3G is rapidly being turned off in the UK. Soon there will be no 3G anywhere. 2G is still provided because lots of infrastructure uses it. 4G is well covered & gradually 5G is being introduced. Will the Ring alarm stop working over cellular phone network when 3G is no longer available or will it switch down or up to 2G or 4G? Vodafone has just turned 3G off in my area!
Any update on your verdict? Hard to find unsponsored reviews. Currently basic back is on for £160. Cheap way to get into the system and build it out. Would you still recommend this? Heard mixed reviews regarding the motion sensors and how the 1st gen sensors were better and more responsive…??
The is for the feedback, so I would say I’m still very happy, with the system. The only fault I have found is the motion sensors do pick up our dog, which is very small. So this has led to frustration. However I would still highly recommend the product 👍
@@fishgeek hey thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated. The fact that it detects your small dog is actually a good problem to have as it shows that the sensor is sensitive and responsive. The negative reviews I read stated that the sensor didn’t actually detection motion as good as previous version.
Hi i am looking to buy this alarm system, i am just wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions i have about the product. 1. do you have to pay the monthly fee if you want to use the alarm on your app 2. i have a cat would this set off the motion sensor 3. would i be able to move the alarm from one house to another many thanks jamie
@@fishgeek I am just wondering I am going to order the outdoor siren I am wanting to contact it to the main via the adapter. I am struggling to find a long power adopter that I could buy is there any that you could recommend
Hi i have bought the ring alarm system i have also bought the outdoor siron and the plug in adapter to power the siren, i am struggling to power my arm i am just wondering if you have any videos of how i can connect the power adapter.
Do you mean connecting power to the base station? If so that should be a straightforward connection. There is an inbuilt battery. Or do you mean powering the siren ?
@@fishgeek I am trying to wire the outdoor siren. I have bought the power adapter it has got like 2 to end of the cable with metal on I can’t tell which is red or black.
Quick question on this product . Becasue this system depends on Internet connection. What would happen in a situation where an intruder disconnected or tampered with the Internet?? How would this system function?
You don’t have to have a plan, and most features will work. How ever cellular backup does require a subscription plus en-uk.ring.com/pages/protect-plans#shopify-section-protect-plans-subscription
Are you able to set schedules for the arm/disarm modes? Say if I want to arm the system at midnight and disarm in the morning, can I do that by setting schedules in the app?
i had a ring alarm and after a year it completely stopped working it wouldnt set but when it went off you couldnt turn it off so had to take it out and replace with a traditional hardwired alarm system
I wonder if/when ring will be able to dispatch services directly to your house in the UK. I have SimpliSafe which does that.... But they don't have the outside siron box which really bugs me as I think that's one of the best. Deterrents.
It’s a problem with the police in the UK, they essentially demand they are paid to test and approve the type of system and that every installation approved for police dispatch is “professionally” installed, most forces also demand a hefty annual fee as well. Unless you’re willing to pay a lot (and risk hefty fines for false alarms) then it’s really not possible in the UK unfortunately. With the rise of smart homes they really could modernise and allow diy installs as long as an incident is confirmed by a second method (video usually) but they are very resistant to the idea. Hopefully one day!
Very good overall and helped me get an overview of what I've actually bought but still sitting in the boxes. I guess the 3G connection is built in to the actual alarm base unit? Plus I also presume you removed the dry cells in the outdoor alarm box as they have no purpose once you installed the Li-Ion battery.
Very helpful, but not really a review, more an unpacking and setting up video.

Can’t compare to the old version but as I’ve tested the system I can see it’s picking up movement as I come into the room in the places I have them.

No needs to disable 5g bud

1. No the alarm works fine stand-alone however some advance features require it.
2. My dogs do not set it off
3. Yes that’s fine 👍👍

It has a SIM card so will still be able to let you know. Your phone also poles the device so let’s you know when the device has lost its connection

It’s a new feature currently being rolled out to users
@@fishgeek Does that mean some users have this feature or all (including new users) can use this feature?
All users will get it, but ring won’t say when. I got enabled about 3 months ago. I suspect most have it now, but I can’t confirm

Hey, is there any limitation in the use of the alarm if you do not subscribe?
Subscription is more about the camera linking up rather than the alarm
