Saw one video about this process, and the carpenter had a specialized machine for doing this. Really ingenious thing. If I was going to make one, I would take one of those hammers, and drill through the end of the handle and put it on a pivot point, Then it would be easier to control the strikes.

Ah, the one thing I wish I can do to my old laminated wooden plane blades.
Realized that really quick when doing it to an old 70mm kanna blade I found at a garage sale to make a dai for

god forgive me but the last time i had a low corner i spend 4hrs grinding it flat on the stones and only getting carpal tunnel for my stubborness. didn't have an anvil but now i know hardwood is an option and will risk ura-dashi to save my wrists. thanks for all your tips vids as i was lost in Japanese weeds.

Fantastic series of videos, so informative, thank you! I wonder if I could ask what the final sharpening jig that you used was?

Very nice instruction and quality imagery. I am itching to get a Kanna in my hands but I don’t want to waste my time and money. I would love to know the manufacturer and model for the plane you worked in the video! I am in the United States, but I’m an Aussie at heart! It would be glorious if you could recommend a source that ships to me! Big fan of your channel; I am ready to set up my future Japanese toolbox because of you!
    Thank you,
