Queen - It's Late (Official Lyric Video)
/ queenofficial
I discover new underrated legendary songs of Queen everyday....
I look in the comments section of every song and people say "this is my favourite! this is the best Queen song".....
now that's Queen... they don't have any best song... each of their creations is a masterpiece
Absolutly - each of their creations is a masterpiece :))))))
So true
There’s only one that I haven’t seen that 'this is my favorite Queen song' comment under, and it was Sweet Lady, which is understandable.
Yep, the News Of The World album was one of the greatests
my friends here, we all love queen..
I'm reading these comments, it touches my heart to see people who love Queen as much as I do, or even more.
Anya Hall I’m 10 AND IM OBSESSED WITH QUEEN! ITS THE BEST BAND EVER! I also like seeing other Queenies it makes me feel happy!
fax bro
The greatest singer ever, the greatest band ever, geniuses, John ,Freddie, roger, Brian, long live queen,,
Freddie Mercury is the best I bet you’re here after watching the movie
We're out here, and this song just smokes me every time! Brian's guitar! Roger's drums! Whoa they are all 4 so damned good!
sometimes...all you need is Queen.
Lelly Garwood yea but it lost that that campy feeling after getting too... mainstream? it was gay at the beginning but by the good mean,.then it's gotten gay in a pop meaning and even i don't understand what i'm saying but you get it guess...
So true I give the 42th like ô/
It's exactly that
Or love, if your a beatles-fan
I never thought it was gay or campish at all. It was just Queen. Then in the early 80's the gay word became more of a label in conversation. Changed the connotation of my favourite ice block "Gaytime". I didn't even know until the early 80's that Freddie was gay or bisexual. Didn't care either. Then AIDs became a worldwide word. Remember this is before computers. We were taught about it in high school. I love the name Queen. Imagine if Brian and Rodger insisted they kept the name Smile?
This is probably Brian May's masterpiece. He wrote a great tune and really shines on guitar. Freddie, of course, takes it to astonishing heights with his godly vocal delivery. Great harmonies from the guys, as well. I love it!
Hard to pick a favorite Freddie Mercury vocal, because they're all so damn amazing.... But I think this is one of his strongest vocal performances...
HARD TO CHOOSE 1 SONG OFF THIS MASTERPIECE OF AN ALBUM! BUT FOR ME THI$ I$ MINE! LYRICALLY MU$ICALLY VOCALLY PERFECT! Pete
no prophets song is better

This is literally a jewel hidden in the discography of Queen
Only real fans know about this one
Not hidden from me. My first or second-favorite Brian May song.
You literally misused the word 'literally".
Released as a single in the States
@@johnstitt3717 figuratively speaking
It's never too late to start listening to Queen.
Even if I'm 119 years old and I can't move a single bone? Also I'm deaf?
@@petergriffin1409 yup, even if you’re deaf you’d still be able to here it

News of the World. Much too late just listen to Roger and Brian. I was nine. Still love it and appreciate it.
As a life-long Queen fan, this feels like the one song that gives us all four guys completely loving what they do. Roger and Brian not just hitting it hard, but really meaning it. Deacon absolutely smashing the bass and Freddie, more than ever, singing beyond perfection to bring us absolute heaven.
I love john's face with goofy he seems so happy.
You've just toured the world, what are you gonna' do next? I'm going to Disneyland!
Yes.
that pic is in so many videos lol
They used that pic in My Melancholy Blues 😂
Or deranged.
You decide.
The more you listen to this song the better it gets
And considering I have listened to this album since the early nineties when I was a kid that's a long time.
I keep seeing u in the comments section and I really respect that
The first time I heard this track, I was blown away by the drumming of Roger. He is so underrated as a drummer. He ranks up there with the great ones. Sure he's no Ginger Baker, Neil Peart, John Bonham, and Keith Moon, but damn he's fantastic. Now about the lyrics, Brian really hit the nail on the head with this one. One of his hidden masterpieces with the band. John Deacon is also a fantastic bassist. He really accents the song with his playing and meshing perfectly with Roger. Finally, we get to Freddie's vocals. What more can one person say that hasn't already been said all over the world. I miss hearing his voice with new material every day. He is sadly missed by me, just like all of the past musicians I have listened to over the past 46 years. God Save The Queen......
