I just wanted to say Thank You for this video. When searching for "Learning to fly RC" there are actually very few videos which actually teach you how to handle your first flight. This video is exactly what a new flyer really needs to learn. Say "Hi" to your dad for me. I liked his wrap up. Good teaching will tell you what you're going to learn. Show you what your learning, and then tell you what you just learned. You guys hit all 3.
I am in the hospital recover from back surgery for the next few month but am anxious to try this plane for the first time. I flew fixed wing actual aircraft until a few years ago and have NEVER flew an RC. Now with this video i have the confidence.
Excellent video... Kudos to you and your dad. I flew the AMA pattern back when I was in my 30's. Now, at 76, I'm getting the urge(s) to get back in the hobby. While I am considerably slower and out of practice, I'm getting the exact aircraft you recommended. One thing from my past: Just remember that take off is optional and landing is mandatory. Thanks again from Las Vegas.
SUPER INFO on video. I am in the process of buying an Apprentice. I am just waiting to hear back from Horizon on a question I emailed them yesterday. Thank you so much for creating this video as I just came across it. I will be watching the assembly one shortly. This came up on my UA-cam area as it probably picked up the info from several searches, on Horizon, for the Apprentice, batteries, accessories, etc. from yesterday. Rich
I keep my bands over the prop then I know I've got them, another little tip for beginners is to put a mark on the wing and fuselage to make it easy to line up, some great tips for a beginner, nice one 👍
just got my own apprentice s 2 1.2m and got it set up and flew it....didnt watch this before and i should of.i come from the car/truck/quad rotor scene and figured it would feel about the same, i was cocky and dumb......said " safe mode fights what i wanna do" and sent it. expert mode, 6 mph wind, new bird, maiden flight. about 10 seconds later after a nose up stall and fighting my controls it crashed out, broke the tail end off and shattered the motor mount. used foam safe CA glue and some painters tape to hold it and fixed the fuselage and am 3d printing a mount.....imma take a few points i took her into deep consideration and use em. biggest things i would say i learned in my short but insanely fun time and this video for those pondering: 1 if you want to do it,DO IT, save up, get an apprentice and just enjoy it. 2. if it has assistant flight and you are new, use it bravado brings breakage. 3 small inputs to speed. take it slow is smooth and smooth is fast. 4 if you break it, stop by the hobby shop and buy the parts/glue to fix it, its fixable as long as it still looks somewhat like an airplane! 5 have fun and find a friend/get a friend to join with ya and learn! whats better than one person? two, three, four, or more! 6. TREES ARE ENEMY. AVOID THEM thankyou Merry Boozer RC for showing a hothead newbie pilot like myself and any aspiring pilots the proper way to do things! great video and much love!
En mycket, mycket bra instruktion video, jag är just där och dellär mig mycket, har just köpt ett FMS super Ez v4 så denna video hjälper mig otroligt mycket, tack, ❤❤❤ Mvh Lasse
Thanks for an informative video. I'm a drone pilot but have never flown a fixed wing aircraft. I'm picking up a used Apprentice on Wednesday, and I found this video while looking for... Well, this video, really. Thumbs up!
This is a great vid. I have been watching stuff for about 3 weeks and my Aero Scout just arrived today. I would say this is the BEST of all the first flight vids with a SAFE setup RC plane. Thanks!!!
Wesley, I 100% agree. The Apprentice line from Eflite is some of the best models to learn to fly on. I got back into the hobby flying the original 1.5m Apprentice and not look back. 😊
Thank you for this video. Great explanations and the video with the controller during flight is exactly what I was looking for. I'm starting a new High School Aviation class this Fall and we'll be using RC planes to demonstrate and practice the principals of aviation. I've picked up an older used Apprentice S and will learn on that this Summer so I can work with the kids. Thanks again!
Just bought and flown one of these (76$ used) and it's great! The first rc plane i ever flew, and i landed it pretty nicely. I flew about 3h RealFlight sim though before trying the real thing...
The hobby zone super cub 2 is hard to beat as a trainer as well, at half the price. It is a bit smaller but still has all of the safe/expert modes as the plane in the video. If you have your own transmitter the plane will even send telemetry data. For around a hundred bucks its really a good little durable first plane to train on and enjoy
Thanks i am stoked you used split screen to see control i am struggling with rudder throttle but seeing it might help it was a huge difference then just seeing the air plane.
Kudos to your Dad and the videographer for helping to make this a great video. Do you recommend using a sim program to learn basic muscle memory before the first flight? Would you buy the transmitter (the DXs) separate from the plane and the RealFlight evolution sym? (I think the plane comes with a DXe transmitter). I believe the DXs can be used with the sim software. All the best to your channel. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO,,YOU EXPLAINED THE CONTROLLER PERFECTLY,,MY DXs transmitter WILL BE HERE SOON,I REALLY DON'T HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF RC PLANES, IM A DRONE PILOT BUT,I WANT YO LEARN " RC" ITS IN THE MAIL WITH MY DOOGLE WS2000,LOOKING TO LEARN MORE FROM WATCHING YOU!! THANKS DONCOLE OF LINCOLN NEBRASKA 👍
So I just caught the bug a few days ago and ordered all my favorite Freewing 64MM fighter jets of Motion RC and I've never flown an RC plane..... I race RC offroad and some oval but never in the air. Think I am going to pick one of these up at my local hobby shop to practice and just build the jets for now. This seems to be more beginner friendly than the Carbon Cub S? Really wish I bought the Carbon Cub S Chandra Patey limited edition on black Friday when they were down to $249 locally as they came with everything and simulator software. Sadly looks like their discontinued now.
I really like your videos - very informative and hands on. I need some assistance, maybe you or someone may have an answer or some guidance for me. I'm new to this hobby and I am happy that I made a choice to get an Apprentice STS 1.5. I put it together after reading the manual and watching many videos, including yours. Once the aircraft is powered up, all controls operate correctly, Safe operates correctly, but I get this annoying loud squeal. It stays most of the time but sometimes it quiets down. A better description of the noise is similar to a real passenger aircraft when hydraulics are turned on. Any suggestions? is this normal? I'm asking because I can't seam to find an answer and I do not hear it in any of your videos. I'm planning to join a club in the spring but for now, all is closed due to the winter cold and snow.
is it the servo making noise? the digital servos in these models are kinda noisy hard to tell without seeing the airplane have you tried posting your question in the Merry Boozer facebook group?
@@MerryBoozerRC I will check. The noise is when the aircraft is on wheels, radio on, power on and no surfaces moving using the transmitter. I will do some digging and will post on Facebook
It is the servos, especially the ones for the ailerons. I can place my ear next to the servo in the wing and I hear the wining. The noise comes when there is no movement of any servos. It happens at all 3 settings, safe, Intermediate and advanced. But, the good news is it goes away after I make some control movements, sometimes repeatedly.
Good job! My main concern is when you put the wing on are there any marks to show me the wing is in the right position or do you have to measure it to the tail? Does that apply to the sts to?
HALLO captain. I saw your video ,and it's , on airplane I WANT now. PS I mean it .th, OLDER man ,ha v e a lot of inspiring. But ,YOU flying ,VERY GOOD.the I ,can see. .so I just .not sure ,If .the glass star .Yes a little more money, for that plain. Mini apprentices,s2, a,WHIT a 2200. Ore ,If it can take it ,than ,a 3000 .miliamp hi. That's how VI say ,I DANMARK. Yes ,I Danish. I, enjoy the video .GOOD WORK. MV B RENE' Pedersen.Danmark.
A BEGINNERS PLANE (FIRST PLANE AS YOU SAY) SHOULD BE SOLD WITH EVERYTHING RTF KIT, PLANE TRANSMITTER CHARGER BATTERY , HOW A BEGINNER KNOWS WHAT HE NEED TO FLY IT
information. at 4:21, cg should still be confirmed, Visually. if the cg happens to not be near thirty percent of chord, something is Wrong. at 11:43, oh, it's also a Good idea to ZERO the throttle. gaaawd.
I'm not paying $300 for a plane that's held together with rubber bands. Whether it flies or not. Tired of these companies ripping people of. $300 for a piece of styrofoam!!

