    You can still get a stock transmission mount from any auto parts stores (i used oreilly) and if you use an early (93-95) crossmemeber, it will all bolt in with no mods.
    Fly wheels are also the same from 91-04. You want to used the same year xj crank sensor as your zj. I have a 98 zj and used a 98 xj crank sensor.
    You can use drives shafts from a 96-98 5.2 NP249 Zj.

      @@dshiznit148 Are you saying this based on a specific model? I have a 98 ZJ 4.0 and I'm worried about this particular step, but some videos are showing you can use the current crossmember with a different 2 bolt adapter and mount.

    Awesome video! I'm a newbie ZJ owner and its also the first automatic transmission vehicle I've ever owned... Trying to figure out a manual swap. I've a 1997 ZJ with the 5.2l and it's RWD .. definitely want a manual..

    Any chance you have the part number for the crank insert for the pilot bearing? I couldn’t make out the part number from the picture I took when I had my ax 15 out of the grand I have but am getting ready to swap another one

    Hello my friend, I am Robson and I live in Brazil. I have a Cherokee 5.2, year of manufacture 96, it had automatic transmission model 42RE or 44RE. I did all the replacement of the automatic transmission for the 5 speeds of the AX15 exactly as in your video. I realized that the engine has lost power and is consuming more. As my automatic transmission was the electronic model. I don't know if I should make changes to the original plugs for the automatic transmission, so that the ECU will make the engine run correctly without the data coming from the old automatic transmission that no longer exists. What can I do?

    I have a 95 zj, when i got it it was wrecked and rear shaft was around 36" and it was bent. i found that most are 32-33" so i had a buddy rebuild mine. I have the 231j tc already. So would you say my rear ds and tc are good to go on this swap?

    Hey man did you have any problems with the speed sensor? Is it still needed? Or do the wires just stay unplugged and it not cause any problems?

    Hey man,
    I picked up a 98 ZJ and the owner did an AX15 swap to it. Thing vibrates like a mofo and I noticed it doesn't have the cross member shims as shown in your video at 8:55. How many inches tall are those shims you made as I'll gladly make one myself! Also what are the dimensions of the shims??

    I've watched the video a few times...getting closer to having to put a new trans in my 93 ZJ, so now might be the time to pull the trigger...I have found a running driving 1994 XJ...would it be easier to just swap out the entire driveline, including motor, trans, and transfer case from the 94 XJ into the 93 ZJ...obvioulsy there would be a number of other parts needed, which I would be able to get based on your list...but just curious if that would be an easier way to get the swap started. Thanks!

      Seems like the easiest way to do your swap would be to just use the transmission and t-case from the XJ.
      Maybe see if the driveshafts and cross member line up too.
      It would be a good idea to get a new master and slave cylinder, new clutch, resurface your pressure plate and maybe a Volkswagen 1.9TDI swap as well ;)

    did you do anything with the old trans wiring to shut off the check engine light? When I did my swap my check engine light came on with trans temp and governor pressure codes. All of that stuff is in the valve body, any way to fool it?

    • @LostFart
      @LostFart  6 років тому

      George McCauley I didn't care enough lol. I hear you can switch the trans computer to one from a Cherokee with an AX-15

      Super old so hopefully you have figured this out by now. If not you need the ecu out of a 1998 dodge Dakota with the 5.2 and manual trans.

    Super big question. I want to swap my v8 5.2L what clutch do I get?

    • @LostFart
      @LostFart  6 років тому +2

      Devin Ward You'd have to find a transmission first and get a clutch that works with the flywheel and splines on both ends. Sounds impossible but it's just a google search away.
      Hope that helps!

    The cable shifter for t-case is well worth the $.
    No more binding and it’s smooth as butter.
    The Savvy Off-road shifter is superior to the Novak.
