FYI you don't always need compliments while wearing a fragrance to know that the fragrance is good or working. If you open your eyes and observe what is happening around you, then you will know your fragrance is working even if folks don't compliment you. People will start treating you nice, helping you, people may start checking you out or giving you the eyes, and even doors may open you would not expect. All because you smell so good. I have gotten that vibe when I have worn a fragrance like Creed Aventus out before. There are women's eyes that may roll back or their body language may change. People's reactions around you says a lot even if they don't compliment your fragrance. It could be as simple as a smile.

Personally, I do not get a positive impression of someone when they wear perfume or cologne. To me, it makes me feel like they are trying too hard or don’t feel confident without putting a smell on themselves. I would rather smell someone’s natural scent, as it’s a huge part of whether or not there is any chemistry between us. Also, it’s not the fragrances that are sexy. Sexy people are sexy, and it has so much more to do with other factors than a perfume or cologne they are wearing. Assuming they smell decent (i.e. nice smelling shampoo) and are clean, there’s no need for perfume or cologne.
Spot of Melissa. People need to prioritize their social skills first, having confidence and charisma, being approachable, holding your own in a conversation while being a good listener is priceless. Also taking care of your fitness, your haircut, skincare and outfits will all be more important than your fragrance - that should be the cherry on top. If you’re awkward and don’t look out together, don’t be surprised if no one gets close enough to smell your scent.

I dont feel like wearing perfume for attention. I wear perfume because I feel good and confident with it. I wear strong perfume because I kinda have a strong personality. I dont care if that specific perfume smells good to other people i just want to wear it because i love it. And i feel confident wearing it. I want my perfume to express my identity and intentions. Thats why i classify my perfume in certain occassions

Look... all i'm saying is wear what YOU like and not make compliments from others such a big deal. Hell I actually DO get compliments. Are they nice to receive? Sure! Was that my main motivation for purchasing/wearing the fragrance though? No. People get caught up in the "compliment monster" thing and make purchases based solely on that and feel some type of way when others aren't praising their scent trail. Being approachable is the key to receiving compliments because it is scary to strike a conversation someone who looks angry or irritated or whatever. If someone has an open body language then I might ask them what perfume they are wearing.

I once oversprayed Layton and went to dinner with friends. One of them recently revealed to me that it was overwhelming and she was not enjoying it. On the other hand, I have recieved a lot of compliments while wearing it outside and to the city and frankly I think it's all about wearing the fragrance suitable for the occasion and in proper amounts and ppl will notice and compliment you on it if you're approachable :)