💯💜👏🎤🎶🎹🎸💯
Freddie was absolutely correct when he said they would never split ! " Why kill the goose that laid the golden egg " ? These 4 gentleman brought more joy to so many people , spanning over 4 generations , and easily going into 5 , I know my parents had all of their records and quite possibly even 8 tracks , I owned all of their cassettes , records , tapes and CD's , and my children and their children too now own all of their music , either on their phones or their mp3 players or their IPods , and I thoroughly believe that my grand children's children will also be listening to them long after this ol' bird is dead and gone!! As all of us die hard Queen and Freddie fans are probably hoping for as we dance around our houses cleaning , with our grand children following , helping us do " the 10 second tidy " , singing along with the greatest boy band history will never forget!! 💚💚
He's not too far behind, amazing drummer...my favourite ahead of Peart and Bonham.
Peart and Bonham also had the luxury of playing the drums without having to sing..one of the hardest things you can do as a drummer, play and sing at the same time.
He sucks ..get out of denial..remember denial isnt a river in Egypt
Taylor is up there with the "greats" hands down!
This is, and always has been, my favorite Queen song. So many of their non-hits are simply masterpieces. ❤💕
wingsandash
The Millionaire Waltz
completely agree
stone cold crazy!!!
wingsandash And of course The March of the Black Queen
Can we talk about how much of a beast Deacy's playing is? LOVE how dirty & gutteral the bass sounds.
Incredibly interesting bass playing - it varies so much, is so well thought through and is just brilliant.
John is one of the best bassist ever
I can’t hear a thing, what bass?
Sammy Hagar stole the riffs? Or Queen stole the riff from Hagar?😂
Saw them in their prime in 1979 . One of the best shows I’ve ever seen . It’s Late was one of my favourites from that show.
Jealous!
Woah! Where did you see them?
I saw them in Richfield Ohio. Great show in 79

Brian's riff and Fred's voice are crushing
And see, I love WWRY and Champions, but they are just the shadow of Spread your Wings and this masterpiece. Top
Now there are a LOT of underrated queen songs, but this?
this is on a whole different level. THIS SONG SHOULD BE AS POPULAR AS BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
This song is so underrated!
This and '39 too, but this one definitely more so
+Griwhoolda ..so true...bolts rock and the emotion
They had a lot of underrated songs! Which I play the shit out of this song and the others to my kids! Rock ON!
Queen played this song last night! It was awesome!
not by us!
Freddie's highest note HIT is in this song
Yes an E6, i think
Oh, really? :D Can you say when?
***** Actually, at 6:15
Kumo CC that squeal? not a big thing
GreenLightMe Highest screeched note maybe. Wouldn't call that note sung. : )
It's late in the night and I'm writing my astrophysics thesis with Queen in my ears
Mongalz Brian would be so proud!
IN your ears??
Brian would love to hear this, I think. I'd bet he'd done the same thing at some point.
Brian it's an astrophisic too
Brian, come here!!
The power in rogers drums with deacons bass throbbing is really shocking !!
One thing I love about Queen is that all four members have their own musical style so you get a nice mix of Roger's hard rock, John's funk, Brian's catchy melodic pieces and Freddie's experimental stuff.
I love songs from each of the members. While I'd say '39 is my favourite Brian May song, It's Late is a close second.
This one blew me away the first time I heard it...
Same here dude.
Me too. I think it is the same for every Queen song.
this is me right now
I agree, (don't hate me) but what made me love it more was the version sung by Adam lambert, just love it more now x
Agreed
"Teo Torriatte", "The Prophets Song", "I'm In Love With My Car", "From Father To Son", "Storm Troopers In Stilettos" and this one are IMO under rated.
And '39.
And Spread Your Wings.
A Winter's Tale
Every song that is not popular on radio or TV is underrated when it comes to Queen.
I think all of Queen's songs that aren't singles are underrated.
Queen's greatest rocker and one of their top 10 songs.
And most people don't even know/remember it!
Queen fans do.
Couldn't agree more. Such a powerful song and very sophisticated musically.
Their second best song and my third favorite.
Thank you Dr. May. Freddie says, "Hmm, yeah", and I melt into his arms. wtf, no one caught me...
I fuckin remember well am 53 years old. Lou. Kentucky
I'd forgotten what a f------ brilliant song this is. It's breathtaking
My alltime favorite
i'll say it, fucking brilliant.
Most underrated song of all time. The essence of Queen. A stroke of genius.
Definite candidate for Queen's best-ever song. I'd have no problem ranking it #1.
+SelectCircle great song but best queen song ever ??? Never !!! I can name you easily 10 better songs from Queen
Freddie Go for it. I got my barf bag at the ready.
