You didn’t mention that the Japanese have a mindset that focuses on excellence, quality and durability, out of respect for the customer, and nature. Unlike Americans, who promote a throw away culture.

The plastic parts that BMW uses has nothing to do with their unreliability; it is more the electrical components that fail because of low quality although they are paying lots for them, and obviously the QC Tests are not rigorous enough. If you look at how times their components failed in the Supra development you'll understand how poor BMW standards are. This is not exclusive to BMW, it seems to be a German thing as M Benz and Audi have similar issues. However, you cannot fault the German Manufacturers on visuals, they make rather beautiful vehicles, something Toyota would do well in following. Plus the Germans have the right combination of Turbo and 4WD which makes the vehicles fun to drive. Toyota does that too, but only for their domestic market and gives the rest of the World the "Bread and Butter " products which tend to border on boring.

Apex Animal bmw vehicles are definitely for people that are enthusiasts, I wrench my own bmw and I wrench my Lexus as well, and this is why am speaking the truth that bmw could be better, because they have a better engine, but the plastic is used to keep us spending, which is why I’ve been seeking out better quality aftermarket parts, anyone that comes up with the idea of selling better materials for bmw parts will be super rich, am talking about better thermostat, better hoses cables, and a metal water pump, parts that would Give them longer intervals between service, these vehicles are not holding up well in wintry climate.

Apex Animal 😲wow man this is exactly the nightmare that happens when they get up in age, the whole damn vehicle starts falling apart, leaving the best running engine, and this is why it’s best not to go back ordering dealership parts because they are poor quality, seek out the better aftermarket parts, there’s a wide variety to choose from, this exactly why Lexus comes out on top with better value, because after 10 years these vehicles remain solid, they are Teflon through wintry climate, bmw the only thing good is the engine.

YungGBone124127134 that’s the problem! Bmw has some of the best looking vehicles👌 they are very well designed eye candy’s but it’s whole structural development is designed to reap your pocketbook, if Lexus had bmw designers, everybody would be driving a Lexus, I personally don’t like the lexus design, the front grill is just🤮 too ugly to live with, their suv lineup is pure ugliness, bmw and Range Rover has far better looking vehicles, but they suck with reliability.

@@mcgyverb1664 no doubt there will always be those who would spend a huge amount of money to satisfy their whims just because they have the money to do so. This video is all about why BMW is not qualified to be known by reliability. It's all about Lexus. I too had own BMW long before even Toyota was considered a reliable brand. History wise the Germans have been making cars much longer than Toyota has. How is it not possible for the Germans to create a brand known for reliability? It's the culture of self-discipline, perseverence and honour driven in each and every individual.

One of the things I've noticed is that Toyota/Lexus is usually late to the game when it comes to technological advances, such as wireless charging for phones, safety features etc. But it's because Toyota/Lexus monitor just how these effect consumers and what potential issues they may cause. After seeing them in action, a year or two later they incorporate them in their products after having smoothed out the kinks they notice that come with them.

They didn't used to be late to the game. They had touch screens in the 2000's. The is350 when it first came out had almost as much power as the outgoing m3. The isf that followed shortly after had similar power to the new v8 m3. Toyota popularized hybrids(insight was first, prius was the sales leader). They used to make more power and get better gas mileage, and be faster to 60. Then something happened in 2010 or so, and they just stopped pushing the envelope. Now they are late to everything. Heck even if you pay for the luxury trim in the rx450h, you don't get massage seats. They just got android audo/carplay. At least they are still better put together than the american cars, and don't start throwing fits like the german ones.

General global industry approach -Good manufacturing: build parts to within a very small margin of original design specs, with slight deviation between parts - this is why the same manufacturers part may not fit quite the same. Also explains why within the same model car some are great while some are lemons.
Lexus/Toyota approach (and other reputable made in Japan manufacturers)
Great manufacturing: also builds parts to within a very small margin of original design specs, BUT in addition keeps a near identical consistency between parts - meaning two things.
      1. All assembled engines are within spec and almost identical in consistency, so lemons within a model line are rare.
      2. When you replace a part it fits exactly and interacts with the rest of the original components in the same consistency as the original part.

@Maheshan Govender My point is that it wasn't all that long ago that the only difference between a Lexus in the US and the "Lexus" in Japan was that the one in Japan had a Toyota emblem. Audi and VW used to share more parts over a decade ago then they do now but ya it's a similar comparison.

@@johnclark7406 That extra sound deadening material and different cabin materials makes all of the difference to me since my main issue with Toyotas and Hondas is the cabin noise (actually doesn't bother me much, but my wife can't stand loud cars/is more sensitive to it). Keeping the reliability and reducing the noise is a great combination!
Also nice that lots of luxury car owners get rid of theirs at around 100k miles and, more or less, take care of them, usually at the dealer. I think that used Lexus are usually a great bargain for these reasons.

Down here if you don't see that many old town cars that are Toyota anymore then you really don't see any other brand either. Especially euro cars because they just don't last either. My first Lexus was a bulletproof LS430 that got totaled a year ago. I then bought a BMW X5 and that was the worst decision ever. Fun to drive but repair after repair and now electrical gremlins are appearing. I will be going back to Lexus very very soon. Great video

That full load testing of every engine on the Dyno is critical, it assures perfect break in that prevents issues later like oil consumption.

It is a lot more than that. Their whole culture is obsessed with quality control, even to the point of immigration.

Just bought a newer Lexus, certified pre owned, I am pretty glad I didn't pay the extra for extended warranty, for one, I can work on luxury cars (German, but working on cars is all the same) and secondly, I know how reliable they can be to most. I have a second daily I will probably replace with an older project car Lexus, maybe a GS F or RC F 😍

I actually did pay for an extended warranty for some knucklehead reason. My previous car (2011 ES 350) only went to the shop for regular maintenance the 5 years I owned it.

    Lexus LS400 1991 V8 4L 260hp same year BMW 1991 7 series V8 3L 215hp
    Lexus GS300 2006 3L V6 260hp same year BMW 2006 330 3L I6 235hp
    Lexus GS350 2006 3.5L V6 314hp same year BMW 2006 330i 3L I6 255hp (BMW has the turbo version but I am comparing with same aspiration)
    Lexus ISF 2007 V8 5L 471hp same year BMW 2007 5L V10 507hp or BMW 2007 4L V8 414hp (Toyota/Lexus owns Yamaha)
Then Lexus/Toyota has 1JZ, 1.5JZ, 2JZ, 2ZZ, etc. if one needs power and reliability. Those engines were ahead of their time and still competing today 25+ years later.
    etc.
The idea that Lexus is underpowered hp/liter is simply not true, In Japan from my understanding Lexus has even more potent engines. I am not going to say Lexus sets standards at hp/liter but I can't call Lexus engines underpowered.
BMW M5 V10 can be brought from AutoTrader for as low as 7-8k (check for yourself), from my understanding that engine expires before 100k miles. I am going to predict Lexus V10 is not going that route.

The main problem with other luxury car manufacturers is, they were rushing new developments and products out of their doors so hard that sometimes beta products are given to customer to help them complete the testings ....

I've worked for Toyota Manufacturing for many years . Quality is first ....always ....every day all day . Bought my first Toyota in 2000 . Still have it today as a daily driver today . ALL the buttons and features still work . And 26mpg plus at almost 300k miles . We have added 2 more Toyotas to our garage . Now looking to add a Lexus or two . When Toyota has a issue it is usually handled with a simple recall that other manufacturers could not afford to do because for every 1 issues Toyota has most other manufacturers have 5 or more issues . Love the company and the worry free vehicles .
