i am quite surprised by the improvement in battery life of the fold5 vs 4
Most of it is due to the SD 8 GEN 2 SoC
it only lasted like 35 mins longer and he was using the mini screen a few times
it was just 12% difference

The flip 5 is pretty impressive. When I saw the 3700mAh battery I was like meh but it's surprisingly good. And using it closed will make it last even longer.
Wait until year one than the battery will start sucking

I didn't expect fold 5 and s23 ultra having similar battery life. Its amazing how fold was able to compete with s23 ultra which has much bigger battery and smaller screen. Thats amazing.

Did you remember to set them all to the same image quality? Its very odd how the S23 didn't get much further away from the fold 5 while using a bigger battery for the same chipset
You can't change it on the fold like you can on a S23 because of the weird aspect ratio of both the front display and folding display. The option just isn't there. I'm assuming the S23 died faster because of the higher resolution.

i used to have a flip 4 and i wasn’t getting anywhere near 7 hrs of sot on it . more like 4.5 hrs 🤔
This was 7 hours of continuos battery usage with no variation in the cellular reception, that's why these kind of tests do not represent dy to day battery life.
Did you use cellular connection for internet? If so, then it's normal.
My Z Flip 3 don't go nowhere near 4.5hr mark if I use cellular connection.
I don't see any youtuber using cellular connection for their battery life, which is sucks.

I've been waiting for this video for a long time, thank you!! I love my new flip 5 however I barely get 4.5 hours screen on time I'm shocked to see it lasted this long, what's the trick?
no idle drain. the reason why iphones usually last longer is because they barely drain idly. androids drain when turned off almost just as much as when turned on.
Using the phone with mobile data on makes a huge difference, I also have a flip 5 and I found that if you disable 5G it saves alot of battery. The best way to save is to use wifi as much as possible. Overall the battery isn't great though, but still worth it as the phone is sick

@@Scrappy-UA-cam Stop sharing crap. Install accubattery as I did and check yourself how much it drains on idle and how much with screen on. Its nowhere close. With mobile data enabled S23Ultra will drain about 12%/h with screen on and less than 1%/h with screen off.
yeah my pixel drains on average 3.1% per hour on idle. overnight i lose like 20% whereas id usually not lose a single percent on my iphone 11@@BrushTE
Couple things:
1. The S23 Ultra came out some months before the Z Fold 5, and they wouldn't hold back the battery of the newer device so that it stays "behind" the older flagship. The S24 Ultra far surpasses both, so your idea of the "regular flagship" having better battery life does and probably always will hold true.
2. The Z Fold 5 won by 1 minute. I wouldn't call that better battery its definitely within the margin of error (you did basically say that though)
3. Lowering the screen resolution of the phone does not impact battery performance (yes I was surprised by this as well). There are videos online testing this.

Very Godd comparison, Darius. The flipping thing was awesome! I think that the use of z flip 5 may have been, in my case, with de outside screen much more than the inside. So, this phone could last longer..even longer than de Ultra. I have been using less my phone, and, when I use, it is closed (60% of the total time of usage), so the battery is very good, better than my old s22Ultra. Thanks!

how is this right? put a sim inside all phones in the same 4G/5G network, then do it again. Cellular network drains a lot o power.

How did u get so much SoT on the fold 5 I get just about 3.5-4hrs with light mode on the phone, with dark mode i can get 5-6 Hrs of SoT
Cellular reception takes a massive chunk out of battery
These are just on WIFI and not everyday useage, 5G plays a massive part in battery drain. You can disable it and use dark mode for better SOT. Also disabling apps you dont use will help as well

nobody need a flip or fold phone but a lot of people want the phone cause its different but maybe i should cancel my order and just get the s23ultra
For me at least I really like the flip 5. The smaller form factor when folded is very nice. Most women's clothes have very small pockets, so having a phone that can fit in my tiny pockets is great. Or it also saves a lot of room in my minipurse, letting me carry more stuff like makeup 💞

how the hell you got almost 8 hours on z flip 4? What ??? I can get 1:30 at the max. That means lowest brightness no bluetooth etc. HOW YOU CAN DO THAT ?????

Problem with this video.
1. All older phones had Sim Card installed while newer phones didn't. That could have drained the battery.
No none of them have a sim card

The more you're force to update firmware, your batt will died soon as well. And it's been force! Samsung! Can we have an options not to update! Why should we update if happy with current version! Unless you've significant improvement! Which samsung have been not.

@@mannyblackstar Wrong...Mine has...you maybe lucky but the battery life drains pretty quickly so much so im due to get it replaced by samsung. Fold 5 still going well though - had that since launch and at 94%
@@mannyblackstar also better optimization is false...it has the same system withessentially the same hardware minus for the cameras. If anything the Fold 5 has better optimisation as it can handle multitasking far better...

Yes, flip 5 is amazing, but remember the foldables are pretty delicate compared to the ultra models. If you're ok with that, go ahead
@@Devil-we1rn Well my s22 ultra is an amazing phone but the battery isnt so great compared to other phones at 2023 even at 2022 it wasnt that good. I get like 6.30 or 7 hours maximum with power saving. If there isnt anything enabled (like power saving mode) It would go to max 6 hours or 5.30 hours
I'm quite impressed with battery performance of flip5, I have been using it for a month now replacing my Iphone 13 pro as daily driver. since Iphone 13 pro battery is just meh

Not really surprised with the winner as the PPI in the Ultra is 50% higher than the Fold 5 inner display so that will eat a lot more battery.
As for the battery improvement with the Flip 5, probably not worth upgrading in most regions as it is not that impressive bearing in mind it will cost £600+ to upgrade if trading in your Flip 4 (UK).
I have never had an issue with the Fold 4 getting me through the day, so battery on the Fold 5 would not be a reason to upgrade (again £1100 to upgrade from F4 to F5 after trade-in).
Conclusion: if you have last gen foldable, then outside the UK, it is uneconomical to upgrade for what you are gaining.

I’ve the iPhone 13 and it’s simply amazing, the oled screen, fast processor, the battery life is one of the best ones among the 6.1 iPhones and it’s prob the most resistant, I watched it’s drop test and it didn’t crack at all in all of them and still have a lot of updates as well. I think I won’t change this phone so early I’m keeping it until it stops updating

What a weird 'Comparison'. You were using the outer screen on the Folds for large chunks of the test, which is a small screen and a much lower density. Aside from that, literally every other comparison has the S23U streets ahead in battery life.
A totally pointless and misleading video. I pity anyone who goes and drops £1600 on a Fold 5 thinking they're getting the best Samsung battery life based on this.
I mean it's not a bad thought. You're not gonna use the inner screen for everything.
Maybe the ratio should be adjusted of outer to inner screen usage but the idea still is solid
This is a pretty representative comparison of battery for real world use. A folding phones purpose is being able to use the outside or inside display. Most of the day ur going to use the outside display unless u want to watch content or have time to be on ur phone longer.
That flip 4 lasted about 20 min on 1%. My 3 year old s21 last about 20 seconds
