I agree. I started to watch league content, not league gameplay, that's why I mainly followed people like skooch and MagikarpUsedFly. And now that I know them, I much prefer any video they apply themselves than the dry and straight forward let's play.
I just wish more lol players would appreciate the content than the game so the creators don't suffer for it.

Here's my take on Ring Fit Adventure!
If you felt like the game was too hard, you probably had the difficulty too high! You can manually turn down the difficulty in the settings to make sure you're not overexterting yourself.
I also agree that Ring Fit is much more workout-focused, but the way I see it is that instead of just doing reps in silence, the game kind of distracts you from thinking about the fact that you're working out while you're doing it. If that makes sense. And it keeps track of your workout for you so you dont have to think about it while you do it. Hope that helps!

I also thing the other games are mainly cardio, which yes burn more calories but ring fit focuses on strength and muscle building, which help increase metabolism over time. So using both intermittently might be the best thing to do!

I personally love ringfit, but it's definitely not a game to be underestimated. There is no shame in starting at a lower difficulty. There is no shortage of videos on youtube featuring people who crank the difficulty and barely beat the first level. Pace yourselves, my friends, and have fun with the RPG where you'd better even lift, bro.

There's this VR mmo I've always wanted to try called A Township Tale where you physically have to do everything you want to do in the game. Want to gather wood? Go swing your arms to chop down a tree then swing them some more to chop up the wood into pieces you can carry. As someone who's been 200+ lbs for as long as I can remember, it's a very difficult game to play.

The real difference between Ring Fit and most VR is that RFA has a lot more resistance exercise, where most VR games don't unless it's forcing you to squat. The controllers weigh nothing on purpose, most of your movement is within a comparatively limited scope, and it's a lot of pretty standard movement. VR might not be bad for weight loss in the long run but RFA might actually build some muscle.

Advice for people interested in Ring Fit Adventure, if you feel like things are way too difficult, manually lower the difficulty a fair amount, the game often lowers it in increments of 1 or 2 points but if it feels difficult I would recommend to lower it by 5 whole points.
Ring Fit in my experience, sets difficulty so that you can have an intensive half hour training that will kick your ass or 20 minutes of training that will leave you a bit winded. But if you go for a longer session then using a lower difficulty setting is a better choice.

    • @KairuSan1
      @KairuSan1 Рік тому

The training level mainly will increase the amount of reps you need to perform for each attack. This can change absolutely nothing on some work out moves, and an absolute nightmare on moves such as doing 40 squats. If anything, it will probably just make your workout longer. If you untimatly feel like you are making little to no progress, dont feel guilty lowering the level because for some people it may be better to simply do shorter reps on your moves to experience more progression rather than "increasing your work out load"

    • @imatiu
      @imatiu Рік тому

I will say that I am someone who is absolutely addicted to music. I am listening to music all times of the day. I say this as someone who's come to this from the angle of being more invested in the music. I played what I enjoyed for hours on end in Beat Saber to the point of sometimes 6 hour sessions after a full shift at work. I never played for the active nature but the ability to embody the music. Despite only doing it for my love of music I felt the strength and endurance from daily consistent play. While it can be a good method of workout, it can be insanely strenuous. I suggest it only to those who love music as that love, much like my own, is what can push you through pain and fatigue. That is , of course, if you wish to use it as a method of being healthy. For any form of a healthy routine it is arguably more important to be invested through a deeper seated want than just a necessity. Much like you said, seeing a meta can push you to do something even if you don't find it enjoyable. Finding a method that is enjoyable can be more effective as it will keep up the heathy habit over a short term efficient method.
Best wishes and hope you can continue to enjoy what ever you decide to purse my friend.

I just got VR, and I'm in love with Beat Saber (I'm a huge music listener like yourself). The Weeknd tracks make you squat, lean, and do lots of arm rotations. I'll absolutely be adding a 20-30 minute session as a gym warmup!

For me working out has always been hell, even going outside when I don't have a specific task to accomplish feels impossible to me, and it resulted in me almost becoming overweight in the recent times, and I'm not afraid of being slightly overweight really, but this made me worried that if I don't think of how to make losing weight not absolute nightmare it will just keep getting worse, and I really had no idea what to do. And this really made me feel like I might be able to take my weight back under my own control (that is... as soon as I find a job and make enough money for fitness games and a VR set lol, but it made me feel motivated to keep on looking as well! Honestly? Ring fit and VR is probably the most effective combination of games to get fit, aside from maybe something like VR fitness classes or something.
Since loads of VR games are good for getting cardio in (I've legitimately seen professional fighters get a decent workout playing Thrill of The Fight), and ring fit is a mix of cardio, and bodyweight strength exercises, and even stretching and warm ups.
And that's more than what you'd get even if you just typed into UA-cam "Beginner exercises", plus you're basically able to do it 24/7, because it's fun and they're games.
It's the perfect alternative for every kid who never had someone to play tag with them outside, but now has a VR headset as an adult.