SelectCircle
I give you more than 10: Bohemian Rapsody, Love Of My Life, Killer Queen, Save Me, Don´t Stop Me Now, Somebody To Love, Spread Your Wings, Hammer To Fall, You´re My Best Friend, Seven Seas of Rhye, Keep Yourself Alive, Liar, Father To Son, Nevermore, The March of the Black Queen, Now I´m Here, Seaside Rendezvous, Misfire, It´s a Hard Life,Jealousy, You And I, Play The Game, Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, Man On The Prowl, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, One Vision, A Kind Of Magic, Friends Will Be Friends, The Show Must Go On, It´s a Beautiful Day, Made In Heaven, Let Me Live !!!
Don´t get me wrong, I like "It´s Late" It´s also a great song but for me these songs are better.
Freddie In other words - just about every other song they ever recorded. : D
+SelectCircle That´s not even half of the songs Queen ever recorded
My absolute favorite Queen Song. Love them all but this song does it for me. Way Underrated and no airplay. Epic Masterpiece.
I agree!! This has always been my favorite Queen song sing i first heard it on 8 track!!
I have never heard this played on radio, even rock radio stations. They just play a few of their songs these days. When they were active with Freddie, they got lots of airplay in the UK, so its only fair that the current music artists get their chance to make it big. I hear some decent new rock too, not in Queens class, but still good. But the song is pure class. I love it.
One of their best songs, and highly underrated.
Leslie here..not only did Brian May write some killer lyrics and combined with Freddie’s vocals it was an instant classic on the first day it was released.
So here I am..8/22/24.. still jammin with Queen.
Rock on 🤘🏼 and Peace y’all 🎶🔥🎸🫶🏼💋
In the early 90's my aunt asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I replied "any Queen album". She got me "News of the World" and my life was irrevocably changed. If it had been a vinyl copy, I would've worn it out. Fortunately, it was a CD. This song is my favorite and needs no attribution or supplement. This song is beautiful in every possible way. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Queen.
Last time I heard this song was probably 2009 and I had almost forgot how good it is. I wish more people know this Queen song (and other underrated songs) and not just Bohemian Rapsody, Somebody to love or We are the champions.

It's 20 20 and I am still stoked on QUEEN
6:16 "WOAAAAAAHHH"
E6? What a HIGHEST note you did it, Freddie!
No he’s done F6 in some live shows
Maria Daniela, E612
C Y D E E yes. He hits F6 on the worst legs of the shows. He hits an F6 at one of the November shows, maybe the last one. It's on Keep Yourself Alive. He also hits an F6 on 9/5/1885 Under Pressure. He hits A6 on the BBC session of It's Late.
Except he once did F6 and potentially did an A6 in a bbc recording of this song I think it was. Someone even said it might’ve been a C7!
*He out high not Roger*
his vocal is just mind blowing. i can really relate to his emotions to this song.
I rode hard on my bicycle to the store every day waiting for this album to come out, this song is one of many gems on NOTW. I love this era especially from say 1976 thru 1980, friends mom drove us to Dallas for the Jazz Tour, then caught the Game. Love
So you literally made bicycle race exactly year before Freddiecame with the idea of the song. Nice
Wow!! Do you have any memories from the shows?
This song just kicked me out of depression for a few minutes
Queen is good for your mental health, FACT.
You should listen to 'Just Keep Passing the Open Window' It is a long title but it is basically 'Don't Try Suicide' Part 2, but a lot better, however this song is fucking amazing
💕💕💕💕💕💕
and yet somehow this song was written by bri-
Sorry ur depressed ... there is a reason for everything if ur like me u grovel in it..if not then get over
This is legit my favourite Queen song. Right up there as one of the greatest rock songs of all time in my opinion.
Melancholy Blues is a good one from “News of the World” as well.
@@rebeccarodgers3649 I never separate these two songs
Same here!
Overall I have very fond memories of listening "News of the World" as a teenager.
Melancholy Blues, Spread Your Wings, All Dead, Who Needs You... Great stuff indeed!
Roger’s drumming is so heavy. Brian’s guitar playing, too.
Can you imagine the kind of music Freddie would have made if he was still alive? Rip Freddie
This is hitting on ALL CYLINDERS!!THEY WERE IN TOTAL HARMONY! CLASSIC ROCK N ROLL
There are so many phenomenal songs by Queen that have never gotten the recognition they deserve and this is just one of many.
6:15 That's not the guitar, it is Freddie's vocal !!
Wooaaaaaahhhhh!!!
Umang Kayastha I've always wondered about that if it was Freddie. 😳😳😳 Wow
Blossom Gonzales He's a god 😄
Umang Kayastha I
Umang Kayastha yep thats him hitting his highest note E6
the greatest song by an iconic band that few people have ever heard. maybe the best showcase of Freddie's talent that further demonstrates how great a frontman he was as this song wasn't written by him. God, how blessed is May to have had this demigod voice one of his best compositions?
this song will get used in some great scene in some great film someday and it will be everywhere. lets hope so.
