Discord is filled with scammers and recently there has been a surge of scams around the NFT space. People advertise a Discord server and the scammers are looking for a "paid moderator / collaboration manager / community manager position".
But before you can reject humanity and live inside for the rest of your life, you get hit with a discord verification system. Now this isn't anything particularly new but it's disappointing to see how Discord trust and safety deals with these scammers.

Honestly, I'm still surprised that discord, one of the worlds biggest chat applications, didn't even "finish" the new report system, so now scams are a lot harder to be taken down. Instead, they are just adding a domain connection into ur profile, making scams a lot easier, and verifying scam bots.
What are they doing??????!

They want all of the scams on their platform, it makes people talk about discord. which end up giving them a lot of publiciity

A few months ago they made a change to the terms of service that states that you cannot sue them anymore, so now that most people have agreed to those terms, they can start putting their users in danger and ruining the safety of discord users since they can no longer be sued

Discord feels like a college student's final program project that just barely passed but somehow became an actual app with zero changes to the program.

Good thing they removed trust & safety so you can't really even report the scammer properly only using the report button in discord that basically is entirely useles.. Good going discord.

They removed trust & safety? Don't know what I expected. I tried using it to report someone for threatening to dox me, and after 3-4 months they've still done nothing because I "didn't have the message link" and they "couldn't accept attachments" but they wanted to "reassure me that it was a high priority for them to look into these things" in spite of all that. And for the record, I _couldn't_ get the message link, because not only was I kicked out of the group chat where this happened, but the messages were nearly immediately _deleted_ while giving me just barely enough time to see them. Discord's report system is just incredibly flawed to begin with. I love the app itself, but the moderation is HOT GARBAGE.

I also like how you cant report any users to discord via support. The only option is a "report message" button, but good luck doing that if you're banned.
I once sent a user ID, guild ID and a plenty of screenshots of a scam user to discord supp with a request to at least look into the user, but got response "we can't and won't do anything, use report message button" (which frankly enough i can't do since I'm not in the guild anymore).
Feels like they just don't want to deal with that anymore. I bet even gpt would do better job at moderation, despite it being gullible and barely functional

It's cause they're outsourced. They don't even know half of what discord is. Actual support teams cost a lot more money and discord is too scummy to spend money.

I still don't know why they don't just make it harder for bots to get verified, that would save a lot of people, or even have the option to report servers, not the report raid, but report servers for phishing
When I created my discord bot (a while ago), and it was time to verify it so that more people could add my bot to their server, Discord told me that they would never verify my bot because the growth was "inorganic". In fact, we'd done an advert on Tiktok that went down well, but they get verified without a hitch. Since then, the project has died (thanks to Discord), but I wonder how this is possible.

@@pizzabossxd Not sure if related, but not only is their support horrible, it is also horribly outdated. In short: I used to have an account with 2FA lock set up, one day lost access to code generation app and didn't have backup codes.. I had ALL the proof for proving the account was mine otherwise but all they did was tell me that I needed the recovery codes or make new account. Ended up actually creating new account in the end. Losing friends, history of good times with people I knew and time spent on the servers I enjoyed...

Would be cool if Discord added a feature you can disable or enable where instead of just showing the link, it also previews the website.
Yea it can be avoided by just having 2 websites and the first only redirecting, or abused to show porn or something but could be useful for spotting malicious websites before even visiting them

I personally got hacked by this. One of my old friends sent me the link, so I didn’t think twice. Got banned in a ton of severs.
Im starting to think discord subtly supports scams.
Never scan QR codes! That is a well publicized scam.
Servers that pay moderators (I have one) don't tolerate people who think they get paid for doing nothing.
For the verified bot, tbh I really don't know how they did that, my bot was flagged for "inorganic growth" because someone added the bot to 10 servers he own lol

I tried to report a server that is used for targeted harassment and organised bullying. Discord basically responded saying “sorry. You can’t report here. You have to right click a specific message in the server and report it”
The ironic thing is that Discord bans the victims more than the servers.
I was, on the 10th of February, a victim of this server. But don't worry, I delt with it straight away by changing my password. I am honestly disgusted.
Also I've taken down the server by reporting it to Discord and the phishing website by reporting it to the registrar.
Good video and i understand getting the bag but... maybe perhaps try and find different sponsorships? everywhere i looked talking about gaurdio that isn't sponsored, it talked about it negatively so just a heads up if you (somehow) don't know.

Remember seeing one of these bots in a discord server I was in (god damn, there were 30 people in it) I'm pretty sure some people gone in the servers
once 2 of my friends got hacked by the owner of this server called “Creepz NFT Group” I joined it because i didnt see the name, but i realized the name was a lil fishy and thought that it was weird. They just said “Get in!” and then the discord invite. My friend JR_VR got his account back, but, my friend Dessarted didnt. He luckily has a new account now but that doesnt matter. I later found out that theyve been changing the server name to avoid termination. Now it’s the “ONE PERCENT GROUP” but they probably either got terminated by now or they changed the name again. By the way, last time I checked they had *17 THOUSAND MEMBERS* . stay safe, Also they also make the hacked bot accounts say “join i got 5 invites left” or something close to that. So, be careful.

Thanks! This just happened to me alittle while ago but not with discord but from a job which got my phone number from an actual government website I uploaded a resume to. I sensed some slight fishyness but there was a site, an app and I even had an interview on Microsoft MyTeams for 2 hours! So long story short I ended up getting Aura because some of my info leaked which is what brought me here cause its hard for me to trust anything BOTS included lol I might have to get this defense too. Thanks for the vid its easy to say it cant happen to you until it happened to you..

Hello, NoTextToSpeech! It appears that verified Discord bots now have the ability to change their usernames (name#0000) if the chosen name doesn't violate any copyright restrictions. I can confirm this because I recently changed the username of my verified bot, NinjaBot.
‘A f*ckup and a half’ would be the understatement of the century, if not the millennium. What the actual hell is wrong with Discord right now? A moderator for a 100 person server could figure this sh*t out.
You can act like a bot on discord with a specific launcher, get the verified bot tag but u can controll the account

hey have you seen the "i'm a illustrator/artist etc" scammers recently? they go into your live and spam the same message they send to all the others. their art is stolen, they go into your discord and spam the message in dms to everyone in the server trying to scam them.

I have a friend that's trying to get 1k members in his server and he's having a hard time doing so, however these scam servers get +5k members by actually... well, scamming people, guess people prefers to get scammed rather than being on a normal server...