I assume that beautiful people get compliments on their fragrance in a social setting because it’s an easy opening. Since I’m an average looking grandma I never really expected to get compliments on my fragrances but I do! For me personally I wear what I like and it makes me feel good. And I think that feeling good about myself is what makes me approachable. And the fact that I’m not looking for compliments. I’m usually shopping actually. 🤣 It’s always a great feeling to get compliments but honestly the scents themselves make me so happy that I’m fine without any feedback.
Another thing to keep in mind is where the guy with the naxos perfume is coming from. It always seems like you guys in the US get a lot more compliments from strangers while in Germany for example the people are more hesitant to approach a stranger on the street and give them a compliment. (at least that's my experience) But yeah I agree with everyone else in the comments. Wear what you like and don't think about if the fragrance will give you any compliments.
Let’s put this into their perspective, would you compliment someone you don’t know or feel comfortable with? Most compliments come from friends and family members, you just can’t expect people to randomly give you compliments. The only times you will get a compliment from a stranger is when they actually like the fragrance and want to buy it for themselves.
Just approach people, greet them, offer a handshake, compliment them and they'll compliment you . But at 6 sprays of naxos is just headache inducing let alone 10 😅 3 sprays of naxos is more than enough. 1 or 2 sprays is fantastic for layering 👌👌👌
I remember when I wore Hawas (a fragrance I love) one day and got a shit ton of compliments. I got a pretty wild complement and made the mistake of telling the frag group that I was in about the experience. A lot of them went and bought Hawas. Spot on with your assessment. So many people watch UA-cam fragrance reviewers and get hyped off of their descriptions. Hell, I do it depending on the reviewer. But if you have a novice nose, or your mannerisms are not equal to the fragrance you purchased, you won’t get the expected outcome. Hell, most of those people pronounce the “L” in “Sillage”.
Being from Bosnia, that comment about checking the weather in Bosnia really made me laugh 😂 Anyway... What made me giggle with joy recently was getting compliments from my students. I'm a highschool teacher and I wore Frosted Coconut Snowball from BBW few days in a row. Not a single day passed without a compliment from the girls in my class. They literally told me things like - teacher, you smell amazing... What's that vanilla and coconut smell, it's delicious, etc. I even felt like a teen movie character in one situation when I walked by some students in the hall, and heard them whispering like she smells so good, lol. On the other hand, I noticed that some ppl don't really like being complimented on their fragrance. As weird as it sounds, it's almost as if it's too intimate for them to talk about it and mentioning it feels like invading their personal space. So there were a couple of times when I regretted saying it.
This, fucking this and can't stress it enough. If women are lingering and going in your personal space, that's a compliment in itself. Together with having great vibe and social skills, your fragrance will just be the cherry on top of your game.
Folks act like fragrances are like some magical antidote lol you have to do some ground work for reactions too. Dress better, be more outgoing and likeable. Build up your confidence. And most importantly, don’t overspray and choke people out 💯
The other day I got the biggest compliment ever...I crossed paths with a customer at my job ...she came back to my department 2 minutes after asking everyone for the guy with the beard...we all thought she had a complaint, but no that wasn't the case, she approached me and told me " I didn't wanna screamed at u cause u were walking so fast, I just wanna tell u that u smell soooo amazing "...the crazy thing is I don't like the perfume🤷♂️.. it was a sample of "paragon" by initio ... great compliment, but the fact that I don't like it , it's a pass for me #wearwhatyoulike
I got a sample bottle of naxos and loved it. I was not around many ppl but noticed my sillage in the car ;) The scent had crazy longevity too. I think 2 sprays does the trick for me personally. I have Oud Wood and blasted like 15 sprays. Oud for Greatness needed 3 sprays.
I often get a compliment on things that aren’t my personal favorite. Good advice to wear what you like. I will say my last was from LV Meteor. I know you like that one 😁
Fragrance is a garnish on the plate of your overall presentation. It won't replace a personality, and it won't outweigh poor manners, poor hygiene, and not being approachable.
I wore my BR540 dupe out on new years eve for the first time and i got 3 separate compliments. Using the technique to apply it on back of my shoulders. So I am super happy with my choice, I am nose blind (apparently common as the ambroxan molecule is large and blocks our sniffers) to it but get the occasional waft and its perfect ♡ your videos helped me find my one! I will be honest, sometimes I struggle with validation so even though I like to smell good for myself it makes me feel good whenever I receive a compliment on my cologne. I usually wear my colognes at work and at first I was getting many compliments from my coworkers and sometimes even customers. But now it's rare someone will compliment me. I don't know if I'm over or under spraying (I'll watch your video on that). Or if people are just over it. I have a pretty sizable collection (around 50 bottles). So it's possible some of the colognes I've worn recently just don't perform that well.
I’m currently in Japan. It’s harder for me to get a complement from a bar or a club here because they allow smoking in their establishments. The smoke kinda blocks my scent. And I do get most of my compliments from restaurants.
Funny this video is helpful - I wear a white coat - I wear 1-2 sprays max BDK or Delina Exclusif etc good but I never get compliments- or hit on- and I think it’s bc it would not be appropriate for a colleague to say something - so I think it’s the setting -

This is the one thing I hate about the tik tok frag community. As a frag head myself. You basically hit everything on the nail, as a person you have to be approachable or at least groomed in a certain way. One things for sure is that I hate when people blind buy niche colognes especially the tik tok community that hyped up niche fragrances and basically tells other to blind buy them, when in reality sometimes even the niche colognes themselves WILL OUT WEAR THE USER! You have to look the part when you’re wearing certain fragrances. Another thing is that you have to buy what you like and wear what you like don’t be following these are the best compliment getter etc,.. everyone’s skin chemistry is different so that’s that.

