Great episode. We went to the oldest cave two weeks ago, we drove past the camp site at Yarrangobilly, there were a few vans, surrounded by snow that fell during the night.
Gday guys, great to see you lapping it all up in the High Country "our back yard" as we live in Albury Not sure if you realise how lucky you are to have seen and even better film the elusive, famous "Lyre Bird" often heard but rarely seen. As as family of mum dad and four kids 4WDing and camping in our Nissan Patrols, we've traveled and explored much of the Alpine regions over the last twenty five years and only managed a few short glimpses of this most amazing Australian legend of mimicry. I've only recently spotted your channel and subscribed. Wishing you all the best in your travels and God bless you both.
Hey George! Thanks for tuning in mate. It was very special seeing the lyrebrid. Its almost like they were showing off for us. Love it up there in the alpines, glad you enjoyed the vid & cheers for subscribing 😀
My wife and I camped in a swag at that exact camp ground at Yarrangobilly a bit over 3 weeks ago and one of the mornings was -6°C and that was the morning we went for a swim in the thermal pool.
Awesome episode guys I'm glad to see something different on UA-cam 👍👍 it also brought back memories of our holiday in July. We stayed at Tumut as we have dogs. Our Cavoodle (Jatz) also did a cold plunge chasing ducks and had to have a very warm shower to warm up. We had some great days and plenty of snow ❤❤
Yer we love the Snowy Mountainstoo! All of our 6 kids know how to ski and snowboard as we've spent so many years going there! Loved thisvideo as it brought back lots of special years of memories too! Thx you two! Phil
Just discovered your chanel guys and subbed - now I have to go back to the beginning and watch all your episodes. One thing that alot of people seem to forget is that when your batteries start to get low with limited solar, don't worry about packing up and leaving. Just plug the car into the van and switch the engine in for an hour - simples.
Great video guys 👏🏻 as someone from Scotland 🏴 where it’s cold the majority of the time is was amazing to see how excited you both got to see the frost, breath and frozen puddles 😂 😮💨 🥶
Hi Chris, thanks for tuning in all the way from Scotland. What a stunning country you live in. AS you could probably tell, the cold is quite the novelty for us 😂
Hi guys, Thats a change - the outback to the snow! We've just come from a very cold and frosty Tenterfield down to Scotts Head. Changed from winter gear to beach gear. That's a bit of a contrast. I put the drone up and managed to fly out and video whales breaching. Enjoying your videos thanks so much.
Wow what a different and cool episode!! Such a different landscape to what we are used to seeing you in. From red dirt to white snow, Ningaloo waters to ice baths, corrugated dirt roads to bitumen. Looks like you totally loved it 😊😊😊
I know the outback would be nice to see but there is nothing like the Alpine region for beauty. One of my best trips was all around the area you were in. Wild horses, food places and all the towns. Just loved it.
Long time follower, first time commenting - love the quality of your vids & how real you both are (plus being from Perth I love the snippets of dnb in a lot of your vids! ❤) Very impressed you drove that far in that space of time, and don’t think I’d be game to do an icy water dip like you Brad 🥶 good on you! Snow looks 👌🏻 and I agree Hayley you are cool 😂 Enjoy guys 😊
Thanks for following along Amy & its great to hear from you!! It was a big haul, by god it was worth it though. I reckon we snagged the best 3 days of snow conditions and weather this whole season. Hope the weather in Perth is turning it on for you 😊
So awesome! Good on you both! Your channel is very inspiring, we are aiming to set off into our own full time travel life within the next couple of months 🤞🏻 Hopefully see you on the road ☺️
It's a big climb up the range from Talbingo. I lived in Tumut for a few years back in the early 2000's. Yarangobilly Caves are worth a look, glad to se you did it, we used to go fishing nearby, there is also an old homestead along the bank with a few old reminders left. They hold the Alpine Rally each year in mid winter nearby to where you are camped. I used to go skiing in Mt Selwyn ski resort because the XR6 Falcon wasn't great in the snow so I always had a lot of trouble getting to Thredbo.
Tumut was such a lovely little town, and yes heading up the range was slow and steady but a nice gentle incline the whole way made it easy. Wished it was open season on the trout, i was keen to have a flick. Next time. Looking forward to some more winter camping next year, we will give the place a good workout 👌
