It has been noted that some of these commands do not have any effect on the game in its current iteration. The notable ones that seem to make no difference are the "q_" commands. You are welcome to test them on your system and decide for yourself what does and does not work best for your setup.

Interesting, thank you. I have to say, none of this should call for console level commands, they are all pretty basic things the game should be doing by itself or as accessible options. There's "in development" and "undeveloped" and the line between then gets crossed by SC slightly more than it ought, using "in development" as an excuse🙂
Hopefully, one day, the undeveloped side will be significantly smaller.
You seen the damn game? Yeah, keep the brain in the dome.
Baller intro my guy!
Thanks! Now if only I can get the rest of my video to be that good!
Fov does matter, a higher fov lets you see more of the game so it lowers fps as there is more going on the screen at once. You will notice this even more with widescreen monitors like using 21;9 or 32:9 screens.
As for windowed vs full screen, full screen makes more use of the resources available, it also lowers any background window animations and shadows on desktop icons and screensavers, You also get reduced input lag in fullscreen mode.
In my own testing, the FOV setting did not significantly change the fps whether it was set to minimum, maxed, or middle (My monitor is 21:9). It was tested in numerous locations around the system. Your results may vary and I would suggest you go with what gives you the best frames.
Again, I did my testing in numerous locations across the verse, and on my machine, the settings in the video were the best fps I could get. Your results may vary and you should absolutely use whatever settings get you the best fps.
This video was simply a jumping off point for players, as well as documentation of my own settings and results.
From what I know about SC it doesnt render any less on a lower FOV than a higher one. The reason you may see lower frames in 21:9+ setups is because the resolution is higher.
Thank you for sharing this, though some commands seem to have no effect because they dont exist in the 'auto-completion' if you try to type them in (Done just now in LivePU on 3.17.5).
These commands seem to not exist:
q_ShaderDecal
q_ShaderHDR
Thank you for the heads up. I will do some testing as well and update the description as needed!
Thank you again for letting me know. I've updated the description with that information, and after testing, some of the "q_" commands do not seem to have any effect or even exist. That could change again so I've left them there, and have left them in my setup without any issues.
Hello CMDR Zapp
Thanks for your info, the CFG file has no effect on me or did I do something wrong ( written ). How do you get to 170 FPS ?? is really crass, thanks for your answer.
I translated it with Deepl ;-)
Roger
Well, unfortunately, I have no way to tell you _exactly_ how I get 170fps, as I have a different machine than you, running different programs in the background while I play, on a different IP, ISP, and game server. For what it's worth, I don't get 170fps in-game most of the time(that was in menus). I'll average 30-40 in Orison and 50-90 everywhere else. It's only out in deep space, all by myself that I get close to 170 again.
The point of the video is to help buff your fps though, because even 10fps can take you from 5 to 15 which is significant when you're around heavy LOD areas or fighting for your life.
Is the ssdo command specific for if I'm running the game from an SSD?
I couldn't answer that for you specifically because I'm not familiar with exactly how it works. But I can highly recommend you have Star Citizen installed on an SSD regardless of if you use any or all of these settings.
@@CMDRZapp surprisingly getting around 40 fps avg with noticeable bugs but on an Intel core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 6 cores, 16g ram, and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3gb
SSDO has nothing to do with an SSD drive, SSDO is a lighting post process that makes stuff look prettier and more realistic
works with the latest patch 3.19.0?
These aren't patch specific things, but rather PC specific. They'll _probably_ work, but the only way to know for sure is to try it.
Hello CMDR Zapp
That's how I copied it,
sys_maxFPS = 0
sys_maxIdleFPS = 0
r_VSync = 0
r_MotionBlur = 0
r_ssd = 0
r_DisplayInfo = 0
q_ShaderDecal = 3
q_ShaderFX = 1
q_ShaderGeneral = 3
q_ShaderGlass = 0
q_ShaderHDR = 0
q_ShaderParticle = 2
q_ShaderPostProcess = 0
q_ShaderShadow = 0
q_ShaderSky = 0
q_ShaderWater = 0
r_enable_full_gpu_sync = 0
Roger
The content of that is correct, and I assume you saved it correctly as
USER.cfg
in "all files" mode instead of text document mode.
and I assume you placed it in your Star Citizen directory like I did, but it's not going to change your fps by 50. If you were getting 10-20, you're probably going to get closer to 20-30, but that varies greatly from machine to machine. It's generally not a single thing that helps optimize your game, but the combination of the lot where you really see any improvement.
