    Extremely nice! Not the image reference I expected because I thought it had an underwater feel towards the end.

      Thank you so much! This one definitely has an underwater look to it. I didn't notice that until I walked away from it for a little while and looked at it again with fresh eyes.

    I like what's going on on either side of your painting. I always like my pallettes better than my paintings.

      Thanks! I agree-I love peeling the dried acrylic paint off my palette and using it in other pieces.

    Chris, I love how this one transformed, I love watching your process, and I love how you decided to add lots of blue which was not necessarily in the reference photo - it came together beautifully. Bravo ❤👏

    It's a good reminder that you often need to add many layers to achieve the end result. It was with those last couple of layers that the white lines developed and merged into their final design.
    Often people stop those couple of layers too early. And many people think that they can get the result in only a couple of layers. When you watch a video like this it shows just how many layers it actually takes.
    Really like this piece.
    Do you have a video of something along the lines of creating the bark texture as you mentioned in the video? Would love to see something like that to give me an idea of how to approach it.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks so much, Pure Sun! You’re absolutely right-those final layers can really bring everything together. It’s easy to think you’re done too early, but pushing through often leads to something special. I’ll have to work on a video showing that bark texture-great idea!

    I think this is my favourite idea of yours so far. I Love the use of the spatula to reveal the underneath colour. I've actually saved this to my 'Have a go' collection! 👍

    2 things ... no chemicals should be used without gloves... the cells are vulnerable. Also, Play is not developing skill its play....

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  4 місяці тому +2

      Hey Ann! #1-you're 100% correct, I need to do much better at wearing gloves. I'm going to put a check list in my studios with that as the number 1 item. #2-I'm curious why you don't think you can develop skills while playing. I think it is a great way to enhance and develop skills. Maybe not as structured as some exercises might be, but beneficial.

      @chrisloudart I believe that play is exactly how you learn to develop your art. I happen to just realize recently that I ha ent done enough of playing, and I believe it has held me back from developing new marks and shapes.

      Put your mask and gloves on and go to bed with the covers pulled over your head.