Where I fly, I'm the only English native speaker
So I found this realy great .
Great trainer This and the AeroScout in my opinion are the best trainers I have the AeroScout If I can fly it anybody can lol Nice vid guy's 🔥👍✌️
Great video for newbie pilot !!!🙌👍
I landed and the propeller-snapped off and the whole back in peace snapped too off it’s very easy to break.
Wanted to say thanks, as this helped me very much, this taught me not to panic. Thankyou 👍
Just bought and flown one of these (76$ used) and it's great! The first rc plane i ever flew, and i landed it pretty nicely. I flew about 3h RealFlight sim though before trying the real thing...
I wish that these kind of aircraft were available when I learned flying.
Thank you friend for a really informative video just what I needed for my first flight with my new mini apprentice. Really enjoyed it.

That's some good demonstration and explanation of a first time pilot flight lesson Merry Boozer, very well done 👏
Brilliant Thanks for Sharing
11:11 is the best! haha! Thank you for this video, very informative and awesome review!
Thanks i am stoked you used split screen to see control i am struggling with rudder throttle but seeing it might help it was a huge difference then just seeing the air plane.
Very informative and helpful video. Already bought the horizon hobby carbon cub rtf kit. Your video is the most helpful to me as a beginner. Thanks 🤓

Nicely done Boozers !! Thanks for the tips and advice. Hope all is well, and I loved the radio camera 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Really enjoy my mini apprentice
Thank you Appropriate video 🎉🎉
Thank you for that, I'm just about to head out for my first attempt :)
Nicely explained, thank you
Great video, perfect people to give advice on how to fly. Some nice tips 👍🏻
thanks for posting

Will the Carbon Cub s2 be similar in flight control?
So I just caught the bug a few days ago and ordered all my favorite Freewing 64MM fighter jets of Motion RC and I've never flown an RC plane..... I race RC offroad and some oval but never in the air. GREAT video, thx! Question, first time pilot, go with this one or the AeroScout?
How long of flight time does a fully charged battery last?

How to fly your first jet..... should do this next
I can for sure if this is popular
I like that plane alot but i hate the wing attachement. Im into scale RC and the rubber bands were a deal breaker for me
Good job! My main concern is when you put the wing on are there any marks to show me the wing is in the right position or do you have to measure it to the tail? Does that apply to the sts to?
There is a plate in the middle that you just line up. You could also make a mark at the middle to line up if you wanted to

I won’t turn on. Any tips what’s wrong with my plane
👏👏👏👏

Wesley, looking for a AR12310T if you a guy let me know
Yea those are hard to come by currently I think Horizon won’t have any until next summer hopefully they get some sooner I need one also
👍👍

Why did you land with the wind? Start into the wind, land into the wind 🤔
you can not trim in safe mood , it will make the plane level what so ever
First!
Tried this.. broke the tail off first try.
The worst thing that can happen is the airplane flys away and you lose it.
Rubber bands suck. No bueno
I'm not paying $300 for a plane that's held together with rubber bands. Whether it flies or not. Tired of these companies ripping people of. $300 for a piece of styrofoam!!
Probably paying for all safe mode features
