It’s a simple concept but sometimes people in the frag comm don’t realize how obscure some of these even “well known” niche fragrances really are in the real world. I reluctantly bought Layton because like Aventus I felt it was out of my age demographic but once I bought it & smelled it on my skin I just smiled & said, “It’s worth to put in the collection”!

2:25 soooo true. People tend to forget that theyre in a fragrance bubble and "normal" people just take it as a scent. But we immediatly get the imagine in our head "oh its this fragrance, the bottle looks like that, it costs X amount of money, its quite cheap, i wouldnt wear it blabla". I bought Layton, when I first got it it was pretty light and well blended over time it changed and grew very potent. Very woody and slightly sweet but primarily woody
For me i love layton its super versatile and here in england especially in birmingham were i live in the summer it aint that hot so i can wear it pretty much year round on super hot days which rarely happens unless i go to the seaside ill wear sedley instead. If someone wants 2 frags and thats it in their collection then get layton and sedley, layton perfect year round, good on dates cause of the compliment factor just dont spray more than 2 sprays amazing in the club and sedley for those hot summer days, gym and office safe and good for formal suit events. Still want to grab Layton but just want to grab a few fragrances before doing so. Lalique has a fragrance called White in Black that smells similar to Layton. I think it’s Lalique getting back at PDM for dropping Galloway which is reminiscent of Lalique White.
Wore Layton for the first time from my tester samples. Worked from home today. Wife absolutely loves it. She keeps coming by me to smell me. This stuff is legit.

I am a female who usually love sweet, creamy and decadent scents. This fragrance is one of my faves. I get so many compliments when I wear it. It definitely isn’t masculine on me.
Layton is my favorite of the 15 perfumes that I own and my primary party scent. Very high quality. Herod from PDM is great too, but for cold weather only. Not a fan of other PDMs.
Totally agree that usually people don't even know about PDM, i always mention to friends don't simply buy a bleu de chanel and use it on wedding dinner because on that kind of occasion people will use their most expensive perfume, and probably makes everyone smell the same. 😂😂😂😂
When imparting it to MFK baccarats scent trail and longevity it does not compare for some odd reason. How many sprays do you recommend? It fades almost immediately. Purchased from Norman Marcus
They say the new batch doesn’t smell the same. I bought a percival and apparently I bought an old batch and it smells great but they say all PDM got reformulated on 2021.
I recently got Layton because of all the good recommendations in the Community. I was very excited Cause everybody Said that it is a Apple Pie with Vanilla Kind of Scent. But when I tried it, it immediately reminded me of Amen Pure malt. Like to 75-80% similar. Does anybody else get that Same Vibe or is it just me? My excitement got down immediately because I did not expect for these 2 Scents to be so close to each other and because I already own Pure Malt for a few year…
I just blind bought Herod, Carlisle, and Habdan. Was gonna buy Layton too but swapped it out for Jazz Club by Replica since I heard Layton and Carlisle were similar. Hopefully I like them..been hearing good things about PDM.
Well idk on my skin it last about a few hours or so. Idk if its bc it was a tester or my skin chemistry bc I tried it out in Nordstrom at a mall in Torrance. Did a good 3-4 sprays on the back of my right hand. Around the 4-5 hrs mark it became a skin scent. Ppl say u pay for the longevity and if its that weak on me, I say overpriced and all ear for a better alternative :(

I get a headache during the first few hours after which it quickly becomes a skin scent. When smelling directly at the spot I sprayed, it smells somewhat similar with less of the warm spicyness. But the smell in the air is just unpleasant. I really hope the scent changes with time, but right now I’m just disappointed.

I get that it’s popular with men but it’s very beautiful on a woman as well. In fact I think it’s more traditionally female leaning fragrance. I know it’s subjective, and assigning genders to scents is stupid but if this was in some pink bottle from Lancome or Gucci I could see it having a mass appeal among women.

