You're very kind, many thanks for your support 😊
Ive got a rubbish Irish teacher and im in 3rd year, thank you so much for helping me understand this poem!
Some teachers don't teach out of love but out of duty, I try to promote Irish out of love and duty. Glad to hear that you found the video useful, good luck with your exams 😊
since i discovered great grandparents came here in potato famine really inspired me feel i have a undeveloped part of my brain thats Irish Gaelic . love this poem fantastic
I’ve got a huge Irish exam tomorrow and no one in my class could find this poem or notes on it in their handouts.
Thank you so much for this video, you just saved an entire Irish class!
😁😁 Ha ha, glad to hear that you found the video useful 👌 how did the test go?
Your explanation of prepositions was great and reminded me of the Breastplate of St. Patrick. Christ before me, Christ beside me etc., I would love to hear that in Irish.
Interesting, thank you for the tip
Very good presentation and explanation. The poem is well chosen because it's not too difficult for the learner.
That's what I thought, thank you
Every new video is like another piece in a giant jigsaw as you reveal the context of each word and phrase. Thank you for this beautiful poem. 😊💚☘
I'm glad to hear you appreciate it, thank you.
Love the poem and the nature imagery! I was very pleasantly surprised how much made sense and tied back to more familiar words, once you explained the lines so patiently and clearly. Studying in my native U.S., visiting Ireland for my first time this year. I promise to drive very carefully!
😂😂 If only there was another UA-cam channel to help you drive better!
I loved your patient explanation of this lovely poem! This is the type of cultural artifact that truly inspires me to dive deeper into Irish language. thank you and I hope you might share similar works
I certainly hope to, it's nice to see an appreciation for poetry because a lot of Irish people have hang ups going back to their school days.
Best explanation of an Irish poem ever. I'm ready for another poem in time. I will do my best to learn it by heart and maybe set it to music.
Best wishes to you 🙂
This was really really good. I’d love to hear more Irish poems.
I hope to do more soon 😊
Beautiful poem, very well translated. Reminds me of the beautiful foggy October nights we used to travel home from my grandmother's house after spending the day with her. As a little boy I used to love to see the moon over the mountains "a ritheann romham". She really was "mo chara ar an bhòthar". Thank you so much for bring back so many lovely memories. Go raibh maith agat.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience, glad I was able to help you to reconnect with your happy past.
That was fantastic. A great way to learn an gaeilge! More please! Go raibh mîle maith agat for this excellent video.
More on the way soon 👍
The Moon
🌙
She is the queen of the sky
The beauty of the night
Secret star,
that runs before me
My friend on the road
On a trip
In darkness
Her face, now
camouflaged in fog
Above parks and trees
She flies
Spreading shadows
The country in her arms
My beauty/Skywoman/beautiful woman
My secret heart
The moon 🌙
Thank you 👏🇭🇲😀🌈
@@lorrainemclay3343you’re welcome ❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful video! These types of cultural appreciation with a focus on language inspire me to continue my studies of the beautiful Irish language.
Glad to hear that, I like to offer a bit of variation in my videos.
is breá linn filíocht as Gaeilge 😍 thar a bheith úsáideach a Dane
Míle buíochas Mollaí, an-áisiúil agus níl sé ró dheacair.
This is really cool stuff!
I wish there were more poetry/youtubes/videos/music in Irish translated to English (via subs mostly ofc, not in such detail).
We're a rare breed!
BEAUTIFUL
Not wrong
Ar fheabhas! Bhain mé an-taitneamh as an mhíniú.
Bhain mé taitneamh as freisin
Love this, thank you!
Thank You Dane! So very beautiful!
You're not wrong
Absolutely loved this! A wonderful poem so well explained!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed this.
Wonderful.
Best wishes
This was great, loving your videos as a new learner! Grma
You're most welcome, good luck with your journey.
Great video. Very informative and enjoyable. There is just one small thing I would change. I think if it is meant to mean parks "and trees", it should say "is chrainn" and not "is chriann". I believe "chrainn" is the lenited form of "crainn" which means trees. Other than that, I think the video is perfect. 🙂
Might be a misspelling perhaps on my part.
Go raibh míle maith agat. D'fhoghlaim mé rud éigin arís ☘🇮🇪.
Ná habair é!
Dán Éireannach, cool. 😎

