I laughed out loud when Matt got out his fish weighing meter, but it was perfect for demonstrating the strength of this attachment. I was in the market for a magnetic gauge and his fish weighing demonstration "hooked" me. I bought it straight away and it really is very powerful. It is perfect! I realize this is from seven years ago, but please keep up the great videos. I hope to made a sun shade soon and will be studying your videos.
The inexpensive one is not meant to be attached to the painted surface of the machine. It's meant to stick to the needle plate. On an industrial or a quasi-industrial machine with heavy duty paint, the magnet is simply not strong enough to stick. On a domestic machine or when sewing light to medium weight fabric and when the guide is attached to the needle plate instead of the body, it will work much better.
oops, just bought a cheap one... hope it is some what better than that worthless one you had ;-) but... if I hadn't seen it on Aliexpress, I never new it would exist, so.. if i'm not happy, i can still buy your one ;-) and still be happy for knowing one exists ! Thanx 4 this video.
Ugh. I just sewed my first seam on my Sailrite sail cover kit using the cheapie $5 guide from Joanne and, just like in the video, it did not stay put so my 10’ seam looks like a drunken snake. Live and learn.
if you like them very hard to move these are for you" I just didn't want to struggle when ever I wanted to move them. they may loosen up with time I don't really know.
Do NOT buy this thing because it works TOO good. Seriously. Yes there is such a thing as something working too good = useless. Basically, once this metal seam guide is placed onto your machine, it takes and Act Of Congress to get it off or to move it around. The darn thing acts as if it is bolted to the metal. I purchased this seam guide and regret purchasing it because it is so difficult to take off once it is put on. Yes, it does work on the Husqvarna Emerald 116 and the Husqvarna Emerald 118 sewing machines. On these two machines it will attach to the metal face plate.
+Kimberly Norton To remove it try using the two finger prongs on the sides and pry up on them, you should find that it is easily removed if that is done. Otherwise you are correct, it is very solid and firm.
+Sailrite From the far edge of the Presser Foot to the edge of the ending edge of the Throat Plate is 1 + 1/8th inch of metal. If I am looking at the front of the sewing machine, to my far right is where I am measuring the Presser foot (area toward the inner part of sewing machine). From the edge of that Presser Foot I am measuring to the end of the Throat Plate. So I only have 1.125 inches of metal in that area. If I need to move the magnetic guide to the far right of my Throat Plate then I am not sure if it will have enough magnetic surface to hold itself. If you can understand what I am saying so far, do you know if this magnetic sewing guide will work?
Nope. Not unless you have a REAL machine with a METAL BASE. Once you graduate away from your Fisher Price My First Sewing Machine and get a Sailrite, then you can start using professional accessories like this.
Thank You for keeping the quality high Sailrite. It means a lot to me.

That is awesome!!!
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch new series online?
Me too 😂😂
Matt, thanks so much for the info on the seam guide, I just bought this from your company.
Excellent, thanks for your purchase!!!

Looks like the inexpensive one needs a little magnet therapy to enhance its stickiness! 😄

Will this work for a computerized sewing/ embroidering machine? Will it mess with the system?
These feet are designed specifically for the Ultrafeed line of sewing machines, we cannot verify whether they will work on other machines.

+Kimberly Norton You're funny! I have the same machine. Thanks for your post. You got your money's worth!

I like your style.
Kimberly Norton you are right
Do you know if the Suisei G20z will work well with the Husqvarna Emerald 116 sewing machine.
+Kimberly Norton I do not know that brand of sewing machine, but if the sewing machine is all metal then the magnetic guide should work on it.

Ah ha; solution found (I think.) Yet, they will only work on my antique White.
In Germany they are cheap.
Nope. Not unless you have a REAL machine with a METAL BASE.