Its beautiful and Freddie's voice adds another dimension 1:45 there's something about when he says "hmm yea" that's emotional.
Great song, great band, great everything.
Agreed
This one is definitely one of my favourite “less popular” Queen Songs.
Same
One of their most underrated songs, absolutely love it, and the entire News of the World album. It might just be my favorite Queen record. What an incredible band.
This is the most underrated queen song ever
The most underrated song ever.
Check out "The Hitman".

Splendid work of John with his constants bass breaks.....He attacks the drammatic line of the song permanentely....
My favorite Queen song and In my top 5 songs of all time. Song is BEYOND a Masterpiece!!!!
Queen and Freddie forever! Their talent is just beyond belief.
I'm back!! A year older, still love it, can't get it loud enough
I don't want to like this cause it has 39 likes...
Same. It’s never loud enough.
Brian wrote this and let Freddie THE MASTER sing it I am so impressed bye what a true band they were!!! NEVER be another like them!!
My favorite Queen song, bar none. Everything the band does best is on full display here, turned up to 11, and it soars.
Back in the day, I bet this would've been quite the thing to hear live.
God bless You and your grand opera! You will live forever!
One of the best songs ever written
This song (and the entire "News of the World" album) has such a special place in my choices of favorite songs.
I would like to point out what Brian May does in his guitar solo. He uses finger-tapping. Eddie Van Halen is widely credited as the first to use this technique in rock music. Van Halen's debut album was release in 1978. "News of the World" was released in 1977.
+Roxanne Rolle, good observation, however Steve Hackett from Genesis was tapping long before both of them. See Genesis live 1973, 12:05 mark.
See the jazz guys from the 40s and 50s doing it
Actually, finger-taping is an old guitar technique.
Roxanne Rolle Steve Hackett used the technique on Dancing with the Moonlit Night in 73. Not to take anything away from Brian May, but Hackett deserves more praise as he is extremely underrated.
Brian May credited seeing legendary Dallas guitarist Rocky Athas in performance at a bar called Mother Blues with inspiring him to learn this tapping technique.
The most phenomenal vocals in music imo. Freddie could do that gritty, raspy sound, he could do more smooth, soft pop kind of vocals, he could do opera. He could make his vocal cords do gymnastics like nobody else. He is my favorite by far and I absolutely love him.
Best Queen song of all time
Queen possessed all the best quality of music we are looking. Can't find something to dislike. Each day I'm falling in love with their songs.
Why was this not on the greatest hits album?!
Gareth Owen It was on deep cuts which is kind of the same thing
Haven't heard that David, will have to give it a go
Gareth Owen An album of their best songs would be completely different from their Greatest Hits album.
Gareth Owen because it was never released as a single. Therefore, NOT a hit
Gareth Owen It would have been huge if it had been released as a single!
I never understood why it wasn’t.
A hidden masterpiece of Queen's music
After literally decades of dithering, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that this might be my favourite Queen track.
you heard the first riff and you can feel that this is a masterpiece.
And you don´t mistake...
Absolutely right.
It's already the first two chords that blow me away...
Unfortunately this album is so overlooked because it has the two hits that literally everyone knows (We will Rock you and We are the Champions). Because everyone was too busy listening to those , they dismissed the rest of the masterpiece that is The News Of The World . They all missed out on absolute gems like this
Its late is off of the album a night at the opera
@@timmacdonald72 haha what
I dunno, this was a monster album when it came out. Not every song was a popular "hit" but everyone knew all the songs. I haven't listened to melancholy blues in 30 years and still know most of the lyrics. One of my all time favs to sing is from another, Lazing on a sunday, a night at the opera. I had a cousin come over from the UK and he brought it....first time I ever heard anything like Queen and was hooked.
@@timmacdonald72 no Tim, wrong .
I could be wrong, but I was under the impression this was over looked because the British press saw the album as a desperate attempt to be like more like a punk band? It's a tie between this, The Game and their Debut for my fave queen album if I'm honest, each album just seems to be at the pinnacle of its style.
Why this song isn't considered among Queen's top three I'll never understand. Such an amazing piece of art!
I think it's because Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prophet's song and Long away are above it for me. So it's "only" on place four. xD But never mind, that changes constantly anyway - mostly, my favourite Queen-song is the one I'm just listening too. I feel like there are at least 20-30 songs which would deserve to be Nr. 1 in their own right.
