns while wearing jeans and hoodies. Sure, would be "curious" to try, but it's not exactly the same... at all. I prefer the sci-fi stuff and am currently aiming for an outfit/equipment setup that clearly represents my tastes, but I respect a lot the effort that players make in reproducing actual/realistic setups. Airsoft is also that - so why take all that away?

I'm not a subscriber to your channel (this transgression has been rectified) but I have to wonder if these people where really part of your audience or just some people looking to complain. The way I see it, there are many people who are into airsoft because they enjoy the 'soldiers for a day' aspect and everything that goes with that. In my mind, as long as you dont actually tell someone your military and don't wear awards your not owed (ie: rank slides, medals) then anyone who complains is just looking for something to complain about and someone to look down on. If you wanna wear it, wear it. Just the same as camo doesn't belong only to the military, balacalava's dont belong only to special forces. If someone complains, just tell them your face is cold lol.
LOL! :-) I swear this summer I was dying inside the thing, but in winter definitely doesn't hurt even if I shoot inside! About the complaints there's not much I can do to please anyone, I guess the balaclava is just more provocative than guns and camos having the whole secrecy vibe attached to it, maybe I'll stick to a 50-50 in my vids and wear it just for some segments.

I was in the military for 11 years. It was obvious that the balaclava was a gimmick and it was funny, your videos are more entertaining with it on-you should have never revealed your face. The people who are criticizing you never served either, so who tf cares if they were offended. If they were in the military, and whined like that, they would end up duct taped to a rafter real fast.

E' un SOD old gen in coyote e materiale FR, gli ho dato la caccia tre anni, lo trovai infine indosso ad un manichino nello stand SOD al Softair Fair di Ferrara l'anno scorso, feci il gesto disperato di chiedere se potevano toglierlo al manichino e vendermelo, fortunatamente acconsentirono :-)
Secondo me il Balaclava anche in ambito internazionale (dato che i video sono in inglese) va molto bene. Soprattutto in italia c'è gente, "i guerrierri da tastiera" che rompono solo i cogl*** e dato che sono gelosi che tu sei molto bravo, avranno sempre da dire contro su qualcosa. non starli a sentire. col balaclava vai benissimo!

I wear a balaclava because I can wear a mesh teeth protector under it. Makes getting cheekwelds infinitely easier compared to a mesh mask.
