What I like about Tonic is that he cruises along without flipping his head and listens to you
I could watch Tonic’s ears all day. What a privilege to sit behind them ❤️
What a horse Tonic is. You're so lucky Monty. X
You should show more of the group interactions before and after a hunt while everyone is on their horses and how you clean down your horse after a race or how you prepare him for one. That would be good content ppl would want to see
He does and his content is already very good. He shows it in some videos. Give the man a break
Absolutely love your videos! It's a pleasure to see such a quiet, calm and skilled rider crossing some great country and jumps. I love how Tonic listens to you, and how much you reward him. So nice to also see someone not hanging onto their horse's mouth, you've clearly got the right bridle and also his level of fitness means he's got plenty of engine power, but he's not over the top. I'd love to see at video of you "at home", showing your daily routine with him. Keep on hunting and kick on! 🙂
“When you can’t find the field master, turn into him “ 🤣🤣
I looooove Tonic!!! and I love how smug you are after a great jump with that giggle. You must feel so lucky to have such a fantastic hunt horse in him.
Hi Monty, another great video!
I actually liked you being more vocal, really enjoyed your commentary/thoughts on your way around!
(Not sure if that was still a bit of booze in your system from the night before) 😂.. but you should def do more commentating, it gives the viewer a bit more of your experience.
Loved the “listen to my leg.. or Not!” 🤣
Looked like a nice ride!. That was a bit of cheeky grey, and his cheeky grey rider lol.
You all looked like you were having good fun, (apart from the girl that got dumped at the hedge that wasn’t cut), Tonic took it like the legend he is at his young age. You must be so happy with him 😊
Please keep the videos coming!
Happy New Year from Northern Ireland, hope 2023 gives you and Tonic health to enjoy your rides together 🥳🎉
Only recently found your channel. As an expat from the UK , now living in Canada, following people like you is my way of getting my horse fix. I had horses when I lived in England but not quite your caliber. Tonic is superb! You seem to be a very quiet, sympathetic rider but also expect your mount to give his all.....which he does with pleasure. Really enjoying your content so far.
What a day. Fabulous country. Wonderful fences including the bullfinch ! That horse is a credit to you. Watching him sort out the two walls road crossing. He never lost a beat.
Absolutely fabulous. Such a Good Boy. The Irish Draught is a wonderful breed. I had one and he would literally have a go at jumping anything and so safe and steady. Cracking ride and so nice to hear you telling him well done. I’m sure they like to know you are still there!
Tonic is a super horse, lovely even, steady pace and for a big horse, very nimble on some of those sharp turns at the fences. I'm so glad he wasn't hurt when he was jumped into from behind.
Your horse is a machine! U.S.A.
What a horse for jumping that uncut hedge! Well done both of you, looked so fun 🤩
Just love how you always say thank you to tonic what a legend ❤
Well done. I love watching your beautiful horses and country side.
Hi, Tonic is a dream of a horse. Lovely to watch your adventures together.
I love ur relationship, ur so caring and tonic is so genuine x
Thank you for explaining about the blood hounds, I didn’t know they had long ears for that reason. They are gorgeous dogs.
omg at the start of the vid I think it was the third jump my heart dropped because that car came wen u jumped the jump love your vids
Jesus the car coming as your hopping over the fence.. terrifying
I love the horse appreciation
Glad to hear that tonic hasn’t been injured ! You have such a reliable partner under the saddle. And regarding the gloves / I experience the same on rides; every loop I get new ones 😉👍🏻
Great ride.. Tonic the Ledgen the 🐴 horse
Poor Tonic. Getting shoved about again. I'm glad you had the ten minute break,to check him all over. But he's a legend in my eyes Monty. Even though he's still very young. He's brilliant. But then he's very well looked after. And he looks after you. Looked like a good day out though. Didn't see your mum. Was she there? Happy New Year 😎😎
Early! And I really like watching these type of videos! you should make more!
Another great day. Thank you for a great vid.
Tonic has a steady pace, it serves him well.
Hello Monty, I love watching your videos. We don’t have the opportunity to ride in Australia in such beautiful surroundings, though we do have better beach rides! Give Tonic a kiss from me, he’s a gem. 🥰
I'm absolutely in love with Tonic. My Irish Draughts are 3yo and 6mo old, so no hunting just yet.. but I am definitely looking forward to the day! (I have videos on them if anyone is interested in the breed.) I would love to hear a bit more about Tonic's breeding and your plans for him. Are you keeping him, or training him to sell? Etc.
