I love you Kim as we all do. We will never forget Mel and need you cos you are so inspirational. You are amazing with your respectful classy answers. You are amazing!!!!
0:54 although the boy was just asking a question if you look closely you can just see the tears in her eyes and if you listen closely you can hear the sadness in her speech. I think this was an emotional interview for her I know she would've been asked a question like that eventually but if I was in the audience I would've walked over to her and hugged her I wouldn't have cared if I would've been escorted out
its so sad.She said that her mum had inspired her her and she was clearly still fragile on live tv. But she is a person like the rest of us who have lost a close family member. Kim was in the limelight at the time and she showed a lot of us how to MAN UP and be strong for our families. Sometimes we need to just man up and push on like Kim did
I've always been a fan of Mel and Kim. since when I started listening to them on a fm radio where I live. that in the 80s. I miss Mel. They were an excellent combination. But what can we do. may God rest his soul and bless Kim. great 80s hit duo.
So sad! I loved the two girls together - the clothes, the dancing and the singing. I haven't seen Kim by herself, but thanks to UA-cam I will do that. It's so sad that Mel is gone.
I've NEVER ever met in my life a worse 'pop-showbiz' story as I did with Mel & Kim. I wasn't properly a fan, and at the very start I thought the two sisters were 'just another product of the '80s' which I had got pretty bored about (the decade, I mean), I used to listen to '70s stuff as I still do nowadays, so... I thought the duo would go on producing 'crap' (I'll be honest) on and on, then would probably have a natural decay much further on as any other popstar on earth, and they would probably end up being remembered for their '80s heyday and on and on... lots of others had that story to tell, some made it also through the '90s and further, but anyway... that's what I thought. Then came the news. 1988, Mel had cancer. Nowadays other popstars have faced such happenings of life and no-one probably remembers about it: Anastacia, Kylie, lots of people... back then it was really like a shock, we weren't accustomed to it, we wouldn't easily think 'oh, come on, she's surely gonna make it'... Mel gave interviews, she was permanently laughing, the media stuck on them as long as they could to give us a positive impression, then blank page. I had noticed their absence from the media all through 1989, when such things happen you tend to think something's not really working... it was happening with Freddie Mercury as well, you might remember... my bad feelings then faded away as time flew by, I was studying, starting to think about my future, the '90s were peeping in and... I had almost forgotten of Mel & Kim, but there it was: Mel had died. It was a shock for me, and I wasn't even a fan... I couldn't believe life had been so rude to a young girl who had been picked up out of the lot by the luxury of show-biz and had just had little time to enjoy it. No other story had gone that way until then, no other story would have gone that way either from then on, if you don't consider the 'damned heroes' whose tough times were even predictable (Kurt Cobain and sorts)... Mel wasn't any 'damned hero', she was just a girl. An unlucky girl. I'm still touched by her story and also by the way it has faded away through the mists of time... they'd make a movie out of that nowadays, to say the least. Not for her, sadly.
Going Live was always great T.V even for adults. Seems a distant age now. You'd NEVER get this type of chat on kids tv now. It's either way too dumb, trying way too hard to be cool or just plain patronizing.
Yes I felt terrible for Kim. Absolutely disgusting of Sarah Green to ask her about not living in the past and is going to live in the future. Kim handled it with such grace
I scrolled down through the comments section, surprised nobody was saying this. Yes, as inoffensive and likeable as Sarah Green is/was (and I understand the dumbed down tone in which she asked the question, as the audience panel was made up of children) she is utterly tone-deaf and condescending here. In fairness, she probably didn’t write the questions herself (at this point in BBC’s history, the questions may have been written by a stuffy, emotionally constipated older producer who had no connection or interest with the subject being interviewed) and maybe felt embarrassed asking it, not having the confidence in her young career to stand-up to the producer who handed her the questions. But yes, I did cringe and it did make me very angry for Kim. Sarah came off as having behaved disgustingly, but just to play devil’s advocate, maybe it wasn’t her fault. Kim didn’t even show a hint of passive aggression or even defensiveness as she answered… she is a stronger person than me 🤬
I imagine there could have been some record company pressure. Mel & Kim had signed with EMI in 1989, and obviously no product was released before Mel's death. They probably wanted something soon from Kim.
Well done Kim. Very brave to do this interview just 9 months after her sisters death. RIP Mel..x
I saw Kim performing at Henley rewind 2019 and she mentioned her sister Melanie quite a few times which was very very emotional god bless
This was amazing TV as a child. Intelligent conversation and not shying away from death. Nothing so brave these days for kids.
i know I'm kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new tv shows online ?

you're absolutely right. when my dads mother passed away I felt that being strong for him was the right thing to do. even though I found it hard

29 years 17 days as of 4 Feb 2019. You really just don’t know what’s around the corner so live your life with no regrets...
So strong hearted and kind to carry on the magic

Gianmaria Framarin Tammi Terrell’s story is quite tragic as well. It always makes me sad.
I know dam!
Such an incredible soul ❤
Thanks for posting this video. Neve saw it before. Kim is SUPER!!!
She is!
she is stunning in this video
She's an ANGEL❤

This must’ve been a difficult interview. Just imagine thinking about your future after your baby sister dies. 😔
Kim would have turned 51 on August 28th 2012, going by memory.
U mean Mel !
kim fantastic woman
♥️
nooooo, don't end there... that bit of paper from trevor and simon... what did it say???? WHAT DID IT SAY!!!! ;) ;) xx
I think that the interviewers at the time had no tact
Nice interview but is there building work going on in the studio.....the background noise .........grrrrff
It was 100% live TV and often they had several set changes for different items on the show.
That little kid is now my catering manager on 19k a year
so life as worked out well for him..
Boss told me about this video...
Looking back, the public bought the record out of sympathy even if song wasn’t too bad.
She is in her 50s now, she should be 56?
wonder how the non empathetic miss greene would feel if she was asked live on TV "so hubby died, moving forward are we?"

I think she came out far too soon ,without taking the time to grief properly

She is nothing with out Mel
That boy what asked the first question probably grew up to be a serial killer 🤔
That doesn’t even make sense, hearing his innocent question. You really are reaching - please don’t give up your day job.
