- Metal / rock fans' first time reaction to Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll's "Whiskey Bent" while checking out some Garrison Brothers Guadalupe
"If my P.O. asks, I hang drywall" - Jelly Roll
And the song fit the Bourbon, since Cody Johnson is from Texas. Everything is bigger and better in Texas including our bourbon 😂😂
I think there are more singers and bands from Texas than we have states & it's all to my liking.
To be sure, the greatest singer that ever lived was born in Texas. Out of curiosity could you answer me this one question, is it still like Ol' Waylon sang, about being down there in Texas, is it still true, that Bob Wills is still the King?
@@WaymoresBlues Going by your handle I'd say you know Waylon was from Texas too and The Rolling Stones covered that song about Bob Wills. I'd credit that Keith with being the country connection in the Stones. Why else would Keith Richards record Your Cheating Heart and You win again? I'd request "Faraway Eyes" and "Honky tonk Women" & "County Honk" as a bribe but that may be a stretch. Don't think that keeps our Keith & Dustin team from coming up with that knowledge, they are pretty sharp on many things' bourbon & music!
I'd like to add "Honky Tonk Blues" the official promo, if it passes muster & "Sway" live by the Rolling Stones to your vote list for a reaction! They sound country.
I would love to see y’all “see & hear”:
Cody Johnson & Reba - Dear Rodeo
I sent in his song "dirt cheap "
Added dear rodeo to the list -Dustin
Had not heard this before. Really liked it. Another good one is Craig Morgan and Jellyroll- Almost Home. It’s an old one by Craig but they teamed up on the Grand Ole Opry then in the studio.
Vote added -Dustin
Great song that I had not heard before. You can't go wrong with Cody or Jelly Roll.
Very Interesting song. The lyrics did a great job telling a story without having to spell out every detail. It grabbed my attention because it gave just enough detail that I could instinctively fill in the rest of the story.
It required that. - Keith
listen to cody johnson dirt cheap
I love this song! Tells a story without telling it completely. And the transitions between them in this song are so good. Thank you for picking this song, baby.
And a great reaction from you guys.
Thanks. It was a neat song, and an exercise in holding back for the sake of the art. - Keith
Y'all actin like Cody can't sing his ass off when it calls for it. Just wasn't the type of song this was.
Respectfully disagree
They aren’t acting they are reacting, they are honest, if you want them to react to Cody blowing the house down then request a song or bribe a song. But as always thanks for watching
Got to request "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound" by Hank Jr, very different sort of song but could almost have been the before to this after.
That'd have to be a bribe. I think both of us have heard that song, and we avoid things we've already heard. - Keith
How do you talk about recovery with out repeating the story or the rest of the story
Two of my favorite country voices. Loved this.
You guys need to go back to some good old country like from Mark Chessnut and Gene Watson.
Mark Chestnut is fun stuff.
For some reason I expected a duet version of "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound" now I'm having flashbacks to the last time Jack Daniels let me go too far...I don't remember much from that night but I remember the message from my best friend the next day saying how much I scared her. I gave up whiskey that moment. That was in October and I'm proud for not looking back so far
I have a song suggestion for you guys [JENNIFER NETTLES UNLOVE YOU) !!!
Haha sitting back in a recliner and and being served by Keith giving you a free drink sounds like a good time
Request: Who’s That Man by Toby Keith
Got that vote! -Dustin
I just sent a bribe for Cody Johnson but a different song. you should have received them yesterday
Thanks Melody!
Hey Melody, how many bottles did you happen to send and who did you order from if you don’t mind? We received a couple of packages with no names or shipping labels. -Dustin
@BourbonCountryReacts I sent 7 bottles and they came from the Booze Outlet
@@Melody-bourbonite4life got it! Can you shoot us a message at the channel name with no spaces at Gmail with the songs you like to hear? -Dustin
@BourbonCountryReacts yes, I can no problem
Great reaction even with it being repetitive. I'd love to see you guys react to Trace Adkins Rough & Ready. Hilarious song with some great picking.
Will y'all check out Christian Rap by Nick Nittoli
I really enjoy Cody and I love this particular duet. And from what I can tell at Garrison Brothers makes no mistakes. I was just talking with my nephew about it Sunday night.
