Never Too Late was released shortly after Ricks daughter Heidi died.. the 3rd track on the album “Take Me Away” was all about how he wanted to get away from it all, that’s probably why Rick doesn’t look very happy in this video.. I dare say he’s with her now. RIP Rick missed but never forgotten.
remember buying the vinyl with its spacey cover and immediately fell in love with this bit of a groovy opener.. was a quite good album too.. only "Falling in.." and "Enough is enough" didn't get me.. This may have been the last clip they shared with John ..those were the days when
What a great find! Love seeing the 80s clips still with Nuff & Spud. And love Spud's rolls & fills. And Nuff a bit keen on the backings at 2:21! 😂Thanks so much for posting
As a big Quo fan, and video collector, I had never seen this track before. However, I personally thought this track and the entire album was very weak and was the real start of the decline of Status Quo. The only track I could relate to from this album was Riverside, and that track was totally ignored by the band when playing live, just as Slow Train from Quo was inexplicably ignored from live shows apart for a snippet in a medley. Speaking of unseen footage, I saw on New Zealand TV in 1976, Quo doing Roadhouse Blues from the Marquee 72 footage. I also heard from an Irish guy who saw on RTE TV in early 80s of Quo playing Byd Bye Johnny also from Marquee 72. It would be a blessing to see these clips agsin, if they still exist. Has anyone here ever seen these clips?
Please get over it. Bands mime on TV. Every mimed clip on UA-cam invariably gets that comment. I'm not even a fan of this but if you are, just enjoy it

Funny enough - this was the song that got me in to listening to Quo - I played it to death and thought this must be their greatest song. Time proved me wrong..!
@@ACDZ123 I agree. I think Just Supposing was a better album. I thought I read somewhere that both albums were recorded during the same recording sessions with Just Supposing being released first and probably contained all in all the better tracks from those sessions. I think in some way this is held against Never Too Late and lack of singles also contributed to that
@@garypmcgovern2321 I always consider the album to contain intelligent music funily enough. The way the songs on the B-side follow each other up is brilliant imho.
You can quite clearly sense John waiting for the right time to kick his drum kit over and utter 'fuck this pop shit' and who can blame him for seeing it all get progressively worse all to attract a new audience.
Great song, but Rick does seriously not want to be there, he does not look happy ! One of the very very very rare occasions so see him this way, but given what had been going on in his private life at the time I for one cannot blame him. Probably a contractually obliged thing going on, and Frame is trying to cover for Ricks lack of presence.
An album track all day long, not of the quality to be a single. Something… was a far better song. Don’t know why Rick is singing, that’s Bernie Frost’s voice on backing vocals.
Rick using an open Fis tuning one this song. same as over the edge, vs schekter telecaster, they rare played stuff like this in shows or tv recording. Lancaster and coughlan looked freshh, like andy bown, rossi had fun, like rick to, It looks so easy, but if you want to keep it driving, you have to play it from the heart. Thats not easy
Rest in Peace Rick and Alan.

Great post mate 👍
It is the title track from the 1981 album Never Too Late and the last album from the Frantic Four.
Why did she die?
@@alexanderostrovsky8688 how did she die? She drowned in the family swimming pool.
@@richardlloyd166 Really? It's horrible. Why did they let her swim alone? Thank you for reply.
The world was great actually in 1980! Wish i could go back.
I wish it too!
Fresh faced boys 43 years ago 😂. Thanks for this, never seen this before.
Great track from a great album, really enjoyed this footage. First class drumming by John Coghlan, a shame he fell out with them a year after this.

What a band, what a music, what a rhythm, what a songs, Status Quo Forever!!!
Great track and album. 👏
Excellent 👌
Further proof that STATUS QUO are the best and greatest Rock Band in history.
Have you ever seen another band? 🤣🤣🤣

Nice to see them all together, this would be the year John was ousted, shame they're miming to the album track, but it's still a rocker.
One of theyr best Albums...love Quo more as 45 years...
RICK AND ALAN, I MISS YOU SOOOO😢
Fantastic song

😮OMG My Good Gods of Rock 😊Despite the sorrow and pain that never goes away 😢Rick and the band proved right ❤ right❤k
Good song 43 year's
It always amazes me how so many bands can play live without their guitars being plugged in?

They're not playing live
I think we can establish that
Wi-fi? Bluetooth? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Practice, son, lots of practice.
Love it

Thanks!
Never seen this one before.
It makes sense for them to mime to this, gics. It was a single in Spain.
Amazing to see this though.
