Yeah the whole nickelback hate thing is a perfect example of people simply buying into and being swayed by others opinion for literally no reason: proof that if you say something enough times people will believe it as truth. Just kinda weirdly caught steam and got blew outta proportion. Not a huge fan by any means and pretty much never search out a track on my own, BUT easily one of the better live performances I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot of greats
the vocal minority of brain dead idiots will convince you that is the case, but trust me, I've DJ'd parties and not once has anybody every told me to turn off a nickelback song
Just some Canadian boys that got HUGE before they knew it. They are grateful for their success….. I think they forgive their haters they are all wholesome family men.
Took my friend, a Nickelback hard core hater, to a Nickelback concert. She bitched and had a fit, but we did the meet and greet and were front row. Leaving the arena she said, “Best f***ing concert I’ve been to!” We go to dozens of concerts a year.
Also forgot country artist John Rich from the group Big & Rich (their song Save a Horse is awesome by the way), Taryn Manning (Cherry from Sons of Anarchy 1st and 3rd Season), the guy from ZZ Top is actually Billy Gibbons. There are other actresses, actors, in amongst the people as well as some infamous people too.
Creed and Nickleback were on the radio every time you turned it on. Yes, they were HIGHLY overplayed. That being said, I love both bands! After Creed broke up, the remaining members hired a new lead singer, Myles Kennedy, and they formed Alter Bridge. I would highly recommend you check them out. Blackbird or Words Darker Than Their Wings (live versions for both) would be a great place to start. Keep on rocking! ❤️🤘🏼🤘🏼
I disagree. Not on your take both bands are/were good but a live version of a song is never a good place to start. Listen to the studio version at least a couple of times to get it first, otherwise you can't really appreciate anything that happens during a live performance.
I loved Nickelback when they first came out, and I still do. I never allowed others opinions to dictate my love for a vast variety of music, from Beethoven to Metallica, from Joe Satriani to Reba. I'd like to see you guys react to Joe Satriani's Always with Me Always with You, the official video. The live version is great, too, but I personally think for this particular piece, the official video without the noise of the crowd is better for the first time hearing. I'm enjoying your reactions.
I remember when this song was EVERYWHERE back in the day The first 2 NB albums were actually pretty heavy and filled with bangers then they became pop stars and became safe lol Credit where it's due though I've seen some live vids of them and the rock pretty damned hard ✌️🤘🙂
I went to a concert once where they were the headliner. I actually went to the concert because Seether was one of the openers, but Nickleback put on a really good show. They're excellent live.
That video was full of celebrities from Kid Rock to Ted Nugent to Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and actual Playboy Bunnies that lived at the Playboy Mansion.
Nickelback hit superstardom at the same time millennials hit adulthood and social media started. Millennials are snarky and hate/complain about everything... especially if it's popular. Hence, hate for Nickelback.
As a 20 something in the early 00's, Nickelback was literally every third or fourth song on any given rock/pop station. They kept pumping out catchy pop-rock songs and they were loved, until everyone got sick of hearing them and it became what it has been till recently where they're starting to get their popularity back. So I guess they were overplayed so much it took 20 years for people to get over it. LOL But seriously would love to see y'all react to Side of a Bullet. It's a song about Dimebag Darrell, they were really good friends at the time of his death. Keep being legends, fellas!

Not a huge nickleback fan but imo this is one of the best videos ever put together. Didn’t hurt that this is a great song too but the amount of people from Wayne Gretzky to 3-6 mafia to Paul wall and Gene Simmons. What a great video !
Party like a Rock! Love this song, and I haven't been to Atlanta since I was 4, lol. The video was on MTV, and if I am not mistaken was even featured on Headbangers Ball.
For me, it's partly being overplayed, but also Chad was a bit of douchebag for a while and shot his mouth off like a fool. The rest of the band are cool though.
No, haven’t heard the song y’all were talking about. I still like How You Remind Me. Jerry Cantrell is cool with them and has played an AIC song or two on stage with them. Yes, that Jerry Cantrell. Or maybe from Mexico City either "Disposable Heros" or "All Nightmare long"? Both excellent songs, but live the fans energy was and still is insane. It was started by a comedian who loves heavy metal that went viral and part of the beginning of Troll "Hate As Entertainment" culture. Everyone wanted to be a comedian and get laughs from their friends. And over-exposurer was part of it. Haters today need to grow up.
There was a definite time period in the 2000s where Nickelback were really really overplayed, but as a kid of the 2000s I never hated them, I really liked ‘em actually, always felt that any hate they got was a bit too much. This is a fun song to just kinda have on and sing along too~
I'm going to forgive you for taking so much time discussing things before the video like 10 minutes😂😂😂 in my opinion whoever put this video together with all the cameos is off the chart amazing❤❤❤ I don't know why people hate Nickelback as a Canadian I think they are amazing one of our best bands in my opinion and as you said photograph is a nice song another one is someday is beautiful and You Remind Me is another one❤❤ personally I think it was some social media influencer that didn't like them and people are like sheep and follow suit😢😢😢😢😢

