Yes....need to either fabricate large engine mounting plates....or move centre engine mounting tube to get front sprocket close to swinging arm pivot....look to modidfy....exhaust system etc....but makes for something a bit different and great fun to ride....had it on road for last 16 years.ua-cam.com/users/shorts-0LlTOcsHqM @@nomasker1360
I've owned 2 TL1000S only problem items were rotary damper, easy fix with Wilbers unit Warped front discs, easy fix with affordable after market units Otherwise runs like a dream!
I’ve got a 97, did a lot of mods to it and it runs pretty consistent now. The fairings are difficult to get ahold of. One company sells the front fairing in fiberglass but that would break a lot easier than abs plastic. So many things are wrong with it stock but once you get it all sorted out it’s a blast to ride!
Thanks for watching. Agree with the fairings scarcity, I managed to drop my TL in the drive against my van, had to source used fairings, got the welded where cracked and then sprayed. The TL is full of surprises, off the road this week with another issue 😢
Love the S, i had a really tatty 98 model. It had been down the road and a nasty aftermarket headlight but was so much fun. My brother and mate had the R but i prefered the S. Would have another tomorrow
I had the same problem with my tank with the overflow tube was cracked . I managed to find the crack and put a goop of Seal-All on it , problem solved .Been years still no leak
Thats great. I alat worry about water getting past the tank lid and backing up in the blocked pipe. I seem to have another leak now as the garage stinks of fuel!
CHRISTINE,, the motorcycle,, because it's old my K6GSXR had a wiring issue with a block connector,,so i took all the connections apart,, contact cleaner,,ACF 50 now I have an SV 1000 aswell,, good bike 👍
Hi, I've tried that, i more now convinced of a break in a cable that runs through the fairing. At least I know which cable to wiggle to get them working again 🤣😂
It's not a big bike. It doesnt like low revs for crawing through town. My clutch is heavy and painful after a while. I see some people do the hydraulic clutch mod. There is plenty information out there on mods. Get one and you wont stop grinning😁
I have a 99 currently. With the standard slipper clutch it’s not the springs, it’s wear on the slipper mechanism. So for the sake of your wrists you may be better with standard springs I got the clutch welded which makes the clutch really heavy. I’ve done a hydraulic conversion with a TLR slave cylinder, Busha lever and master cylinder which is a little better. Part of me wants to go back and swap out the welded one and go back to standard. Although I will keep the hydraulic conversion. I did the brake rebuild and they work brill.
Thanks for the comment. I never wanted to get the clutch welded up as i want to keep it standard. I might look at swapping out the the clutch springs on next oil change. It needs a bit of TLC, new chrome of the fork stanchions, tidy the engine paint and rear end up etc. Maybe next year but I have the Honda 400/4 that I need to get on and finish. Ride safe
It’s in good condition for how old she is I find the older ones do need a little more tlc same has my Kawasaki GPZ500 that’s 35 years next month I should really start using it again but got to replace the tail end where that Ninja 1000sx it in the cave long story that that red light jumper you get them everywhere like mine parts are getting really hard to get 👍👍🙏
@@lipglosshelmetsandhim hi yes bought it from new in 1989 I also had ZZR 600 quick bike that was on holiday at the moment in Spain catching up on here when I get back 👍👍

Thanks for the comments. You gotta love the TL and all it's niggles. 🤣😁I've never ridden the R version but will do one day. I hoping to get out on it a bit more over winter if I can find some dry days!
It still looks a great bike Heath. Loved my little go on it. Sounds gorgeous and is a great part of motorcycle history. Finding time to maintain, do the Honda and the house. You need early retirement 😂

One of Suzuki's best ever Road engines.....got one in a 748SP.
Wow, that's a bit different. It's a great engine. Mine is still purring like a kitten.
Was it a difficult install ?

Good to hear. The damper was already replaced on mine. I had the forks rebuilt, rebuilt calipers and new etc disc.
@lipglosshelmetsandhim I found a great set of 6 pot calipers off a TLR direct fit and installed sintered pads, braided lines, immense braking power

I am considering this bike, hopefully I can try one soon. I fear it might be too big and awkward at low speed and stops.