Layton is always worth it, even at retail. It’s that good. I remember it took me awhile to enjoy and appreciate its sweetness. Back up bottle worthy. It lit checks all the boxes that a good fragrance should have in my opinion. If you’re reading this, you should buy it.
yeah for sure . i got mine from fragrancebuyca for 180 USD and i’m kinda paranoid it’s 1. fake or 2. watered down. 180 USD is just almost too good to be true. next time i buy layton i won’t think twice about the 315 price tag for retail. Layton is one of the nicest from pdm but if it got in the ring with Habdan the referee would stop the fight, Habdan is ridiculous, in the pdm range I would put Layton a close second.

That’s one of the best scents I’ve ever smelt!!” Lasted all day huge complements and a P dropper like I’ve never seen. I owe you a beer or 2
My original batch that i blind-bought smells like it has a lot of Menthol in it and it's off-putting! What girl wants a man to smell like vapor-rub?? It's a turn-off as that mean's he's 'sick'.
I have never had a vapor rub smell with this fragrance. Maybe the menthol gets overpowering with your skin chemistry which is why it might not work on you
Not sure if it’s been mentioned in these comments. But ppl say the reformulated version of this (82% alcohol content) is less long-lasting and smells different than the original. I bought a bottle last month and have been disappointed with a certain synthetic quality of the smell and lack of performance. But maybe it just has to air out for a while
It‘s the other way around. Before mid 2021 „reformulation“ if you can even call it that there was 22% non-alcohol content, now it‘s 18%. But the change is so subtle you can‘t even notice. BUT since it‘s slightly (but like I said you don‘t even really notice it) more „chemical“ now it lasts a whole lot longer than before. I bought mine in December, love the smell and the performance is also beastly. Over 15h easily and even after 24h you can still smell it. Just use your bottle and it’ll evolve as time passes

@@smokehouse4444 smelled Layton a couple of years ago when it was 78% and I don‘t notice any difference to the Layton I have now. But also I have to say there‘s been a couple years, so I can‘t remember 100%. I can just tell you Layton now still smells amazing and I heard many people say, including me, that the Layton now is pretty beast mode. From personal experience I can confirm that Layton lasts well over 12 hours
@@philruttel5537 I appreciate the response. I am still mulling it over. I have a PDM sampler set that obviously has the newer version. I like Layton, and so does the wife, but I didn't particularly want to spend the bigger money if it didn't really resemble the original...which was what everybody loved. If I do keep it, I think I will spray it and leave the cap off for a long time to let it "evolve" (I have seen that suggestion)
Layton is my go to somewhat freshie fragrance during colder months, at least you’ll get a comment like “someone smells great in here”. Now can be had for around $150 on discounters.
K so I got a 10ml of Layton. It is a very good scent, but there is something bitter in there I don’t like at all. There’s no real bitter notes in there so I’m not sure where it comes from. I know now why some people think smells like Vicks Vaporub. Like I say, I really enjoy the scent, especially the dry down, but that initial sharp bitterness in there just ruins it a little for me. I definitely wouldn’t pay the price they’re asking for. I am intrigued about Layton Exclusive though…..suppose to be much better…
If you have a collection or you are not going to go to town with spray. You can join a few reputable Facebook groups. A couple times a month. Some members sell their partial bottle of Layton for much cheaper price. You can ask for photo of batch codes or find sellers that already sold many Fragrances if you are afraid of scam. It’s rarely happen. I just bought a half full 4 oz Dior Ambre Nuit for 100 dollars. I personally will not go through 4 oz bottle of fragrance. Especially not Layton. It’s a scent for some formal or business Casual to me.
@@spleenful Layton Exclusif uses a grassy cooking herb mixture in it as well as Pegasus Exclusive. It makes the frags a completely different scent! Never smelt anything like it in testing 500 quality frags. It's one of those aquired taste frags but i think its really good and i respect the dna, just didn't fall in love with it.
There is a chasm of difference between the frag community and everyone else. Honestly, 97% of people can't identify Drakkar Noir, let alone Layton. Most will love them both (I know *I* do).
PDM Layton is gloried Boss Bottled Intense!! not worth the money, if you like Layton, just buy Al Haramain Detour Noir, much cheaper and performs betters.
Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Layton. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 78%. The new formulation I see in stores has 82% alcohol. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Carlisle, Herod & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.