BTW I would recommend Burn it to the ground as your next song.. if you can sit still while this plays... you are better than I am lol
They were too popular to be cool. Same as Creed. Everyone from 10 year olds to 70 year olds liked them. I have heard the Party Like a Rockstar song your talking about. Im not so far away though South East NC.
The older generation had the same feeling for 'You light up my life' and 'Don't it make my brown eyes blue' They alternated every other song on the radio. I hated both of them, just from over exposure.
"This Afternoon " is a great one they kind of make fun of themselves . Like you said it just fun music sometimes people get all uptight about Nickleback for no reason.
I used to DJ rock clubs and started playing Nickelback when they were brand new, people asked me who they were all the time and absolutely loved dancing to them... that never changed but some people that danced to them early doors stopped later on... partly because they got overplayed (radio) and partly because it was cool to hate them How you remind me was massive but then they got hate but then this song came out and people went crazy over it too Check out Because of You... album track, not a single, i used to play that track alongside Pantera and people lost their mind over it and went pale when they saw who it was... Burn It To The Ground is a banger from Nickelback. They get a lot of hate but they put out some good songs. Kid Rock, Gene Simmons, Ted Nugent, Billy Gibbons also had made appearances in this video.

Legend has it that Slipknot was partly/mostly responsible for the Nickelback hate. Roadrunner Records saw the pop that Nickelback was getting and threw so much money at them, it was impacting other artists, so Slipknot popularized the hate around the time "This is how you remind me" became an earworm in pop music. It was the right spark needed for the meme to spread that Nickelback was mid/not hard enough/hacky dadrock. They're kind of like Backstreet Boys now; people made fun of them back in the day, but if one of their songs was played in a bar, they'd be belting out every word because yeah they were earworming hard enough to know all the words, and they really weren't THAT bad.
Billy Gibbons is the ZZ Top member that is doing the lower speaking part ;) I'm surprised y'all didn't shout out Wayne Gretzky. --- d'oh watch till the very end ang 😆🤣
So according to the internet, Party Like A Rockstar samples the Yngwie Malmsteen song "Black Star", but I'm still convinced it came from the song Khampa Nomads by the band Mortal Treason. The Mortal Treason riff and the Rockstar riff are way too similar for it to be coincidence.
The guitarist said in Total Guitar magazine he can shred better than any guitarist in history. Things like that add to their hate! This song is fun when it comes on in a bar though! I remember thousands singing along when it came on the between bands at Download.
The name Nickleback came from singer Chad krogers gramps. He owned a 7-11 type store and there was an item that was $0.95. People would had him a dollar and he would say… here’s your nickel back. Heard that from an interview with Chad years ago.
I love that song ya'll was singing and i'm in Kansas! 😂😂😂 As far as Nickleback goes even when everyone was hating on them and its still true today if i like it I could care less what anyone else thinks! I'm the same way with movies! I was the wierd kid in school because while everyone else would be blasting songs such as Nickelback well in my high days it was Tupac or U2 i was blasting songs by the Doors or Led Zeplin or Black Sabbath.
Look at it this way. Foo Fighters are a socially acceptable version of Nickleback. Not my words but said by someone in a metal thread. Sounds seem familiar, no?
I've never been able to understand the fervent hatred for this band myself. Listen to "Silver Side up", regardless of how you feel about Chad Kroegar it's actually a pretty damn good album!
i think what it is, is Nickelback was one of the last huge rock bands before the transition over to rap being the most mainstream genre, so the record companies that were trying to make the transition happen, used their influence to push the narrative of how much they suck, hoping to convince people not to listen to them anymore. Cause Nickelback actually has some really good, and some really heavy songs i don't know how many of their songs you guys have checked out aside from maybe their most popular ones like this song and How You Remind Me but just to name a few Hero Figured You Out Feeling Way Too Damn Good Never Again Next Contestant Animals Too Bad Saturday Night's Alright (Ft. Kid Rock)
I think that the fact that they were in that awkward “middle school” position. They closed out an amazing genre & tried to blend that with the newer ones. They straddled the middle & were successful, but then they were played out. Nu metal & emo took over while everyone was recovering from the hangover of bands like Nickelback. There were “better” options by the time we started to rediscover them. They’d always been harder & most people didn’t know that because a lot of their stuff wasn’t as mainstream for the radio. I was in high school when they came out & I’ve always loved them, but I did get tired of the radio over saturation. I admit I took a long break from them, but they’ve been putting out great, really quality, music their entire careers.
Dolly parton just released her master peice calles rockstar, 30 tracks 22 are covers of rock songs most feature the original artist, highlights, freebird featuring lynyrd skynyrd before carry died, stairway to heaven, hey Jude with Paul and rings, heartbreaker with Pat benatar, like i said a 50+ career and this is her masterpiece