Great episode, we really enjoyed it. We towed our Zones up Alpine Way last year (two Zones) and loved the drive, the scenery was so spectacular and a beautiful, although occasionally scary drive. . We didn't see the sign about not suitable for caravans until we got down and saw the same sign you pointed out (we Came from Thredbo end). Oops 😊
Haha opps! Im kinda glad we took the other way in as it led to the Yarrangobilly areas. Looking forward to getting back down there and exploring more of the alpine way next time 😊
What fun from go to wo, great drone footage. East and West is so very different from each other, we have it all in Aussie, how lucky we are, don’t waste a minute more Aussies, get out and enjoy before the governments lock the gates on many areas we could once always visit or climb!
We got so lucky, i reckon we had the best 3 days of the whole season. Looking back if we didn't rush across the country we would've been faced with very disappointing conditions 😅
OMG that water looked freezing 🥶 I agree with some others are saying so nice to see something other than WA. Don’t get me wrong it’s stunning and can’t wait to get there but awesome having some variety.
Hi guys, just come across your channel/videos absolutely fantastic what I’ve seen so far. I’m looking forward to getting out there and doing it myself. I really enjoy the contact keep up the good work. I have subscribed and looking forward to many more videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 I’m on the big island 🏝️
Great vid guys. Wish I had known in advance you were staying at Adventist Alpine Village. I may have been able to get you a freebie as I used to be the General Manager of the site. I hope they treated you well.
Hello Lidia! Thank you for tuning in from beautiful Rome 😍 We should trade places one day and you can travel around Australia and we can do the same around Europe! 😂
Great video thanks. Did you have any issues with condensation inside the Zone at the very low temps? We have had some in our Zone and wondering what the trick is to prevent it? Mainly on some of the walls and the exhaust fan cover. None on the ceiling thankfully. We had all the windows closed and the diesel heating on. Maybe we should have left one of the windows open a little?
We didn't have much drama at all. We did crack the skylight and a window and only run the DH at around 16-17c so the temp differential was low. The only condensation i found was along the ally channel that runs along the walls in the mornings and evenings would get damp, pretty hard to avoid it at those temps but otherwise the composite did great with the insulation.
Very enjoyable, thank you - even liked the music! How did the cake turn out? Was it edible? Happy Birthday, Brad! Happy travels - there seems to be so much to see, you're spoilt for choice!
Hey Guys great video again !!! Next time you in Busselton you need to stay and i will give you a free fly fishing lesson. Reckon there would have been a few trout in that stream!? Some great shots again guys. Andy and Tan ZPP315
Yeah I've done my fair share of towing in steep country with hair pin corners etc i much preferred the route we took. Plus if we had an accident our insurance company would have plenty of ammo.
Nice 👏🏻 Glad it was you Brad in the stream. Was wondering why you didn’t just go to Hotham ⛷️ for some serious runs when you were so close at Lake Hume but went up to fairy floss 😎🤣 even if you had to double back 100k but at the end saying your heading north I guess that’s your plan Safe travels 👨🏻🌾👍
She was pretty fresh 😅 We had already planned on Perisher and then heading North, we will hopefully get back down next season and hit some of the other resorts 🙌
I have lived in WA for the last 30 years...to see my "home country" again was very nostalgic for me. Thanks for the awesome videography.
Thanks for tuning in! We love hearing how our videos bring back memories. Its a very special bonus to what we do 🥰
Great episode. We went to the oldest cave two weeks ago, we drove past the camp site at Yarrangobilly, there were a few vans, surrounded by snow that fell during the night.
Bloody epic, wish we experienced some of that! Next time!!
Thanks guys Was quite refreshing seeing a video that wasn't at ningaloo or the gibb.
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Wasn’t it 😊👍🏽
Great video guys. It was so good to see something other than the Ningaloo reef & different to all the others on youtube.
Ahhh. True Canadian here. I love watching Aussies in the snow. Typical winter here is -25 to as cold at -47. 😬
Yeah we don't do cold particularly well haha, we are quite unprepared. Especially on the clothing side.
Gday mate just wondering about the -25 -47 comment, would you know what level air humidity there is at -25c?
@@georgeduro2699 roughly 60-80 percent
Nothing quite like that alpine landscape. Love the Snowys.
Us too, already longing to do some more snow trips in the van! 😍