Físeán iontach, a Dane! is breá liom sean-dánta mar seo a aimsiú a chuidíonn liom staidéar a dhéanamh ar mo chuid Gaeilge, mar tá na focail níos tábhachtaí nuair a thugtar duit ó dhuine seachas nuair a thugtar gaeilge duit i téacsleabhair agus abairtí samplacha. Grma.
Gan amhras, tá sé áisiúil agus níl sé ró dheacair dar liom.
@@LearnIrish Tá mé ag iarraidh i ndáiríre a fhoghlaim an teanga seo chomh maith, tá mé ag roinnt luck. Is mór agam tú ag cabhrú linn go léir inár scileanna fuaimniú. ☺️
Dear Teacher Dane! 😊
I've been learning Irish
Since I found Your Chanel! Really Good Job! I hope to arrive soon, to the Irish Middle
Level! I've learning Scottish & Welsh too😮
Gaelic & Gailge😮😊
Is a challenge 😅😂🎉
The 3 languages have
Some similar things, but the grammar structure are different!
Specially with the alphabeths🤔🤨😏
The expresiones and the completely different pronounciation is "The Quid" For learning better! A good tool is
To buy 3 dictionaries
English-Irish
English-Scottish
English-Welsh 😅😊
I'd like to know If it's possible to find a three languages book!!!
I've learned English & French at the same time, with a Special book Specially designe for three languages at the same time!
Spanish, English & French!!! When I was 17
in High school! Italian & Portuguese later!!! So
Could be excelent If there's a 3 languages book in UK!!! Or in An British Library (book store) to buy them!!!
Here In México City, i've found Italian - French
Italian-English,
English-French Dictionaires and some others, to learn MORE fast!!! I designed a personal System to learn 3 languages
at the same time! 😮
That's why, when I found Your Chanel
I think, this is What I'm looking for!!! 😊
So, thank you for Your time Teacher! Keep on
With your Irish Lessons!
Bueno, agradezco mucho la oportunidad
de haber platicado con usted, acerca del aprendizaje de Las Lenguas Británicas!
J'espere que vous-etes
Tres bien! Monsieur!
Ci vediamo in altro volta
Mío caro insegnante!!!
Arrivederci!!!
I don't know of any 3 language book, good luck with your journey 🙌😊
Iontach....go raibh maih agat chun na físeán!
Fáilte romhat
The poem is beautiful. I Echo all the comments. I hope you don't get sick of my questions but what did you say after you finished the poem? You didn't translate it and as you would say, I don't have enough Irish to figure it out. I want to send you one of those very Irish, very elegant, very beautiful hugs. GRMA
When you get stuck with sentences or words, copy and paste it into Google translation
My apologies that was kind of impromptu by me, I said I hope you are happy with this video, I enjoyed it anyway, I'll be back soon and bye for now 👍
@@LearnIrish I kind of like that had a bit of an untranslated Irish at the end, a little puzzle for us to figure out

Físeán iontach, agus an-suimúil mar is breá liom dánta. Go raibh maith agat Dane.
Fáilte romhat 😀
Seems very reminiscent of the type of poems that the old Bards would sing for sovereignty godesses/figures, like Macha.
Interesting, possibly so.
Míle buíochas don míniúcháin. Is maith liom go móir an dán sin.
Tá sé go hálainn.
Bhí an gearrscannán thar barr, a chara! Agus bhí an dán seo go hálainn ar fad. Go raibh míle maith agatsa.
Míle fáilte, tráthnóna maith!
Do you know where I can find it in print, or a book of Irish poems in general in Connacht?
Is maith liom do mhíniú tá sé soiléir ach is oth liom a rá go bhfuil bhéim láidir Béarla ag an mbealach a fhuaimníonn tú na focail. Is dócha gurb í seo teanga na todhchaí.
Go halainn! GRMA!

Thank you! Which mythological characters or figures would the Irish or Ireland correlate with?
My favourite Eiriú, the woman who is depicted as a representation of Ireland. Check out the Éireann go brath Green flag with a gold harp.
@@LearnIrish Wow! Brilliant! That's gorgeous! Thank you so much!
Did you ever see the episode of the Agatha Christie series "Poirot" that had that message?
Those will also be perfect garden decorations. The Letters on Ballets & Dancing book says that the harp represents choreography
Interesting. Ireland is the only country in the Galaxy that has a musical instrument as its emblem. Food for thought.

Isn’t “Sí” in the first line a contraction of “Is í”? There’s an apostrophe missing.
It's not really my job to draw these types of conclusions to be honest. It is what it is.
why is it v sounds where there isnt one?
how to understand this?
Just in case you haven't noticed, this is Irish and it is a much older language than English, it has no obligation to make itself easier for a native Germanic language speaker.
Phycology has no S, what's that all about eh?
Níos mó mar seo, le do thoil

You have horrible English accent) But lessons are great
I don't (and never will) suffer the ignominy of speaking in an English accent.
Are there many poems or works of literature in Irish?
Yes