I wouldn't be completely sure this person was being anti-social and/or on their phone during the parties. It's possible, but you never know. That being said, I heavily sprayed Kilian Angels' Share to the last party I went to and got several compliments. But I'm pretty social and I was talking to everyone like I usually do at parties. I'm defintiely the guy that owns being an oversprayer. Still waiting for my first compliment from a random stranger though.
It's not just the fragrance that makes a difference, It can also be your diet. Depending on what you eat you can sweat nice odours or nasty odours and this can have an effect on the fragrances smell off your body.
Shiiiiid I wish I had the money to buy Naxos. But for now my loud and proud fragrance is Rasasi Shuhrah. I love this non-compliment getter. It didn't even work with one spray funny enough. You really have to wear powerhouse fragrances like you mean it. Makes a world of a difference, compliments or not. But also yes, it takes finesse and consideration for others to wear these, too. For nuclear bois like Shuhrah, five sprays is pushing it, more than 2 on clothes is overkill. If you super overspray these you'll be lucky if people stay silent instead of cussing you out.

Bleu De Chanel - No compliments Sauvage- No compliments Versace Eau Fraiche - No compliments Club de Nuit Milestone - Tons of compliments CDNIM - Tons of compliments Dior Homme - No Compliments Cedrat Boise - Average Compliments Something about the Milestone/Milesime Imperial DNA and my ‘image’ just garner huge compliments for me. I’m quite laid back and live in a hot climate so I think all those play a role.
I love Dunhill Icon for myself but it never garners compliments for me. Milestone wasn’t always my favorite fragrance but the compliments it garners just made me appreciate it more. I think it must I smell very unique in the dry heat air. I love Cedrat Boise and it gets me a few “you smell nice” compliments (to be fair I’ve only worn it a handful of times). Sauvage doesn’t get me compliments, and I personally don’t like it too much. CDNIM gets me huge compliments, especially on nights out. I once had a much older woman pull me close to her, tell me I smell good, and give me a kiss on my neck.

I think it also has to do with which country you live in? Worrying about compliments or trying to get a reaction rooted in sex while wearing fragrances is corny. UA-cam fragrance reviewers have made this corny behavior acceptable when really it’s all about your charisma & keeping yourself well kept. Fragrances are just the extra confetti once you already have the icing on the cake.
People pay attention to stuff online too much. I have seen raving reviews online and irl for Chanel #5 and I think it smells disgusting on its first spray and it’s dry down. If I was to buy that fragrance and wear it all the time cause other people liked it I probably wouldn’t get the compliments I expect cause it’s not my scent period. I wear vanilla incense from what atelier cologne and found it in 8th grade on accident and have worn it ever since (I mix it up sometimes but that’s always in my cabinet) and I have seen on here that the projection is like average to non existent and that it’s an average perfume overall. I get compliments on it all the time still and people say “it’s YOUR smell”. While I like online perfume reviews I base it off of notes I already like and my own fragrance experiences. Don’t JUST blind buy because someone else likes it.
On oud I tried Oud Abramad by BDK. Wow! This oud is insane good. I saw you like saphron and its in it. It is a touch sweet. Also Gris De Charnel is so lovely a warm soft spice. Every stage is so good

Everytime I read bad reviews about a fragrance's "performance", I automatically imagine he wears socks with sandals and has BO. For that crowd: Why should anyone smell you from across the room? LNDL gets bashed by dudebros and neckbeards that blind buy but I always got compliments when I wore it as a sales clerk. Calvin Klein Man, which is one my favorite senses, and got hella compliments because I wore it like it was a Tom Ford or a Intito fragrance. Since I’m an average looking grandma I never really expected to get compliments on my fragrances but I do! For me personally I wear what I like and it makes me feel good. And I think that feeling good about myself is what makes me approachable. And the fact that I’m not looking for compliments. I’m usually shopping actually. 🤣
It’s always a great feeling to get compliments but honestly the scents themselves make me so happy that I’m fine without any feedback.
Another thing to keep in mind is where the guy with the naxos perfume is coming from. It always seems like you guys in the US get a lot more compliments from strangers while in Germany for example the people are more hesitant to approach a stranger on the street and give them a compliment. (at least that's my experience)
But yeah I agree with everyone else in the comments. Wear what you like and don't think about if the fragrance will give you any compliments.

I remember when I wore Hawas (a fragrance I love) one day and got a shit ton of compliments. I got a pretty wild complement and made the mistake of telling the frag group that I was in about the experience. A lot of them went and bought Hawas. Then they came back to the group angry because they didn’t get compliments and called me a liar lmao

Spot on with your assessment. So many people watch UA-cam fragrance reviewers and get hyped off of their descriptions. Hell, I do it depending on the reviewer. But if you have a novice nose, or your mannerisms are not equal to the fragrance you purchased, you won’t get the expected outcome. Hell, most of those people pronounce the “L” in “Sillage”.