Great memories Dan! What a chilly night in the swag!!
Awesome photography - so cinematic.
How lucky are we to live on or visit this magnificent landscape.
Cheers Bruce, we are very lucky and grateful to have seen so much 😍🇦🇺
An incredible contrast in such a short time! Beautiful campsites and alpine scenery makes it very tempting to try (almost!).
Go on!! You wont regret it mate, maybe add a few extra weeks to the itinerary though 😅

So great to hear, its such a magic place. Its hard to beat the Australian alpine landscape 😍
Haha. Nothing like a quick chilly dip & a hot pool. Dome great footage there team. Thanks. 😊
You sure know your living!! Cheers Dave 😁
Absolutely awesome guys. Kerrie and I have been following yous for a while now. Loving your honest and candid reviews. Looking forward to more.
Thanks so much guys 🥰
Wish we had of known when you guys were in Busselton. So much we could have shared with you guys

Hi Chris, thanks for tuning in all the way from Scotland. What a stunning country you live in. AS you could probably tell, the cold is quite the novelty for us 😂
Wonderful episode to watch, i grew up in Corryong so very exciting to see familiar sights from weekend camping trips!
Thats awesome, what a great spot to call home 😍
Fantastic episode guys. I was cracking up with the cold water swim 👌
Glad you enjoyed it, i have to say we laugh at the noises i made when we watched it back 😂

We've never been to the snow in aus before, defiantly on the bucket list, looks spectacular!

Where was the budgy smugglers on the cold plunge lol
Love u guys
Haha you guys have suffered enough
It must have been an awesome feeling getting back on the snow after an epic journey to get there. Great episode guy, cheers 🍻
It sure was, we had an absolute ball there. Magic place & to be in our own van saving on accom was pretty special!
I know the outback would be nice to see but there is nothing like the Alpine region for beauty. One of my best trips was all around the area you were in. Wild horses, food places and all the towns. Just loved it.

How lucky were you to see a lyre bird! And not just a glimpse!
It was putting on a show for us so cool, we followed it around for 10 minutes!

All I could think about was how much the cruiser must have been loving the cold air... this was a holiday for the car 😂
Oh absolutely, a nice break for the old girl 😅
Looks like it was worth the long drive across the country!
Well worth it, it was all green lights for us 🙌

Thanks Gav, it was a good spot to base ourselves. Nice and convenient 👌
Epic vids as❤
Always
Thanks Mim 🥰
Happy campervan bday 🎉🎉
Thank you Priscilla 🥰
How did the van go with the freezing weather? We had to be careful the water didn't freeze in the hose connection for our camper van.
It was okay if we purged the lines prior to bed 😊

Thanks for the tip Tony, will keep it in mind for next time 😁

Snowpeak 😊
Brad, seeing that you've just done the ice bath i, I feel that Haylie needs a cuddle?

Hey Patsy,
Where are your boots from please, I can’t seem to find any like them?

Honestly Why would you take on a trip like that - you are very keen.
Honestly why not?!

No Way is the Alpine Way suitable for caravans, we have been riding that road for 20+ years, way too many switchbacks, too dangerous