Love seeing your progress with him. The man on the Chestnut should have shouted on your left.
I haven't got the 🥎🥎's too jump that big anymore 😂😂
Love tonic ears flip flopping around! 😂
Lovely to see you back at it Monty. My partner is absolutely craving a good gallop with a field again (though we don't have our own horses anymore, or should I say yet). Tonic seems to have really come into his own which is wonderful to see; he's confident and scopey and you're both a perfect combo out at the front of the field. Enjoying your content as always. Happy New Year.
Congratulations! 🎉
I love watching your videos and seeing what its really like to go round jumping the big hedges out hunting hopefully I can next season on my bigger pony but for now I'm sticking with my little mare jumping the smaller jumps😂🥰
Admirable concern for your horse!
Well done for commentating and riding, No way I’d be fit enough
Another great vlog. Tonic is a legend 🇮🇪🍀💚 defo lovin the commentary. 🤠Yee ha
Loved watching this! Tonic is just an absolute legend! Wish I’d come to this one. Only just started hunting with my lil welshie but she LOVESSSS it! Maybe see you on the hunt field one day! Happy drag hunting 🤩
😊❤ well done. Just a thought, try rubbing Tonic with your knuckles, instead of patting him with your palms. It will keep your hands ✋️ from getting sweaty from his neck.
He's a beauty !! ❤😊
Love your videos, you and Tonic perfect for each other. I'm with you in spirit from my recliner as you evoke wonderful memories for me when i worked in a national hunt yard many many years ago for the love of horses never the wages. Lol! Thank you for sharing. By the way, my horse's name was Scarlet.
Tonic loves putting in those short strides at the jumps
My heart skipped a beat when you jumped the fence and there was a car. If you didn`t turn the horses that could have ended so badly! But it looks super fun and what a nice video of your perspective:)
Ha ha ha 😅! Happy New Years dude! From the USA.
Only just found your channel but I am watching all the hunt videos! Love the content. Used to hunt every season down in norfolk before I moved to Scotland. Sadly horseless so can’t get back out there on the hunt field!
Love Tonic!!
I sure hope the person who allowed their horse to jump right on top of Tonic at least apologized.
the "heeheehee" gets me everytime
Just found your channel great videos
Love Tonic. Did you breed him yourself? My in laws breed Irish draughts here ìn Ireland.
Great to watch, but etiquette and good manners from the field have gone down hill since I last hunted 20years ago. I've seen better manners at Bulgarian gypsy horse races. Although turn- out is a little less smart.
Tonic is a sweetie ❤️
You should make more of these videos! But there is only so many hunting events take place in a year. Meh…
10:35 Sometimes you just gotta hang on and trust your horse.
The chestnut held its line, didn’t jump in the back of Tonic
He he he he
"Should be a polo pony"
😳
Where is this at ?
Hunting with bloodshounds does look a bit monotonous but what a horse Tonic is. Jumps like a machine. Seems to be a bit of bumping and boring...and you're a great thruster,!!
Excuse my ignorance I have recently become interested in riding. I wanted to ask what is the whip thing for? All the riders seem to be holding one but don't use it?
You hold it out .. and let the long thong trail to keep Hounds away form your horses hooves .. the brow tine antler on the end is for holding gates open and pushing them closed
This question has come up a lot - I’ll address it in the next video - thank you!
I love watching ur vids but I also know that people thinks hunting is cruel. It isnt. If you want food you to get rid of the foxes or they could potesionally get mooved to a fox friendly farm.
What is the whip for?
The crack of the whip is used as an auditory cue to the hounds to stay clear of the hooves of the horses in order to maintain safety for the hounds in the field
You hold it out .. and let the long thong trail to keep Hounds away form your horses hooves .. the brow tine antler on the end is for holding gates open and pushing them closed
Where were the hounds? That wasn't a hunt, drag or otherwise. That other grey that kept on getting in your way was a nuisance and quite rude. Not one of your best Monty.
Some major inbreeding there.
“If you can’t find the field master, turn into him” 🤣
That is some great advice