I don't think Nickelback is hated as much as the memes might suggest.

I had the shop Boyz cd back in the day
The guitarist said in Total Guitar magazine he can shred better than any guitarist in history. Things like that add to their hate! This song is fun when it comes on in a bar though! I remember thousands singing along when it came on the between bands at Download.
Reminds me off Styx in the late 70's a great band that people used to love to hate on
You should check out Ram Jam” Black Betty “. They shot their video in someone’s backyard. Still an amazing song!
I wasn't big on any grunge or 90's rock being a bit older as a kid in the 70s and coming of age in The 80s, but I love this song and video
I'm from Canada 🇨🇦 I love Nickleback they were overplayed on the radio but they have some bangers❤
The name Nickleback came from singer Chad krogers gramps. He owned a 7-11 type store and there was an item that was $0.95. People would had him a dollar and he would say… here’s your nickel back. Heard that from an interview with Chad years ago.
You'll love their cover of "Devil Went Down to Georgia "
"Party Like A Rockstar" is an amazing song! It definitely reached NL Canada
T-t-t-t totally dude! I haven’t listened to the song in years
Definitely recommend checking out those days from their newest album
This could be a country song in my opinion this is so much great
Paul Wall is Houston through and through. He’s always hyping up the Astros. H-Town baby!!! 🤘🤘🤘
And yes, I am familiar with “Party Like A Rock Star”.
Look at it this way. Foo Fighters are a socially acceptable version of Nickleback. Not my words but said by someone in a metal thread. Sounds seem familiar, no?
Im from the woods of Michigan, we all heard party like a rockstar
I've never been able to understand the fervent hatred for this band myself. Listen to "Silver Side up", regardless of how you feel about Chad Kroegar it's actually a pretty damn good album!
i think what it is, is Nickelback was one of the last huge rock bands before the transition over to rap being the most mainstream genre, so the record companies that were trying to make the transition happen, used their influence to push the narrative of how much they suck, hoping to convince people not to listen to them anymore.
Cause Nickelback actually has some really good, and some really heavy songs
i don't know how many of their songs you guys have checked out aside from maybe their most popular ones like this song and How You Remind Me but just to name a few

Figured You Out
Feeling Way Too Damn Good

Scratch + Riffs: the nu metal DJ tribute by Jack price, it is a compilation of some of the best djing in nu metal
Gene Simmons. Kid Rock. Ted Nugent.
Dream blunt rotation 🖤

You should react to their song Figured You Out performed live at Sturgis in 2006. The concert footage is bananas.
You have to do a Staind series!!!!!!!!!!’
Y'all should check out My Darkest Days video Pornstar Dancing featuring and written by Chad Kroger. Also features Ludicrous and Zack Wyldd. The lead singer is now the singer for Three Days Grace
I don't see why so many people shit on them. I really like a lot of their music. I just don't understand all the hate towards them.
Love Nickelback, always been a fan!!!
You guys gotta do Cameo "Word Up"
I believe everyone is secretly Nickelback fans, but refuse to admit it.
