As a little side note on ERS management I’ve seen the real life deployment maps and very often drivers use it for 3-5 seconds off of a corner to maximize acceleration.

I was an absolute god on f1 2020 but now that i bought f1 22 i feel like going all the way back to noob, the car feels so weird, been playing for a few days i feel the progression but its definitely hard to get used to
Get what your saying I've struggled a bit more with this one so far. I feel its the same at the beginning of every new game but after practice you'll adapt more. That being said some games will you suit you more than others.
The hardest thing for me to learn so far has been the fact that I can't mount curbs as much as in the previous games. Some curbs are okay and others will throw you or spin you with any throttle input, as it upsets the ground effect aero.

I have the exact same thing it really sucks. And when I drive I have the feeling I’m driving the exact line they drive but I’m always 2 sec slower for some reason.
It’s been rough as an Aston/ seb fan this year. Driving that beautiful car in f1 22 has been so nice lol. Stunning car if only it was as fast as it looked!
once I figured out how to do set ups, I understand that was the main thing, honestly! perfecting a set up what is directed to your driving style...everything else will just come with practice, assists, racing line and all that are the easy points to learn imo that will just be second nature with time spent on the game...set ups is where I struggled so much in learning and understanding.

Really helpful video, man. I agree with a lot of what you have said here, and am applying these tactics to improve my race craft. I might do 50 laps on TT before I'm happy with a setup. I usually just start with yours on PS4 TT, and then tweak it to suit how I like the car to handle vs. lap time. I like the point you made about not restarting a lap because you muffed a sector, too. I will start doing that. Been watching your channel for a while actually, and you have inspired me to start my own about being just a casual player trying to get good at F1 games by applying the information in videos like this from experienced racers like yourself. It'll be a long journey full of patience, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Keep up the good work. 110 AI is maniac mode. I did 110 on 21, quite comfortably. But on F1 22 I'm doing tops 90something and I'm honestly clueless on how to improve at this point.

Do you have any tips to go from 200-400 th in TT to Top 100 or something. I am not sure how to improve because I think I am quite competitive but there are some small things to improve. 😅
Set yourself small goals in TT e.g. improving by 2 tenths in one day. Don't reset laps, don't drive for more than an hour at a time with plenty of breaks, be patient 😋
This is true. You just need to spend more time in the braking. Then you wipe off a little more speed than what you're used to, and it will turn ;) So brake a bit longer into the apex. Hope it helps
About trail breaking I have a Logitech g29 and a play seat challenge. And I am doing sim racing for like 3years now and since I turned every assist of. I do trail breaking automatically even before I didn’t even no what it was. But allot of your and other UA-camrs vids helped allot.
JD, great video as always. Im curious why you, and many esport drivers, dont use the mirror option. I find it very helpfull to have more knowledge of my surroundings. For example you got hit from behind in corner after the straight in Miami and you had no clue untill it happend. When you have the mirror on you can possibly react earlier. Going to imagine most people with a wheel will have the logitech g920 and quite frankly I find it impossible to trail brake and applaud anyone who can. The pedals are the thing with it that really disappoint me and I can't afford to upgrade. I know many others will be the same.
I find the exit of corners to be extremely hard this year..I played with 89 AI difficulty on F1 2021 but now I go down to 80 and I still cannot challenge the front runners in my career mode even tho I have the fastest car...funny enough the normal 1 race mode I can bump up the difficulty back to 88 and manage pretty well..I think the my team career mode is just broken..as is everything else on this game
Try to really focus on race line (entry) to open up the corner, carry good speed, and feed power in gently untill the car is moving more. Exits are important!
Mistakes are how we program our brain. I’m just glad to be off of the assists… mostly. I can feel the power it offers but I still haven’t reached the point where I’m beating my assisted laps. It will come with time.
im on pc and i just take onne of the setups from the people in the top 10 and then do a few laps then change the wings to higher or lower and see if im faster :)
Can you do a video explaining the best/easiest way to transition to no racing line/manual gear? I am consistently 1-2 seconds behind the world records on TT on all tracks using no steering/brake assists etc. I use TC/ABS/Auto Gears and I want to know whats causing me to be slower and what assists defo will help me make up time. Do a couple laps with suggested gears on, then turn it off. You'll know exactly what gear to go down to depending on how slow you have to go and also by hearing the sound of the engine.
Dont Know what i do Wrong but my best Imola Time is 1:20:456 That is 3-4 sec slower Than you. I use csl dd with csw 2.5 without Any driver assists. I dont see who are the 3-4 sec

I do! I guess, don't overdrive. Just work out where you can push and where you need to be a little more patient. Once you know those areas, you can execute :) Hope it helps

It's an absolute tragedy that increasing something like camber (at ALL), for instance, which IRL improves performance, only makes the car slide around the track pathetically. Typical fast setup = springs 1, roll bars 1, camber/toe full right/left. It's an absurd setup but the game requires it.
Sounds like you just need to go a few steps back to the race line and entry phase. IF you carry more speed, you get more downforce, and you get more grip, and therefore you can get on throttle a touch harder. I'd work on entry race line and carry that speed in ;) Hope it helps

Hello! I play on PS5, always been a decent player on F1 2020-21 (100+ AI, top 5k every track in hotlap) yet in this game i struggle MASSIVELY when trying to get traction out of corners. The car simply spins like hell even in 5th gear sometimes, playing on pad. Anyone has some help to offer?😶 (TC off obviously)
Hi I was also in about top 4k on 21 so sounds like we are on about a similar level. Can I ask what vibration level you have your controller and trigger settings you have in-game? Throttle is definitely harder this year (I've had my fair share of spins) I've personally been trying to enter a corners a little slower trying to straighten the car more than usual on exits of corners and carry more speed out. I've found that has helped. It reminds me a bit more of 19 where you have to be a bit more patient with traction. Hopefully they might implement a patch at some point as well so we get a bit more feedback on throttle.
I deadset can’t go a lap with assists without spinning out locking breaks and going through a corner so frustrating and puts me off playing, I try and try but I can’t get it right
How I started was doing full length races with AI set to 30 or 40. Follow them around the track. Don't try to set fast times until you feel comfortable. Doing time trial. I found myself pushing to hard.

True but best used on main straights or out of a corner when your slow
Yes you are correct but using it after a corner with acceleration you will lose the rear end its better on straights to defend or to overtake

Great advice, most important is don't let blood rush to your head on first 2 laps, then stay consistent. Racers are always slower for a lap or 2

This game is more physical but also more interesting to run 50% races for example. Not because the game is new but because he’s a lot better

Just switch and realize ur gonna be slower for a while. Secondly know that manuals are so much more fun and keep u focused and engaged a bit more

Listen to the revs mid corner. Should be firm with enough capacity to pull out in that gear + not bog

I'm playing on a g920 xbox one and it's ridiculously easy to spin without assists and abs feels so strange compared to the other games

Yeah same, the braking model is a bit different. You need a little more control in this game

the thing is if i try to get on the power and be aggressive i spin if i´m not aggressive i´m losing 4 tenth to the ai in traction zones it´s quite odd

On the joystick it is nearly to impossible to do a proper tail breaking... I just can't do it...
im playing on lower wings just to keep up with A.I idk if that will work in the races tho

I deadset can’t go a lap with assists without spinning out locking breaks and going through a corner so frustrating and puts me off playing, I try and try but I can’t get it right
How I started was doing full length races with AI set to 30 or 40. Follow them around the track. Don't try to set fast times until you feel comfortable. Doing time trial. I found myself pushing to hard.
