The thru hull direction is correct. If the tru hull was faced the other way if would force water up into the engine and into the exhaust. The exhaust would fill up and allow water to get through the exhaust valves and destroy the engine. As to the propeller ? Where is the cotter pin ?
Found it on Craigslist. It needed to be completely rebuilt. New axles, wheels, fenders, wiring. Paid 600 for it and probably put another 1000 into it. We have a video on it with more details if you are interested. It was definitely a lucky find.
The cut-aways are hilarious. My apologies if that was intended to be serious but I gather you guys have a good sense of humour. Keep up the great work!!
The inlet is placed correctly, because of the venturi effect it works best with the opening facing aft. I'm not an English speaker, so I hope I am using the right words!
2.5 gallons? Guess you can't stay at an anchorage very long unless you want to have your stuff floating around you and your neighbors. Is that a problem or does it happen all the time? Saw the Uma episode and thought it was a bad idea.
That boat was originally a cutter wasn't it? It would sail better if you put the bowsprit back on and had both headsails. Is the boat balanced under sail or is it turning upwind hard?
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable season of sailing, with her racing trim. Looking forward to the interior fit out. I guess having sailed her you will have a better idea what needs to be where
Your decisions are your own and I respect that ... However, consider doing a larger holding tank if by chance you get caught somewhere and have a full tank and nowhere to "go". Betting you could find something that is somewhat flat that would suit. Again up to you... All I know is "every" full holding tank experience I had NEVER worked out well.....
Glad to see you back. I saw you all working on the boat at WaterGate when I was down last month. I guess you moved it shortly after. If you ever come by the marina I am on Pier 1 Slip 12. Stop and have a cold one. I am retiring next month.
You still haven't told me the name of the song... I used Shazam and it gave me some crazy guy using the song as a backdrop for his horrible drunk singing.. Bizarre!
Having owned a sister ship like yours It is nice to see what you have done my wife and I loved how the boat sailed, very balanced and the rails loved to be in the water! What I think is really bad ass is the shed in which you are able to work inside and the trailer to transport it.. For me the boat was a little too small for the kind of cruising I did but it is an excellent vessel and should take where you want to go safely and bring you home.
Thanks! We definitely put the rails in the water a few times! Yeah, the shop has made all the difference with the rebuild. Thankfully my old man hasn’t kicked me out yet!
Glad to see you back. What’s ur time frame for trip? I’m departing Waterford mid/late March for Ms gulf coast. Depending on weather not sure if I’ll go offshore or the ditch.
Will gravity work when emptying the toilet holding tank to a sea cock below the water line. I would think the sea water pressure would fight the gravity trying to empty the tank.
My understanding is that it will always drain down to the level of the waterline. So there will always be some liquid in the length of hose from the thruhull to the base of the tank which is at the waterline.
I just googled it . . . Which propeller nut goes on first? The half nut, also referred to as a jam nut, needs to go on first, against the propeller, followed by the larger nut.
Yeah. I mean its not finished finished. Still have some trim and other work left. I started a channel for the house build a while back if you'd like to follow along. ua-cam.com/video/WAGp97SUSyw/v-deo.html
I’m not sure how far off shore you are going ? If someone installed windows in my boat like you have done with no fasteners I would fire them. The windows you installed “ with no fasteners “ are destined to fall off if you get yourself in any type of serious weather.
The original glass windows were also installed with no fasteners. They were sandwiched in-between two pieces of thin teak trim and caulking. So the interior trim piece was really the only thing supporting the window. In my opinion this method is way stronger because the window is adhered to and supported by the outside of the cabin so if we were to take a wave over the side we're not relying on a piece of trim to keep the window from busting in. Isn't this also the way most windows are installed on modern boats?
The intake is facing the right way, it is a sailboat. It is not a scoop, it is an intake

Bout time, i thought you stayed in 2019 lol
I would love to know where you found that trailer or if you built it?

Great work and great watch during Covid lockdown .... all the best for the future Daz UK

I hadn't heard that before. Glad I did it right. Thanks!

Back to work on the boat! My boat has a small tank for appearance only as well. Houston here too BTW.
window ,its not a window in a boat ,annyway bjutyfull boat it is ,see you in caribien one day,,

Ok someone help me out here, what's the gravity pull have to do with the sea level? Or as he called it "the water line"
Glad to see you back.
Best wishes for the coming year.
Sea strainer direction is correct! If turned the other way forward motion of the boat sailing may force sea water into the engine block.

Great to see a new Vid
Great job I look forward to seeing your other improvements. Keep livin' the dream
Welcome back. Looking forward the new videos.
I really appreciate the content guys. You do a great job. Curious how many takes/Pacificos it took before you got that perfect bottle cap shot.... ;-P
Thanks man! It only took one take and one pacifco. We've had a lot of practice though.

So cool! Congrats on retiring. next time I’m in watergate I will swing by.

That is weird! This the one you're looking for?

First
so lol
It’s great seeing an update! I really appreciate the content a lot. It helps motivates me to keep my eye on the boat prize. Keep it coming!!
Your prop nuts were on wrong the small one goes first then the large one yea I know it seems backwards but that’s how they go on props
Thanks. I guess I’ll swap them around.
Looking better and better

Beautiful boat
glad to see you back!
Glad to see you back. Very nice project. I enjoy the great videos. Fair winds ~
Sailing Uma inspired head 🤔, they had to make a special explanation video with clickbait thumbnail after that.
I see what you did there...there was a lot of funny stuff in this video, nice work.
Appreciate the updates, always glad to see new AiilBros video is up.
Great vid guys, thanks for the update.
It's looking great so far, have fun finishing off the finer details.
Glad to see you back. What’s ur time frame for trip? I’m departing Waterford mid/late March for Ms gulf coast. Depending on weather not sure if I’ll go offshore or the ditch.
Not sure yet. Will be going to highway though. Thanks for watching!
Have you narrowed down where your trip might be? Florida coast might be nice but I've never been in that part of the world.
Florida for sure. Hopefully the Keys.

Try an induction cooktop...check out on SV Delos. With Lithium Diode Batteries. And a convection oven.
I don't have that celebrity UA-camr money like delos. Can't afford lithium
@@SailBros LOL, 1k each, 6 volt golf cart batteries wired in series work fine.
Good to see you back. how are your windows holding out , any leaks? I have a wooden top myself. good luck.
No problems at all. Still seem adhered well and no signs of issues with the caulking
Good to hear. Thanks
Awesome! Next time can you give us an update on how the finish you used on the wood held up?
I will give an update in the next one.
someone indicated to me that the thin nut should be toward the prop with the fat nut outside. I had mine set up like yours. Anybody have any input?
I just googled it . . . Which propeller nut goes on first?
The half nut, also referred to as a jam nut, needs to go on first, against the propeller, followed by the larger nut.
Thanks for the info. Will definitely be getting that sorted out before we go back in the water
Sweet
Nice... So did you finish your house build?
Yeah. I mean its not finished finished. Still have some trim and other work left. I started a channel for the house build a while back if you'd like to follow along. ua-cam.com/video/WAGp97SUSyw/v-deo.html
@@SailBros That house turned out very nice... And congratulations on the fact that your boys can swim.. ua-cam.com/video/TjrctcuQPY0/v-deo.html
