Animators Esteban Bravo and Beth David said of making this short film, “We wanted to tell a story that was relevant to Freddie's life, but not explicitly about him. The AIDS crisis of the 1980s is a huge part of LGBT+ history, and it's something that we knew needed to be handled with care. It's a fine line to walk between shedding light on a subject, and perpetuating a stigma, and we were cautious not to lean into tropes and stereotypes that might hurt the modern understanding of the AIDS virus, rather than help it.
In researching the HIV/AIDS virus and the way it affects the body's immune system, we were inspired to take a look at the story through a more microscopic lens. It is a love story between two white blood cells, one of which has become infected by the virus. This perspective gave us a more direct visual representation of our conflict, which allowed us to explore the more nuanced struggles the characters face in their relationship with each other, their perceptions of themselves, and society's perception, bias, and neglect of them.
The LGBT+ community fought for years for the right to proper research and healthcare, and because of that fight, millions of lives have been saved. We wanted to celebrate that victory. Through perseverance, strength, and love, our characters not only survive, but live long, healthy lives together.”

Very intense, and it drammatically shows that it is not easy to live with HIV, because of prejudice... but at the same it shows that treatment is effective and that the ones who have access to it do live a normal life and grow old healthy and happy... Thanks for the video.

The animators have done an incredible job with this video, it is heartbreakingly beautiful.I was crying as soon as it started. One character is chunky like Jim Hutton and the other one skinny like Fred.
I've been mesmerized by Freddie since the age of 5. His loss still makes me cry to this day. He lit up the world with his talent, beauty and grace. The day he left this life a light went out in the world, one that can never be replaced. No one has ever come close ..and as far as I am concerned no one ever will. Loved and missed forever.❤👑❤

I'm crying because he's gone, because he couldn't make his life with the love of his life. Obviously, I am partly glad that he is no longer suffering with this dreadful and undesirable disease. But he also left so young, so full of life (and music too); that I just get sad not being able to go to any of their concerts. And I also think that this song was a way to show how he felt about the interruption with his illness. That last one really makes me even sadder. Then leave me.

god it just shatters my heart to think about all the queer couples that had to go through this exact same situation back during the AIDS crisis.
Ironically, I'm sure Freddie's passing was what set in motion the changes towards how people saw the disease, if we hadn't lost some one as grand as him, maybe things wouldn't have changed for the better at least not as soon as they did. Even in death, he was larger than life.

I learned about Freddie and queen when I was hospitalized in a children's mental hospital 2 and a half years ago, the other patients there were obsessed and I found out about him like that, after just hearing his battle with aids and HIV and hearing this song.. I will remember him forever, even if I never met him or listened to all his songs, this song alone makes me sob because of how he could had been treated and live with his partner, I'm so sorry..

Its neat how they are able to get the base of the disease simplifying it down to the two white blood cells that just couldn't shake this off the way their love has been able shake off other problems that come their way. No gender or sexual orientation ,to be misunderstood as a political statement which is what everything is deemed now days. No Discrimination ,the disease isn't biased. It's crazy good idea I love it.
Anyone can agree that losing a loved one to an incurable disease is the worst feeling ever. Seeing the healthy cell about to lose the love of his life was really too much to bear.💔😭
