Another benefit of shortshifting is fuel usage, can easily save you 0.50 laps so you can start a race with less. These little things matter big time in high level racing.
Cheers, always wondered how it affected fuel.
@@HizenHerz24 the longer you rev the gears, the more fuel is used.
This is the single most important piece of advice for F1 sim racing. It changed my experience and performance so much. I still downshift to 3 or 2 to get engine breaking (don't know if that's optimal) but up to 4 at the apex when applying the throttle. I used to apply throttle on 2nd gear and spin so so often. I played F1 maybe... 2002 :-D before a super long hiatus, and I don't remember the traction being this horrible. I more or less never spun back then with all assists off.
Nicely done however a lot of people short shift while accelerating out of the corner which would be an interesting comparison to short shifting in the corner before getting on the power.
Out of curiosity - I notice that on some of the corners (like out of Tamburello), you don't short-shift, but out of Tosa and Acque Minerali you do - how do we work out which corners are good to short-shift at, and which are good to just progress through the rev range normally?
I have a question regarding traction in f1 22 and Fanatec. F1 wheel and V3 pedals got some vibrations in some games. Does it work in F1 22? Is it benefitial in any way?
Congrats on the move to Ferrari.🎉😂
Wdym? He joined mercedes didnt he
@@SamF1TheAvGeek yes 😂 just stirring to get a response.
I was so confused 😂
@@MarcelKiefer hahah sorry that was my Aussie sense of humor stirring shit up, lol. I enjoy the content, keep it up buddy! :)
@@MarcelKiefer thanks now I know how to play without traction
Do a ronhaar and cheat, thatll gain you loads of traction
Congrats on the aston martin contract!
I see you braking on 50 m mark on final straight if I doing that I can’t turn in. I have to brake on 100 mark what am I doing wrong?
Here's my lap, and these are the conditions:
- cockpit view (image below, cropped top and bottom for this video)
- customized Logitech G29, slightly modified pedals
- zero assists, real car performance (not equal)
- dual monitor setup (hence the wide calculated view, including mirrors)
Missing the apex a few times, so still room for improvement, I'll keep practicing. The ghost car in the video is my previous record (I like practicing each track as they come in the real F1 season - now I'm "preparing" for Imola, for example :) ).
Indeed, short shifting is a must. But I still go to the lower gears, many times, it helps me control the braking and turn entry. Sometimes I should use a higher gear, I realize that, but most of the time I feel it's more natural to go lower, as I probably would in a real car (not necessarly an F1 car...). I guess I'll never know what's real: they don't want to make this a simulator, and I will never ever touch an F1 car... so... :)
So this is my style, but to tell you the truth, I've never ever gotten closer than 3-4 seconds to the great Esports pilots (top of the list in TT), that's a hard limit for me on every track, no matter how great of a day I have! And I wonder if I really need to think about upgrading my gear (especially the pedals! the brake pedal to be exact)... I won't blame it on the gear though, I only have a few hundred hours in the F1 2010-F1 22 and Assetto (not thousands), I see where I'm still doing it wrong during the lap (including this one), but once I hit those +4 seconds... that is it! can't do better to save my life! :) Waiting for the new F1 23, I already have it on my list, hoping for a little bit better experience!
Here's my lap: ua-cam.com/video/VatyZ6pPURc/v-deo.html
imo it's okay to go low on entry to get more rotation, but then you need to short shift quickly, from the apex or even before to maximize exit traction
@@WeberNiraechtoe I prefer to short shift after the apex, faster or slower depending o the corner type and speed, and to apply throttle progressively to match the gear change. It's muscle memory at some point, I don't think about it anymore (when I know the track), although I have to improve here and there. It's funny how I'm "scared" (a bit more nervous actually) of some specific parts of each track: sometimes they look easy but they're tricky to me (not optimized yet, I still have to understand them better), and some are considered very hard, but I feel very confident. :) But that's the beauty of it, I love this stuff.
@@virtualf1_2022 My approach is always go as close to full throttle as possible on exits, then if spin - flashback - reduce throttle input - until it doesn't spin or feel on the edge anymore, since it's sim racing and crashing won't cost a penny, I tend to throw caution out of the wind a lot in practices lol
@@WeberNiraechtoe Yes, that's the main goal, max efficiency. But I'm a bit harder on myself, I don't use flashbacks (or anything "artificial", they don't have it in reality), I just restart my laps and try everything again (I rip out the page and start over :D ). Because my target is in fact to find the best pace, I need to learn the track so my car becomes predictable, then I can trust it long-term (races). Sure, I struggle for the fastest laps in TT (until I hit that annoying limit... which, on the other hand, is closer to the real-life lap times, and that's enough for me!). But my higher goal is to build lap after lap with rhythm and consistency. I find that more important than lap records. And somehow this translates into a sort of a "zone" I enter at some point, where I can just breeze through the laps without thinking about each little detail anymore. It's cool when that happens, I feel like I don't need to brake that hard anymore, and I can accelerate with more confidence. And I need every turn to be at that level and then put everything together in one lap.
tbh, if you actually learn to be fast in tv cam and then change to cockpit view you can probably get the same lap times after like 2 days.
Ask Ronhaar 😂
He’s found a way to get that AI grip
Hey Marcel, kannst du mir erklären, warum ich mich manchmal im 6. Gang einfach wegdrehe? Bin auch am shortshiften und verliere einfach so das Heck
> Der Dreher fühlt sich auch null natürlich an
It would be really hard to do a lap without short shifting since it is such a natural thing.
So cool that you've moved to McLaren!!
Damn, i do this all the time in the corner 😂😂
my only problem i have fear to go full gas i will try the short shift
Setup videossss
Thanks for the tip with 4 weeks left until we never play this game again😂
This why people who play with automatic gear can't play F1 22 😂 they spin out in lower gear corners😂
chears moit
11 Months late
We need videos on Setup
New game out soon, no point
