I couldn't watch live but I needed this video for my Saturday night entertainment. I just realized I have been smiling for 50 min straight and will still be smiling at the end. Thanks for the great info. I always learn something while watching your videos. Cory your voice is so soothing as well. A great stress reliever. I loved you nerding out on the light and it's fabulous packing and box. Blinding yourself and me too. So much fun! Who needs to go out on a Saturday night? Not me.
First of all I’ll just say I love easy green and use it every few days and all of my 12 tanks. However I just wanted to give a little plug for using actual soil ( potting, aquatic, active etc) for a ( highly) planted tank. The minute I switched to using regular potting soil as the middle layer between rocks / gravel on the bottom and sand / gravel on top, my plants grew 10 times faster. It’s true that at first you have a larger ammonia Spike, but with the sand cap, that goes away pretty quickly and the soil and nutrients are sealed in. I still use root tabs here and there and easy green fertilizer for water column fertilization. If you think about it, at the end of the year time, if you’re using the equivalent to hundreds of fertilizer tabs, that probably equals half an inch of actual soil. Another great thing about using potting soil is that the mulm will eventually go down through the gravel /sand and add nutrients back into the substrate. This creates a self-sustaining system in which you never get old tank syndrome and create a more closed loop system. I highly recommend trying a .5-2” middle layer of potting soil in addition to east green and root tabs ;) will save you hundreds of dollars and so much time!
Was excited I actually had a Sunday off to watch and interact with the livestream but was exhausted and fell asleep. Still like that I can watch later and at least leave a comment. Can't wait for the new light - I'll be sure to get one for the 20 long I'm setting up. THANK YOU for saying you can't OD the tank on root tabs! I have a new 40 breeder and wasn't sure how often to add them - just added a second 60 pack to my cart. Will you offer larger quantities in the future? I went with a pool filter sand for substrate because I wanted to enjoy watching Khuli Loaches sifting through it. Thanks again for sharing your vast knowledge and experience with us Cory - and to Candi for moderating 🙂
The knowledge i get from a single love chat video is crazy and its all stuff i can use. You cant find this on any other channel thank you for this. Its made me stick with and im so glad i didn't get rid of my tank i almost gave up
It was great to meet another aquarium co-op fan this weekend and trade some fish and talk about Cory for an hour in a parking lot in Colorado! Thanks for all you videos and community you've created around the world!
Great info and really helpful. I recently found your channel and have been watching lots, though hard to " like and comment" on my echo show device in the kitchen where I spend a lot of time and my fish are also there. Just pulled up my desktop to add a comment that I appreciate your dedication to your business and the order I received from your company was excellent. You've helped me get inspired again with my 2 tanks ( keeping fish for 50 years now)
All of my plants (mostly anubias) are putting on pretty new leaves but still battling that brown and green spot algae. It is super helpful to hear all of your suggestions!
I'm not having problems with plants anymore. Once I started using your fertilizer my plants been growing like a champ. The only problem I have now is amonia.. keep getting high levels after a few days after a water change.
Love easy green but my bottle broke some time ago I just kinda drip some out it don’t pump out but I’ve had the bottle for a year atleast! Stuff inside the bottle works amazing
I just found this video AFTER I bought some plant's off your site so HOPEFULLY I'll have better luck than what I've been having by listening to your video about how plant's grow & what to do.
I'm a hr into the video & haven't heard anything about having heaters in cold water tanks for plants do the plant's need heaters like amazon swords jungle Val java ferns ext?
All my 50+ tanks are jungles... some are newer jungles than others, but all are thanks to Aquarium Co-op's Easy Green and Root tabs...! Thanks for another GREAT one...! Keep up your awesomeness...!
I really enjoy your live streams. The aquarium hobby in South Africa is really expensive and wish we could have a local company like yourself here that could make it more affordable.
So I live in MN maybe I can schedule buying a home around a time you might visit here again, then you can help move all my planted tanks. Haha I joke. Your knowledge on planted tanks has helped me immensely. Struggled for about a year when a great tank started failing. I was running T5's then and bought so many bulbs, looking for the perfect mix of spectrums. Finally got LED's, your videos helped realize it was NOT a light issue. (Well maybe a mix of things, but focused only on lights) thanks Cory for all you do
Awesome information and extremely interesting and enthralling . Do you raise Neo caridina shrimp ? Do you raise dwarf Cory Doras ?? I am a gardener and nature lover and new to the planted, dirted tank aquarium. It is exciting though I don't like to learn the hard way by shrimp or fish or plants dying. I would love a ten gallon easy plant light!! FUN !!