Exclusif is more up in your face accent wise. While Layton is just powerful without the loud.
Exclusif has coffee note in it 😁

It‘s the other way around. Before mid 2021 „reformulation“ if you can even call it that there was 22% non-alcohol content, now it‘s 18%. But the change is so subtle you can‘t even notice. BUT since it‘s slightly (but like I said you don‘t even really notice it) more „chemical“ now it lasts a whole lot longer than before. I bought mine in December, love the smell and the performance is also beastly. Over 15h easily and even after 24h you can still smell it. Just use your bottle and it’ll evolve as time passes
Also maybe worth a mention: I never use more than 2 sprays

I am considering sending it back. Your review gives me pause though, to possibly keep it. How much does it smell like the original 78%?
@@smokehouse4444 smelled Layton a couple of years ago when it was 78% and I don‘t notice any difference to the Layton I have now. But also I have to say there‘s been a couple years, so I can‘t remember 100%. I can just tell you Layton now still smells amazing and I heard many people say, including me, that the Layton now is pretty beast mode. From personal experience I can confirm that Layton lasts well over 12 hours
@@philruttel5537 I appreciate the response. I am still mulling it over. I have a PDM sampler set that obviously has the newer version. I like Layton, and so does the wife, but I didn't particularly want to spend the bigger money if it didn't really resemble the original...which was what everybody loved. If I do keep it, I think I will spray it and leave the cap off for a long time to let it "evolve" (I have seen that suggestion)
Layton is my go to somewhat freshie fragrance during colder months, at least you’ll get a comment like “someone smells great in here”. Now can be had for around $150 on discounters.

K so I got a 10ml of Layton. It is a very good scent, but there is something bitter in there I don’t like at all. There’s no real bitter notes in there so I’m not sure where it comes from. I know now why some people think smells like Vicks Vaporub. Like I say, I really enjoy the scent, especially the dry down, but that initial sharp bitterness in there just ruins it a little for me. I definitely wouldn’t pay the price they’re asking for. I am intrigued about Layton Exclusive though…..suppose to be much better…
If you have a collection or you are not going to go to town with spray. You can join a few reputable Facebook groups. A couple times a month. Some members sell their partial bottle of Layton for much cheaper price. You can ask for photo of batch codes or find sellers that already sold many Fragrances if you are afraid of scam. It’s rarely happen. I just bought a half full 4 oz Dior Ambre Nuit for 100 dollars. I personally will not go through 4 oz bottle of fragrance. Especially not Layton. It’s a scent for some formal or business Casual to me.
I love Layton, but Layton Exclusif is different and the worst ever.. Don't buy without sampling first

@@spleenful Layton Exclusif uses a grassy cooking herb mixture in it as well as Pegasus Exclusive. It makes the frags a completely different scent! Never smelt anything like it in testing 500 quality frags. It's one of those aquired taste frags but i think its really good and i respect the dna, just didn't fall in love with it.
The Exclusif is definitely a darker take that I don’t find as versatile as the og, but nonetheless it’s still nice :)

Not gay, but I am not that masculine type of guy. I would recommend this for gay people for sure. It's unisex slightly more leaning towards to men.
Cedrat Boise has gotten me compliments from lots of both men and women. $80-100USD range on most discounters

PDM Layton is gloried Boss Bottled Intense!! not worth the money, if you like Layton, just buy Al Haramain Detour Noir, much cheaper and performs betters.
Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Layton. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 78%. The new formulation I see in stores has 82% alcohol. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Carlisle, Herod & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.

I bought a 125 ml bottle 2 years ago and at the 1st spray it was a blast of Apple and spicy notes. And Then nothing... Nothing special. It didn't Last all Day long. And also i only got 2 compliments about layton after 2y of wearing it! 😢😢😢😢😢😢
