      Yeah, about that staff height... The old guy says 2 kadan (about 6 feet), and take back one kadan (or something like that. So the staff should be less that 6 feet long. The stick Indy's holding in the map room is about 8 feet, or Indy's sitting down. Someone explain that?

    12:35 There was originally a whole sword fight planned for this scene. But on the day of filming, much of the cast and crew caught something like food poisoning, so Harrison Ford asked if he could just shoot the guy. This scene turned out much better than the original plan for them. And it’s probably the best scene In the movie.

    Between the STAR WARS original trilogy and the first two Indiana Jones pictures, Harrison Ford was the top Box Office draw in Hollywood. Loved your reaction! (I'm not a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd Indiana Jones pictures, so I'll skip those reactions. But I can't wait for other films you'll be getting to.)

    That's based on and inspired by a Donald Duck comic written and illustrated by Carl Barks. he's literally a artistic genius in the history of American comics. He inspired Osamu Tezuka (the creator of Astro Boy) to get into drawing - and it all started by an American soldier hearing Tezuka playing piano music and then responding with opera. They sat down and had a chat and the soldier brought him a bunch of American comics the next day that had a lot of Carl Barks work in it.

    The Picture they show of the Ark being opened in the book is a real event in the bible. The Philistines, took the Ark from the Jews as a prize from victory. They paraded around their city blocks, until they reached the center of their city's square. With Large groups of on lookers, waiting for the Ark to be opened. They figured there was treasure inside.. So at some point they opened the Ark at the city's center. There was a large flash of light, that went across a good part of the city. People started to drop and get Sick, all that were at the opening had boils and tumors all over them. There is no account if they died, but the effect sounds pretty much like death was coming next. Plus there is no Time event, from opening to when they got sickened. So you could imagine, how fast they returned this Ark back to the Jews. People back then called it judgment, due to the 3 items that are inside the Ark. "Rod of Arron" "Gold pot with Manna" "Commandments"
    1. Rod of Arron =Staff that causes life from baroness.
    2. Gold Pot of Manna = piece of the Body of God. Most churches today call it the body of Christ, and everyone eats that wafer.
    3. Commandments = Laws of Judgement. which today, some to many humans try to live by somewhat. "what we call morals/common sense"
    If you ask me what was inside the Ark: I think because of the type of sickness, it had to be something highly Radioactive. By opening it, it reacted to outside elements causing the flash. Or, Maybe God just said "take this!"

      As someone who doesn't believe reality is filled with supernatural and mystical stuff, i always took the magic in the Indy moves for just that. Exciting adventure, based on old myths, legends and magic, just like the pulpy Mummy movies of the 1930's, Clash of the Titans, Thor, etc.

    • @lisamaitland157
      @lisamaitland157 Рік тому

      @@trekkiejunk The bible described the sicknesses. putting my logical mind to what causes these sicknesses at a fast or slow rate, would be radiation. This Ark was carried everywhere, and on it's travels would have been tossed around. If they had radioactive material inside, and it was banging around. it might react to opening it up. Sense there's no time line of the illnesses. It could have been some form of plague inside the ark. If your the biblically person, one would say the items inside did it. The movies took it to another level. If they wanted to get it right, the Nazis should have fell I'll and dropped to the ground with boils all over them. The bible tells you what to wear as the opener. What's funny about this is, the outfit it describes might be enough to block enough radiation. This would make sense to tell the opener to wear this and don't touch the sides of the ark.
      If i was to believe the Ark is real in it's power. Then i don't see the Ark discriminating, on which side opens its. The Ark will wipe out both sides, on the field of battle. So you open the Ark to kill your enemy, but the Ark will also kill your troops and you.

    Classic adventure film, you will never see anything like it (and the two immediate sequels) ever again. Hollywood would just vomit a CGI mess these days.
    Fun Fact: The famous scene in which Indy shoots a marauding and flamboyant swordsman was not in the original script. Harrison Ford was supposed to use his whip to get the sword out of his attacker's hands, but the food poisoning he and the rest of the crew had gotten made him too sick to perform the stunt. After several unsuccessful tries, Ford suggested he just shoot the guy. Steven Spielberg immediately took him up on the idea, and the scene was successfully filmed.
    Bonus Fact: No serious archaeologist believes the Ark Of The Covenant is in Tanis. In fact, it's a known fact that it is in Ethiopia. I suggest watching the documentary here on UA-cam. You can easily find it.

      Actually, not only is that NOT "a known fact," but it's not even considered likely. There is ZERO credible evidence that the Ark of the Covenant even existed, let alone survived. If it ever existed, it would have likely been melted down by one of the many, many peoples that have conquered the ancient Hebrews.

    On the Big Bang Theory they explained that Indian Jones could have been completely out, not even in the movie and everything would have happened the same way . The nazi’s would have found the ark , they would have taken it to the island, opened it up got killed, and the government would have collected the ark and put it in the warehouse.

    • @trekkiejunk
      @trekkiejunk Рік тому +1

      Well, if that show said that, they were absolutely wrong. How would the Nazis have found the Ark? They had no idea where to look, and were close to giving up. They needed the headpiece from the Ravenwoods, and the Nazis couldn't find them, nor could US Intelligence. Only Indy knew where to find Marion, and the Nazis followed him there. No Indy, no Ark. ALL of this is explained in the movie. One among many reasons to not watch Big Bang Theory.