I hope one day you open up a warehouse in Europe. Love what you do for the aquarium community. I have over 30 years of fish keeping experience and still learning. fish hobbyist from Cyprus
Love the light, you said that night time mode grows too much algae right? This has been my theory for quit a while, I’m so glad you mentioned it. Thanks Cory it’s amazing how much we agree on.
My difficulty with plants is growing moss and stem plants at the same time - I can either grow one or the other, but can't seem to find the light/nutrients balance to maintain both at a healthy state.
Have you found that in order to balance a tank that has 0 nitrates, you need to add a lot of easy green at first to get the nitrate levels to the 20-30ppm that we aim to maintain
Not sure if it's happening across the country... But in southern California, I can't find snails for sale. An employee told me it's because too many people have returned items because of snails. So I'm curious what the stores are doing with the snails, and what those who return are using as an alternative. I'm going to rob snails from one of my other tanks. But I'm sure we could all benefit from this issue being addressed.
Funnily enough, my Glossostigma elatinoides is actually the healthiest species of plant in my aquarium. Which sounds odd considering my tank is very low tech. It's actually my myriophyllum and Crassula Helmsii that are struggling. I think that being higher in the water column is encouraging algae growth on the plants, which is suffocating the stem plants. They are coming back, I think the Glosso are finally outcompeting the algae for phosphorous and iron. EDIT: I should add that the tank was previously EXTREMELY overfed for both phosphorous and iron. I misunderstood how algae and plants compete for nutrients
Totally agree that the mark up just so you you can reduce prices for Black Friday sale tactic is bad for most customers. It's tough to retrain the shopper though. I enjoyed the karaoke anecdote.
Why not run the power cord off the back of the light for a cleaner display? The cord hanging down off the side of tank or bending it back to hide it is a bit of a bummer.
Hello! I’ve been trying to find out if using well water that has been through a water softener is ok to use in an aquarium. Usually it has some salt due to the ion exchange process. I can’t seem to find any information on this.
I have two Fluval Aquasky lights that are 10 inches above the acrylic tank. How much do I have to increase the intensity of the lights to compensate for the increased distance? The tank is 20 inches deep.
You should def give away a plant grow set up! Cause that’s what I’ve been thinking of and I want to win! Almost just so I can show you I can’t grow plants…challenge extended…
If you could get a 220 volt version of this light and have a distribution centre anywhere in Europe you would make a fortune. Looking at the specs and the price these things would fly off the shelf. You're missing a great opportunity now.
Yeah, we had considered some alternative packaging. The problem is we wanted to visit a trade show to see the packages available and the machines. Covid has prevented that for 3 years now :(
What a concept. Leaving a comment when you really have nothing to say, just to appease/feed the UA-cam Algorithm. Can't just enjoy the stream quietly. Must prove I'm engaged. Ugh. I do appreciate the Co-op. I'm going to have to think on this. I want you to get the UA-cam Gods' recognition you deserve for reaching me. I'm not too fond of having to prove you did.
I've been using Aquarium root tabs for about six months. My only problem is that my nitrates spike crazy high when I use the root tabs! I have Amazon swords. They love the root tabs. But my fish do not!
@@AquariumCoop nope. Only two root tabs in my 13 gal tank. Nitrates spike to 40-80 every single time. I just recently switched to your liquid fert but I my plants aren't doing so hot!
I have to just say Cory has the best plants of anyone. Large, many can be made into two separate plants. I woIld not buy my plants from anyone else now
It's ironic that Cory hates on plants growing in sand. I grew crypts and vallisneria for over 5 years in sand only with occasion root tabs. Grew better than when I had it in gravel

Love this episode Cory! Such good information ❤
A very informative livestream video.
Watched after the fact and great content as always. Just help me calm down after work and learn a few new things everytime :)
My favorite part of this video is when Cory said something along the lines of, "Holding a poop question for later."
Thanks for all you do man! The new light looks amazing. Can't wait to get my hands on one.
Great info,thanks Cory !!!
love your videos thank you

Best thing I can think of for you,, is to take a sample to your local fish store and have them analyze it for you,, Most good shops do this for free
I have two Fluval Aquasky lights that are 10 inches above the acrylic tank. How much do I have to increase the intensity of the lights to compensate for the increased distance? The tank is 20 inches deep.
The base rule is, every 4 inches of depth is half the light. So 10 inches is roughly 2.5x less powerful than directly over the tank.
You should def give away a plant grow set up! Cause that’s what I’ve been thinking of and I want to win! Almost just so I can show you I can’t grow plants…challenge extended…