Anyway... What made me giggle with joy recently was getting compliments from my students. I'm a highschool teacher and I wore Frosted Coconut Snowball from BBW few days in a row. Not a single day passed without a compliment from the girls in my class. They literally told me things like - teacher, you smell amazing... What's that vanilla and coconut smell, it's delicious, etc.
I even felt like a teen movie character in one situation when I walked by some students in the hall, and heard them whispering like she smells so good, lol.
On the other hand, I noticed that some ppl don't really like being complimented on their fragrance. As weird as it sounds, it's almost as if it's too intimate for them to talk about it and mentioning it feels like invading their personal space. So there were a couple of times when I regretted saying it.

This, fucking this and can't stress it enough. If women are lingering and going in your personal space, that's a compliment in itself. Together with having great vibe and social skills, your fragrance will just be the cherry on top of your game.
Folks act like fragrances are like some magical antidote lol you have to do some ground work for reactions too. Dress better, be more outgoing and likeable. Build up your confidence. And most importantly, don’t overspray and choke people out 💯

The other day I got the biggest compliment ever...I crossed paths with a customer at my job ...she came back to my department 2 minutes after asking everyone for the guy with the beard...we all thought she had a complaint, but no that wasn't the case, she approached me and told me " I didn't wanna screamed at u cause u were walking so fast, I just wanna tell u that u smell soooo amazing "...the crazy thing is I don't like the perfume🤷♂️.. it was a sample of "paragon" by initio ... great compliment, but the fact that I don't like it , it's a pass for me #wearwhatyoulike

I got a sample bottle of naxos and loved it. I was not around many ppl but noticed my sillage in the car ;) The scent had crazy longevity too. I think 2 sprays does the trick for me personally. I have Oud Wood and blasted like 15 sprays. Oud for Greatness needed 3 sprays.

I wore my BR540 dupe out on new years eve for the first time and i got 3 separate compliments. Using the technique to apply it on back of my shoulders. So I am super happy with my choice, I am nose blind (apparently common as the ambroxan molecule is large and blocks our sniffers) to it but get the occasional waft and its perfect ♡ your videos helped me find my one! I will be honest, sometimes I struggle with validation so even though I like to smell good for myself it makes me feel good whenever I receive a compliment on my cologne. I usually wear my colognes at work and at first I was getting many compliments from my coworkers and sometimes even customers. But now it's rare someone will compliment me. I don't know if I'm over or under spraying (I'll watch your video on that). Or if people are just over it. I have a pretty sizable collection (around 50 bottles). So it's possible some of the colognes I've worn recently just don't perform that well.
I’m currently in Japan. It’s harder for me to get a complement from a bar or a club here because they allow smoking in their establishments. The smoke kinda blocks my scent. And I do get most of my compliments from restaurants.
Funny this video is helpful - I wear a white coat - I wear 1-2 sprays max BDK or Delina Exclusif etc good but I never get compliments- or hit on- and I think it’s bc it would not be appropriate for a colleague to say something - so I think it’s the setting -
my whole thing about fragrances is it should be the cherry on top of your charm, like you have to be somewhat charming yourself. if you want pure compliments, be charismatic, and wear mass appealing fragraces.
This is the one thing I hate about the tik tok frag community. As a frag head myself. You basically hit everything on the nail, as a person you have to be approachable or at least groomed in a certain way. One things for sure is that I hate when people blind buy niche colognes especially the tik tok community that hyped up niche fragrances and basically tells other to blind buy them, when in reality sometimes even the niche colognes themselves WILL OUT WEAR THE USER! You have to look the part when you’re wearing certain fragrances. Another thing is that you have to buy what you like and wear what you like don’t be following these are the best compliment getter etc,.. everyone’s skin chemistry is different so that’s that.
I don’t think it’s the Tiktok frag community. This mindset comes from loads of people regardless of what app they consume content on. It’s an itch to feel desired

I wouldn't be completely sure this person was being anti-social and/or on their phone during the parties. It's possible, but you never know. That being said, I heavily sprayed Kilian Angels' Share to the last party I went to and got several compliments. But I'm pretty social and I was talking to everyone like I usually do at parties. I'm defintiely the guy that owns being an oversprayer. Still waiting for my first compliment from a random stranger though.