They do not
We haven't had a bad one yet. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts yeah I knew you guys would love the Cowboy Cut one, I actually have been looking for it in a way to you guys since that first bottle of Garrison Brothers that I sent over a year ago. It’s just so rare and so damn good it is very very hard to get unless you do it in person
Can i add a song to thr votes?
The river just knows - Rodney Atkins
I thought they both held back in their vocals because it fit the song.If they both belted like they can it would have changed the whole song.
Entirely possible. - Keith
He definitely can belt when he wants.I think it would have changed the song if either one belted Luke they can.
A few songs this reminded me of: "That's Why I'm Here" by Kenny Chesney - also about recovery.
"Alcohol" by Brad Paisley
"Whiskey, If You Were A Woman" by Highway 101
"Jose Cuervo" by Shelly West

I’ve added the others to the list -Dustin
My emotions are all over the place 🥺 My Mom and bonus dad got divorced cuz of his drinking and jealousy (not founded jealousy btw) he put in the work to get sober to get my mom back, they got remarried in 1984 🥹she passed in 2010 he started drinking again, with control, got remarried to a wonderful woman who loved him and respected my mom so much, he passed away at the end of last year. I had the best example of love and life from those two, miss them both terribly. This song hit me thinking maybe that’s how my Dad felt when he got sober. Y’all are the best, thank you
I'm betting a lot of people felt/feel that way. - Keith
Glad you enjoyed the song and the bourbon
Great pairing Steven.A Texas bourbon and a Texas country artist.Have you hear Cody's song Honky Tonk Hardwood Floors. That song would be a great pairing with another Texas bourbon.
@@bryanhutton206yes I have and your correct
I think they would definitely like that song
I’ve added it to our list -Dustin
Awsome. It's a bad ass Texas honky Tonk song.
Cody Johnson was also holding back. This is not a song that you can really blast on as you say. Try listening to some other Cody Johnson stuff. He gets up there. Got one of the best vocal ranges in country at the moment
We've checked out "'Till you Can't." We liked it. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts I saw that one. Love watching you guys.
I enjoyed the song it has a nice tone to it. I like Jelly Rolls songs and his voice, not as familiar with Cody Johnson work. As always entertaining reaction to Music and bourbon!
Cojo is effing amazing!
Not the door 🚪 again, Keith! Come on!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm just leaving it open out of defiance now. - Keith
I sent you a bottle of Garrison Bros SB 4 months ago Dustin. The song was chosen by Keith and was Kristofferson's "Loving Her was Easier"! It was also released as a 45 rpm, the B side was a song called Epitaph (Black & Blue). I sent that bottle because of the 'Star' and the fact it came from Texas, just like Kris Kristofferson & Janis Joplin! The US Army also uses that Star. You know Janis died in 1970 and the album The Silver-Tongued Devil & I was written in 1971. Is it a stretch to think Kris wrote them thinking about Janis? He did spend a lot of time with her. Listen to "Loving Her" and then "Epitaph" in that order and take note of the emotion you hear in Kris's voice. That stuff is all on the TSTD album.
On the Sad song vibe you mentioned in Kris's song's you asked for some that weren't Sad. Here's a couple, "Here comes that rainbow again" & "Thank you for a life", there is a video of them and also him and his band live. There are many more, I hope you enjoy the info you asked for Keith Dustin.
Yeah I was thinking there was on other person that Sent them a Garrison Brothers
@@stevebournite184 Yeah, Steve I love that Star but have never tasted it. I drank for the wrong reasons 50 years ago and now it's doctor's orders. Lived & learned the wrong ways sometimes. Keep these guys going, I need the entertainment and you & others seem too as well! Peace & God Bless America....
We appreciate you both! Thanks for enjoying this channel with us fellas! -Dustin
@@BourbonCountryReacts all good brother you know I love introducing you to good country songs as equally introducing you to mind blowing bourbons.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Goes both ways Dustin, many of your fans are a hoot & entertaining too.
Keith ain't shut the door in a while. I've reminded him before.
At this point, it stays open out of defiance. - Keith