Oh and I've got the secret sauce for burning calories playing video games. Get this...
Find a game you really, really love... play it for 24 hours straight, no breaks. Your eyes will cry, your fingers will die- but you'll burn something about 1,350 calories? (Depends on your personal BMR.)
You can go on baby difficulty and drink flavored water.
If you do this for 3 days straight you'll actually begin to drop weight extremely fast, because your body will finally shut the fk up and eat the fat cells it's always like "Oh I'll store it for emergency energy"
........ Just becareful afterwards. No sense dropping weight, then because you're so hungry... you eat enough to put it back on. Big mistake people make and it leads to the whole "If you lose weight this way, you'll just get it back after" .... because fkin duh, before this you'd eat a burger, now you're eating 3 because being full feels so good.

got fit playing beat saber. need to do more of it. top 3 game of all time IMO!
I used my school Vive when beat saber came out(holy molly the controllers were heavy in hind sight) clocked about 50 hours on the school headset only playing about 25-30 mins a day. then I got a Rift S! this was the turning point in my skill and achievements. having more time to play VR on MY OWN TIME was amazing. I probably clocked 7+ hours a week that year on the school computer and my own. got more into rock climbing and weened off and eventually only played like once or twice a week. but at this point I was playing all expert+ songs and 7-8 Star songs(difficulty rating that is used by modded maps) this was truly the most fun I've ever had in gaming, and once my friends started playing it we started lan partying mainly for beat saber. being able to compete with my friends and watch each other grow was one of the best things about it. it was around 2-3 years after I started that I got my Valve Index!!! so much better in every way(aside from the heavy controllers) this made me fall even more in love with VR and beat saber. one thing led to another and I now own a rift cv1 JUST for beat saber. and I use the index for everything else. I now stay in the top %8 of comp players in beat saber just playing songs that are fun and challenging. vr is amazing and I'd say its played a major part of me keeping a healthy body and physique.
keep having fun and improving. if you give yourself the time you will get healthier just by having fun. you'l break the 170s I know it BUILD THE GAMER BOD!!!

I love Beat Saber. I remember not liking it when I first got it and I played it once for maybe an hour and didn't touch it for months. Then I figured I'd get the 20 hours in to get my moneys worth out of it, and once I actually noticed my progress I started having fun and ever since then I've been addicted. Then I figured out what ranked maps were and now I'm very good at the game, fairly high in the leaderboards and still having a lot of fun

I did not expect this kind of motivational speech near the end, but i really appreciate it. This video was delightful and i was hooked from start to finish, where usually i watch most videos in "portions" spread out across several days. And when you did the final comparison you say that the difference wasn't that much but i disagree; i think there was a very noticeable difference between your "start picture" and your "end picture", i am honestly surprised by exactly how big of a change you made over only 30 days. Seeing the comparison especially makes me feel much more motivated about exercizing, myself. Thanks, Skooch! Thanks, Andrew!

It's not a game at all but rather a fitness app with an interactive interface to "ease" your time like watching a movie while in the gym but you surely still just do a normal workout with the illusion of a game behind it.

I gotta say, what you took from Vincent's comment was truly a good thing to remember. You don't have to 100% things all the time; just doing a little bit of something every day that you want to accomplish is better than trying to do it all at once or not at all. Also, as far as fitness games, I was a Xbox Kinect enjoyer, so Kinect Adventures was an absolute banger game with cool graphics, fun rewards, and some serious sweaty games if you went all out.

Imagine a ring fit style game but it's an RPG where every time you attack, you have to do an exercise that is similar to the attack, like a jumping slash would be like one jumping squat. Honestly, just a bit less focus on the intensity and more focus on feeling like you're actually doing the things a character like Link would do.

I love lifting weights, but hate running. I just got a VR headset, and Beat saber is a great cardio workout. The Weeknd tracks have you doing a ton of squats, leans, and overhead rotations. I think I'll be using it as a warm-up before hitting the gym to lift.
Ring fit is no joke, it legitimately leaves me drenched.

Dude, I did the same thing over lockdown. When I started, I could barely get through 15 minutes without feeling like I was going to pass tf out. Within about 2 months, I was going 2 and 3 hours, just trying to beat my high scores on my 30-minute long playlists (I used a BeatSaber mod that allowed me to make chonky-boy workouts).
In about 6-7 months, when also watching what I ate and doing intermittent fasting, I'd lost a total of about 60lbs. Freaking BeatSaber is HELLA underrated for how good it is to use as a workout. I also started trying to learn dances from back in the 90s/early 2000s (my main workout playlist was made up of Britney bangers). I then got COVID... then long COVID... which caused all that work to get coughed right out the window. I gained about 40lbs of that 60lbs. back because I could barely make it up off the toilet without feeling like my lungs were being squished, so
full-on workouts were damned-near impossible for a while (I was thankful that the vaccine helped it to not be worse). T-T
The process begins again, but, this time, I'm also going into an actual gym, as well, and getting a FitBit, with a goal of dropping to the healthy weight I was aiming for originally and KEEPING it off. Defo incorporating BeatSaber back in, though. I loved it.
Again, I tell y'all, you're REALLY sleeping on BeatSaber (and other games like PowerBeats and SuperHot; heck, even some homebrew games made in VRChat) for fitness. You just forget you're working out- you just want that high score and to beat your last calorie burn goal. The next thing you know, there's a puddle of sweat below you and you're squatting like champ through massive song sets when a single squat used to make you feel like a fight to the death with gravity. Highly recommend.