Shiiiiid I wish I had the money to buy Naxos. But for now my loud and proud fragrance is Rasasi Shuhrah. I love this non-compliment getter. It didn't even work with one spray funny enough. You really have to wear powerhouse fragrances like you mean it. Makes a world of a difference, compliments or not. But also yes, it takes finesse and consideration for others to wear these, too. For nuclear bois like Shuhrah, five sprays is pushing it, more than 2 on clothes is overkill. If you super overspray these you'll be lucky if people stay silent instead of cussing you out.

yeah I dont really understand how everyone is obsessed with compliments regarding fragrances. To me it sounds like small children wanting a toy. Just wear a fragrance if you like it and thats it. So simple
I have to be honest here. I can go down the self-pious route and say I only wear fragrances for myself but when I wear "mass appealing" fragrances and I don't get compliments, it makes me curious. Of course I bought the fragrance because I like it but compliments, from strangers especially, positively affirms that I made a good choice.

Something about the Milestone/Milesime Imperial DNA and my ‘image’ just garner huge compliments for me. I’m quite laid back and live in a hot climate so I think all those play a role.
I love Dunhill Icon for myself but it never garners compliments for me. Milestone wasn’t always my favorite fragrance but the compliments it garners just made me appreciate it more. I think it must I smell very unique in the dry heat air.
I love Cedrat Boise and it gets me a few “you smell nice” compliments (to be fair I’ve only worn it a handful of times).
Sauvage doesn’t get me compliments, and I personally don’t like it too much.
CDNIM gets me huge compliments, especially on nights out. I once had a much older woman pull me close to her, tell me I smell good, and give me a kiss on my neck.

Worrying about compliments or trying to get a reaction rooted in sex while wearing fragrances is corny. UA-cam fragrance reviewers have made this corny behavior acceptable when really it’s all about your charisma & keeping yourself well kept. Fragrances are just the extra confetti once you already have the icing on the cake.

People pay attention to stuff online too much. I have seen raving reviews online and irl for Chanel #5 and I think it smells disgusting on its first spray and it’s dry down. If I was to buy that fragrance and wear it all the time cause other people liked it I probably wouldn’t get the compliments I expect cause it’s not my scent period. I wear vanilla incense from what atelier cologne and found it in 8th grade on accident and have worn it ever since (I mix it up sometimes but that’s always in my cabinet) and I have seen on here that the projection is like average to non existent and that it’s an average perfume overall. I get compliments on it all the time still and people say “it’s YOUR smell”. While I like online perfume reviews I base it off of notes I already like and my own fragrance experiences. Don’t JUST blind buy because someone else likes it.

On oud I tried Oud Abramad by BDK. Wow! This oud is insane good. I saw you like saphron and its in it. It is a touch sweet. Also Gris De Charnel is so lovely a warm soft spice. Every stage is so good

So pretty much what Melissa is saying is don’t buy and use fragrances to impress people or get people attention because people see and sense that you are trying too hard to impress them and get them attention and it’s a turn off. Buy things that you like not because it’s popular or you see everyone is wearing it or have it don’t do that and if you gonna buy something or fragrances you should buy it because YOU like it because it’s suits YOU.

You could be friendly and approachable. You could be dressed well. But you still may not get compliments all because you’re the wrong age. It would be very rare for a good looking 21 year old girl to run up to a 60 year old man that she doesn’t even know and compliment him. The older you are the less compliments you will get. If you’re age 15 - 30 and good looking, then the more compliments you will get.

Everytime I read bad reviews about a fragrance's "performance", I automatically imagine he wears socks with sandals and has BO. For that crowd: Why should anyone smell you from across the room? Why aren't you approaching the person of interest and introducing yourself? Even the faintest perfumes can be felt at arms length. Perfume is an accessory to nice clothes and good manners. LNDL gets bashed by dudebros and neckbeards that blind buy but I always got compliments when I wore it as a sales clerk. A lady once told me she always looks for my lane to ring her groceries up because I was very nice and smelled great. Sadly there are too many negative youtube influencers out there trying to sell people on hype. It's the grossest thing when someone is wearing too much perfume. It's the equivalent to BO. Both make me gag. Curly Scents told people to spray LNDL 34 times. Last time I smelled LNDL on someone, I smelled him from six feet away. His shirt looked felt drenched in it. He was overweight, a mouth breather, had BO, and was wearing socks with sandals. It was so awful.