Update one month later: It's number three now. :-)
Ive seen critics say that the only good songs on this album were We will Rock You and We are the Champions. Please! THIS Song is WAY cooler and rockin than those bigger hits.
This song is so underrated and underplayed
Iv heard so many people say that the Beatles are the greatest band in the world, but I will forever stand by queen being the greatest band in the world

I have such memories of this album. It was my 17th birthday, and my sister got me this cassette as a gift. I had Chickenpox, and was soaking in multiple baths per day, jamming along and learning about this set of new Queen songs. This album got me through such a horrible feeling birthday. Thank you Queen, I love you.
3:00am listening to Queen on a work night “IT’S LATE, IT’S LATE, IT’S LATE BUT NOT TOO LATE!” Lol!!!! Because I can’t stop my obsession with Queen. And that is not a bad thing!! And that picture of Deaky with Goofy is so cute!!!! I’m the only comment for 2 years! How is this possible? Lol.
I bought this album in late 1981 along with queens greatest hits and it's always been one of my top 10 albums I've never grown tired of it
pure masterpiece...... like everything from 70's Queen :D especially the first 4 albums
The most underrated Queen's song ever. Their best ever to me.
Absolutely agree. But a lot of their best stuff is underrated. Ever hear "Dragon Attack"?
Yes, and I absolutely love Dragon Attack too. They have a lot of great songs that never went mainstream, but the same can be said about Bob Marley, and many other greats.
@@SelectCircle I guess it's not even underrated, just "underknown". I only discovered Queen's lesser known stuff about a year ago, and it absolutely blew my mind and still does. Why didn't anyone ever tell me to go and have a look? I guess I only have myself to blame...
@@Daniela_Germany True. It can't be rated if it isn't known! Do you know about Kate Bush? If you like Queen's early stuff - you might like her early stuff even more.
@@SelectCircle Yes, UA-cam recommended some of Kate Bush's songs to me. I really like "Wuthering Heights", "Cloudbusting" and "Running up that hill" which are among her greatest hits, I guess, but I didn't get in much deeper. Thanks for the recommendation, anyway!
The best thing for me is the dynamics of going from this, pure hedonistic, unadulterated rock and rock passion to then "My Melancholy Blues" to finish the album off. What a band and what a voice!
One of the few times UA-cam recommends an absolute banger
Absolute masterpiece!, my favourite Queen song that was never a single.
By far the best song on this album.

Fantastic song, one that does get enough airplay. Love Freddie's primal scream before the last verse!
Brian's foreshadowing howl on the guitar?!!

People seem to forget or not realise this song was written by Brian May in both lyric and musically..Freddie delivers a brilliant vocal.
‘It’s Late’ makes you realize Freddie was not the only one who was hurting - Brian May has to be the most honest, beautiful person ever to grace rock n’ roll! 💜🙏🏻👑😍
Brian May is one of greatest musicians of all time, and a hell of a good person too.
I saw Queen live at Stafford Bingley Hall and Freddie said it was the first time they had performed this live...brilliant concert, came out nearly deaf but what an experience!
I was there, the 77 tour ,so lucky to have seen them ,love of your life[all sung by the crowd]
Wow! Do you have any memorabilia from it?
There are many not very known Queen songs that are wonderful!
I do mot understand how some people can call 1 Queen song a favorite. My God theres sooooooo many...
Actually I tried it by naming Bohemian Rhapsody my favorite song. But hell, it is heavily challenged almost every day. Don't know how long it will survive there. And 'It's Late" is a VERY serious contender. :-)
An under rated masterpiece, such a big song with many layers.
I graduated from High School in 1977 and then went out and bought this album after I started college that year. I reminds me of a time.....
this song, like the band, is absolutely perfect
この曲は定期的に無性に聴きたくなります。ブライアンの作った曲の中で大好きな曲の一つです😊
One of their best songs ever taken from the very underrated News of the World album
Yep. It's amazing how many people failed to look past the twin towers of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" for the other gems that pack this album.
news of the world is not underrated, youre funny.................
Its not underrated at all. Its considered one of their best.
Underrated? 😂
Queen are many things, but underrated is not one of them. Especially not this album. This is the one that broke the US market.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, it ALWAYS gives me chills: incredible number! Way underrated!
Brian loves Beatles, and "I've got a feeling" is an example of that influence❤❤❤
This is one of my long time favorite Queen songs written by Brian. What a great sound! What a great vocal! What great lyrics! Great guitar play Red Special, and the base guitar! And WoooW the Roger drumming, the triplets drum in the last part!!! It's like Freddie is singing Woooo because the drumming is mind-blowing!
アリガトウ!
